Flash Marriage: Pampered by Mr.Bigshot

Chapter 371: Chapter 370: Tsk tsk, this is Yancy Hastings’s thought

After hearing Evelyn Peary’s words, Yancy Hastings furrowed his brows, looking up to stare at her intently.

Evelyn Peary felt her skin crawl under his scrutiny. After years of no contact, she no longer knew his personality well.

”Why do you refuse?”

Evelyn Peary was speechless. Seriously? That wasn’t even a real question, was it? Why should she agree? What reason did she have to agree? Marriage should be based on love! Besides, she had always seen Yancy Hastings as a brother, a buddy, a friend. She could hardly imagine what being married to him would be like.

In the past, whenever she upset her older brother, he would bring up Yancy Hastings, suggesting she marry him. It never failed; it always made her behave.

She knew that at home, her older brother’s opinion carried weight. If her older brother wanted her to marry Yancy Hastings, there was an eighty percent chance she wouldn’t be able to get out of it.

But now, this was the wish of that person in the old residence, something she could completely disregard.

”The man I marry in the future can be poor or plain-looking, but he must love me, and I must love him too.”

Evelyn Peary answered his question very seriously. After speaking, she nodded with great certainty and raised an eyebrow.

Her implication was simple: *You don’t meet my requirements.*

Hearing her theory, Yancy Hastings furrowed his brows. Beneath his short black hair, his eyes were incredibly sharp.

”Why do you think I don’t love you? Feelings can be cultivated after marriage. And how can you be so sure you won’t love me in the future?”

Feelings are cultivated, and cultivation takes time. He was currently busy with Army affairs, while she spent her entire day holed up in this Madgar Pavilion; the two of them had no time to spend together. But once they were married, she would join the Army with him and they would live together. Being together day and night, wouldn’t feelings naturally develop then?

”Please! We’ve known each other for so long, and I haven’t fallen in love with you, alright?”

Evelyn Peary found this hard to accept; her head was throbbing as if it would split.

”Before, you just never thought about it that way. Things will be different once our relationship changes.”

After saying his piece, Yancy Hastings raised his hand and glanced at his watch.

”I have other matters to attend to. You keep these for now. I’ll go to the old residence tomorrow to formally propose marriage.”

Evelyn Peary didn’t detect any hint of negotiation in his tone. This was clearly an announcement.

So, he came today just to inform her, and then what? Was he going to pick a date, have her put on a wedding dress, and then she’d marry him?

Hell no, she absolutely wouldn’t!

”I’m telling you, I refuse! I refuse! Don’t go looking for trouble for yourself!”

Evelyn Peary looked panicked. Seeing that he completely ignored what she was saying, straightened his Military Uniform, and started to walk out, she felt like she was about to break down.

”Yancy Hastings, didn’t you hear me? I refuse, refuse, refuse! Don’t blame me for not saving your face then!”

Just as she was speaking, Yancy Hastings had already opened the door of the Private Booth.

Several Waiters happened to be passing by and saw the usually carefree yet still graceful Evelyn Peary yelling like a shrew towards the doorway.

Uh oh, they saw that. Would they be fired? A chilling fear crept over them.

”Keep those things safe; they’re very expensive.”

Yancy Hastings came from a military and political Aristocratic Family. Although he was incorruptible, his family’s foundation was exceptionally strong. Not to mention he himself owned the Lotus Residence; their Ancestral Property alone was abundant enough for several generations of the Hastings Family to squander.

For the word ”expensive” to come from his mouth, it didn’t mean he was stingy; it could only mean...

...those things were truly, astonishingly expensive.
