Flash Marriage: Pampered by Mr.Bigshot

Chapter 383: Chapter 382: Alan Morgan wants to resign!?

A secretary’s sour voice echoed through the office.

Nia Mitchell finally raised her head, looked around, observing everyone’s different expressions, before her gaze finally settled on Sophia Moore.

”Shouldn’t you start packing your things?”

If she were to take over, there would certainly be a lot to hand over. Alan Morgan’s resignation was so sudden; clearly, he probably hadn’t had much time to prepare for the handover.

Sure enough, shortly after Nia had said this, Alan Morgan reappeared at the entrance of the Secretary Department’s office.

”Sophia Moore, what are you dawdling for? You can pack your things later. Come here first.”

Alan Morgan frowned and, after speaking, headed directly for the CEO’s Office.

Sophia Moore’s face flushed then paled; she stood rooted to the spot, a mixture of embarrassment and anger churning within her.

Nia Mitchell, enjoy your triumph. Let’s see how long till you cry.

”Everyone, hurry up and get on with your work. No slacking off, or I won’t be able to protect you.”

Sophia Moore took a deep breath and straightened up, already carrying the air of a capable Special Assistant. With those words, she turned and walked towards Maxwell Peary’s office.

After she spoke, everyone scrambled to work as if a motor had been switched on inside them.

After all, Sophia Moore had only been here a few days, and no one was very familiar with her temperament. If they truly got on her wrong side, they risked losing such a good job.

BEEP, BEEP, BEEP—

Nia Mitchell’s desk phone suddenly rang, its shrill sound piercing the otherwise silent office, exceptionally jarring.

”Could you come in for a moment?”

The phone was abruptly hung up before Nia Mitchell had a chance to react.

Uncle Peary’s office is so lively; why does he need me there?

Having no other option, she had to put down her work and go.

「CEO’s Office—」

It was deathly silent. This place was far more solemn and imposing than the Secretary Department. One didn’t even dare to breathe loudly here.

Nia Mitchell swallowed, then knocked on the door. After receiving Maxwell Peary’s permission, she pushed it open and stepped inside.

What’s happening here?

Maxwell Peary sat behind his desk, his expression grim. Alan Morgan and Sophia Moore stood before him. The floor was a mess, strewn with files and reports.

Ugh.

She hesitated as she walked forward. Seeing the dense scatter of documents on the floor, she didn’t dare step on them and stopped about three meters away from Maxwell Peary.

”So, you’re here to *inform* me?” Maxwell Peary’s voice was low and grim, carrying an inherent authority.

Alan Morgan stood there, head held high, meeting Maxwell Peary’s eyes directly.

”Have you really decided to go back?”

Alan Morgan hesitated for a good while, then eventually nodded.

”I have to go back to the Morgan Family.”

Those were the words Maxwell Peary detested most. He had never thought of shackling Alan Morgan to MC Group, but he understood better than anyone how desperately Alan Morgan wanted to escape the Morgan Family.

Now, Alan Morgan had abruptly brought the newly appointed Head Secretary to inform him of his decision: he was resigning to return to the Morgan Family, and the new Special Assistant, Sophia Moore, had already been chosen.

Alan Morgan, dammit, you went out to clear your head and ended up losing your mind, didn’t you? If you were going to look for Shirley Grant, then just look for Shirley Grant! What’s this about searching for her only to decide to return to the Morgan Family?

”Reason!”

Maxwell Peary lit a cigarette and took a long, hard drag.

”I am the sole heir of the Morgan Family.”

Right, right, right, a wonderful fucking reason! I can hardly resist giving him thirty-two likes for this!

”Get the fuck back to your Morgan Family and do whatever you want! Sophia Moore, go back to being Head Secretary. I’ll find a Special Assistant myself.”

Maxwell Peary angrily stubbed out his cigarette, his brow deeply furrowed.
