Flash Marriage: Pampered by Mr.Bigshot

Chapter 136: Chapter 135 Uncle Peary Wants to Scrounge a Meal

Fiona Sutton’s eyes were red. Usually straightforward and impulsive, she couldn’t help but want to slap herself whenever she thought back to Nia Mitchell’s helplessness that day.

What on earth had possessed her to pick that exact moment to argue with Nia and flee to the USA? Even if she knew Hendry Hampton was flawed in so many ways, she still should have stayed for her best friend’s engagement ceremony!

”It’s all in the past now. I now have... a better one.”

The thought of the man in the Office Room made her lips curve into a sweet smile.

Perhaps, that wasn’t an unfortunate incident. It was a chance from heaven to pull back from the brink, a fate predestined from above.

After arranging to meet Fiona Sutton for lunch, Nia Mitchell hung up the phone.

She opened the chat window on her computer and messaged Maxwell Peary.

”Uncle Peary, I won’t be having lunch with you today.”

Nia Mitchell put away her phone, picked up the documents on her desk, and began her day’s work.

She needed to continue inputting the paper files into the computer. As for what Phoebe Walker had said today... Hmph. She refused.

Soon, Maxwell Peary sent a reply.

”Are you going to abandon me?”

Maxwell Peary was upset. It was just one phone call; how could he be abandoned in the blink of an eye?

”How can you say I’m abandoning you? I’m just going to have lunch with a friend!”

Fiona Sutton had finally returned after so much trouble. If Nia didn’t go meet her, Fiona would probably charge right over.

No, no, that scenario was too dreadful to imagine.

”Can’t I join you for lunch?”

In his Office Room, the CEO, an unlit cigarette dangling from his lips, finally voiced the question that had been weighing on his mind.

She wasn’t bringing him along... Was it because he wasn’t presentable? Or did Nia Mitchell actually not want to introduce him to her friends at all? Hmm? Damn that Bunny! He swore that if she really thought that way, he’d make her pay dearly.

Nia Mitchell’s face darkened. Why on earth should she bring him to lunch? She was meeting her girlfriends; what would a grown man like him be doing tagging along?

Besides... she had just told Fiona Sutton about her breakup with Hendry Hampton, a bombshell that had already shocked Fiona to her core. If Nia then told her she had hastily married a stranger, she feared Fiona Sutton would explode and drag them both down.

”Can I bring you next time?”

Nia Mitchell even sent an emoji with big, sparkling, winking eyes, trying to act cute. He should let her off the hook for that, right?

Little did she know, the certain someone in the Office Room sipping coffee had already darkened.

”When would the next time be? Set a date.”

DING. A message arrived. Nia Mitchell’s eye twitched when she saw it.

CEO, can’t you tell I was just trying to fob you off?

While Nia Mitchell and the CEO were locked in their battle of wits, the Office Room group chat exploded into an uproar.

”Well, well, Nia Mitchell is quite the repeat offender.”

”I see it now, I see it! No wonder she tried to seduce the big boss as soon as she arrived. She’s clearly an old hand at this.”

”She’s so calm even after being dumped. Figures.”

”Shameless vixen!”

”What are we supposed to do about being colleagues with someone like her?”

”Don’t want to be colleagues? Heh, I don’t even want to breathe the same air in the same room as her right now.”

...

Everyone in the group chat was engaged in a heated discussion, each person furiously typing and sending messages.

After sending each message, they would all prick up their ears and slant their eyes to observe Nia Mitchell. Hmm... she’s typing, and quite fast too. She must be furious.

But after a long while, the TAP-TAP-TAP of Nia Mitchell’s typing stopped. The group chat... was completely empty!

That little wretch Nia Mitchell, did she eat the words she typed?!
