Flash Marriage: Pampered by Mr.Bigshot

Chapter 400: Chapter 399: You will forget her, just like you forgot Anne Davidson

Anne Davidson!?

Nia Mitchell turned her head towards Maxwell Peary at her side. Didn’t he say that he had nothing to do with Anne Davidson? If Anne Davidson was an insignificant person, someone Samuel Peary and Phoebe Harris had intentionally brought up that day to make her leave, then why did Phoebe Harris dare to mention her now, right in front of Maxwell Peary?

”You’ll forget every woman just like you forgot Anne Davidson.”

Phoebe Harris spoke her mind, clearly relishing the moment.

Maxwell Peary stopped in his tracks. He had already taken several steps, so he stood some distance away, his expression hidden from everyone.

Even Nia Mitchell couldn’t tell what he was feeling.

Everything froze. The moment the name ”Anne Davidson” was uttered, everything changed.

”What right do you have to mention Anne Davidson?”

Maxwell Peary released Nia Mitchell’s hand, turned, and faced Phoebe Harris.

His eagle-like eyes were as unreadable as a deep pool, showing no emotion, but the tone of his voice betrayed his fury.

”If it weren’t for you back then, would Anne have ended up like that?”

Maxwell Peary strode towards Phoebe Harris, a subtle, dark aura emanating from him.

No one dared to approach.

”She brought it on herself!”

Phoebe Harris didn’t back down. Since Anne Davidson’s name had already been brought up, she refused to be intimidated.

”Phoebe Harris!”

Maxwell Peary was truly enraged.

”From this day forward, I have nothing to do with the Peary Clan!”

Without waiting for Samuel Peary’s reaction, he grabbed Nia Mitchell and stormed out of the old mansion.

Maxwell Peary moved so quickly that Nia Mitchell was practically dragged along as he rushed to the car and they got in.

He started the engine with swift precision. With a VROOOM, the sleek, black Rolls-Royce sped away from the old mansion and vanished.

It was already pitch dark outside. The old mansion was located in a somewhat remote area, so the clean, wide road had hardly any traffic.

Nia Mitchell sat in the passenger seat with her head bowed, lost in thought.

”They all thought I was in love with Anne Davidson. Back then, I figured, why not let them keep thinking that? It would save me the trouble of them constantly nagging me about getting married.”

Maxwell Peary was the first to break the silence, beginning his explanation.

Nia Mitchell turned to look at him. Every angle of his sharply defined profile highlighted his striking features.

”But doing that ended up harming her. So many people wanted to hurt her, simply because they thought she was aiming to become the future Mrs. Peary.”

Maxwell Peary suddenly pulled the car over to the side of the road. He turned to look at his young wife, who was staring intently at him.

”If you hadn’t suggested keeping our relationship secret from the beginning, I would have suggested it myself.”

He didn’t want Nia Mitchell to suffer any harm. Even though he was more than capable of protecting her now, still... He was starting to be plagued by anxiety, fearing he might make a mistake, fearing that one careless slip and she would...

”Actually, when you suggested I go with you to your class reunion this week, I was thrilled at first. But after that initial excitement wore off, I realized the time wasn’t right yet.”

Nia Mitchell understood his worries. Even his own family wasn’t on his side, let alone all the predators lurking out there.

”Uncle, it’s okay. We’re doing great now, aren’t we?”

Their happiness together was all that mattered.

Maxwell Peary nodded, reaching out to stroke her dark hair. His little Rabina had grown up. Why did he suddenly feel as though his own little girl had finally matured? His heart was a maelstrom of emotions.

”Then, Uncle, will Mom and Evelyn really be alright alone at the old mansion?”
