Chapter 172: Lucky Sweetness, A Perfect Yet Desperate Situation!

At this point in the [Dessert] segment, no one believed the ”difficulty” lay in completing their respective desserts anymore.

Even without Li Huaʼs earlier summary...

Everyone could easily deduce through trial and error how to find the cards and avoid their ”punishments.”

Yet this stage remained challenging.

The true difficulty lay in how to handle these ”cards.”

Whether intentional or not, Ka the Octopus had misled Li Hua and others with that second ”reconnecting” card.

Admittedly...

The cards that severed ropes and those that reconnected/protected ropes were split fifty-fifty.

But the quantities were completely unbalanced!

From Li Huaʼs perspective of considering ”total rope numbers”...
Among the six cards revealed so far, those severing ropes far outnumbered the reconnecting ones.

Thus...

Allocating these cards became the real challenge.

Li Hua had to consider this with extreme caution.

Lin Yu naturally noticed this too.

”You want to see what card I draw before deciding, donʼt you... using yours and Robinʼs cards as bargaining chips.”

He rested his chin on his hand, staring at Li Hua.

”But I refuse.”

Without waiting for Li Huaʼs response, Lin Yu turned to Ka the Octopus.

”Hey octopus, can I delay preparing my [Dessert] until after these three have used all their cards?”

Ka the Octopus blinked, then nodded.

”Of course.”

Guests requesting dessert service at any time was ”perfectly proper table etiquette.”

After receiving confirmation, Lin Yu looked back at Li Hua.

”Hey, ʼGamblerʼ... your scheme failed.”

Li Huaʼs expression flickered briefly before settling into calm.

”Her unwillingness to cooperate was within my expectations...”

”Then... letʼs begin with Mosin-Nagant.”

Mosin-Nagant nodded and used his [Rope Exchange Card]!

Upon activation...

”Bang!”

No ropes severed on the field—instead, another rope reconnected behind Phantom.

”Mine was cut.”

Radish turned to observe the ropes behind him.

Three ropes remained behind him, but...

The metallic sheen on one had vanished.

Just as Li Hua prepared to speak and use his own card...

Lin Yu abruptly interrupted again.

”Hey—Robin, you said you owe me, right?”

”Time to repay that debt.”

”Use your card... but donʼt make a selection, okay?”

”Iʼm not asking you not to use it against me, but... let ʼfateʼ decide, how about that?”

Lin Yu smiled cheerfully at Robin.

”After all, currently nobody has exactly two ropes—only more than two.”

”So those with single ropes wonʼt be targeted—while someone like me with four ropes faces the greatest risk.”

Robin hesitated, then asked Ka the Octopus: ”Is he telling the truth?”

”Indeed—the two [Scissors Cards] in play cannot target those without exactly two ropes remaining.”

Ka the Octopus confirmed.

”And if youʼd prefer not to choose... Iʼd be happy to choose for you.”

Li Huaʼs expression darkened, sensing a trap.

But before he could intervene...

”I may dislike you, but... a debt is a debt.”

Robin murmured as she raised her card.

”Iʼll use my card... and I wonʼt make a selection.”

”Bang!”

The rope behind her snapped instantly.

Only one rope remained beneath Robinʼs chair!

Her body lurched violently as she gasped, nearly toppling off.

But Robin reacted swiftly, pulling out a marker to sketch lines mid-air.

These lines instantly replaced the severed rope, stabilizing her chair.

Still shaken, Robin clutched the chairback as she climbed up, glaring at Lin Yu.

”Fluoxetine... now weʼre even!”

She declared firmly.

Li Hua gritted his teeth: ”Idiot, youʼve been played by this ʼPsychological Societyʼ bastard—she tricked you!”

”I just used my last stored ability to see—her ropeʼs ʼseverance probabilityʼ was practically 0%!”

”This bitch used some ʼluck-basedʼ [item] to eliminate unfavorable random outcomes.”

Li Hua turned coldly to Lin Yu: ”Well done, ʼFluoxetineʼ—are you trying to kill us all?”

”I never imagined youʼd possess a luck-enhancing item!”

Lin Yu laughed.

”I donʼt have one! Iʼm just... naturally lucky!”

He replied cheerfully.

Meanwhile, Lin Yu reflected internally...

Those earlier uses of [Teeth of Prophecy] hadnʼt been wasted.

Heʼd activated [Teeth of Prophecy] earlier.

The timing...

Was when he produced the [Flavor Papers] for the second time.

Back then, Lin Yu actually held only one genuine [Flavor Paper].

The rest were mere scraps.

Using [Teeth of Prophecy], heʼd implanted the statement: ”Obviously because that [cupcake] didnʼt cost ʼ58 sheetsʼ” into everyoneʼs minds.

Under its influence, everyone naturally believed Lin Yuʼs subsequent claim that he still possessed 57 flavor papers.

In reality, only his first [Flavor Paper] was authentic.

This deception served one purpose...

To ”freeload” a food item worth 57 flavor papers.

As someone whoʼd actually interacted with gods, Lin Yu might lag behind other players in some aspects.

But—

His understanding of gods matched any veteran present.

Thus Lin Yu knew...

Any item connected to gods would be extraordinary.

Especially in a dungeon hosted by a specific god—its provided items might intertwine intricately with the dungeonʼs mechanics.

Just as heʼd predicted...

The [cupcake] obtained by expending one [Teeth of Prophecy] granted him an ability ensuring invincibility in this [Dessert] segment.

The [cupcake] bestowed [Lucky Sweetness]!

Its effect...

[Until your next meal, receive massively enhanced ”luck.”]

With increasing ”random cards” this round, Lin Yu naturally activated [Lucky Sweetness] without hesitation.

”Go ahead, Li Hua...”

”Use your card.”

Lin Yu made an inviting gesture.

The ʼGamblerʼ Li Hua exhaled deeply.

”Everyone, my apologies... for delivering you into this madwoman ʼFluoxetineʼsʼ hands.”

He then used his [Scissors Card].

Four ropes snapped instantly—two each from behind Phantom and Mosin-Nagant.

When the dust settled...

The battlefield presented a bizarre scene.

Lin Yuʼs chair retained all four ropes!

While the other six participants each dangled precariously from a single remaining rope!

”See? I really am quite lucky!”

Observing their unsteady postures and tense expressions, Lin Yu remarked lightly.

His voice brimmed with delight.
