Chapter 102: Chapter 101: Uncle Peary’s Work Is Not Going Well

Maxwell Peary!

Nia Mitchell was utterly mortified. Did he have to be so smug when he said that?

”Did I say something wrong?” Maxwell Peary raised an eyebrow. Once he saw the button was fastened properly, he reached out and handed the tie to Nia Mitchell.

Talk about giving someone an inch and they take a mile! Maxwell Peary was a prime example.

”I can’t tie a tie.” With that, Nia Mitchell went to brush her teeth, ignoring Maxwell Peary.

She can’t tie one? Well, that’s a good excuse. He couldn’t refute it. But he’d make sure she learned within a week.

He moved to stand next to her and grabbed a toothbrush to brush his teeth as well.

”How is work in the Secretary Department?”

Nia Mitchell lifted her head to look at their reflections in the mirror. Her cheeks were still slightly flushed. Holding her toothbrush, she brushed energetically, her mouth full of white foam.

”It’s nice,” she mumbled, her mouth full of foam. She then took a sip of water and rinsed her mouth.

”How about you, Uncle Peary? How is work going?” As a matter of courtesy, she felt she should also show some concern for his work, although she suspected that as the CEO, Maxwell Peary couldn’t possibly be doing poorly.

”I’m not doing well.”

Huh...

Nia Mitchell was baffled. Uncle Peary, you don’t play by the rules! As the CEO, how can you say your work isn’t going well?

”Where... where are you having issues?” Nia Mitchell timidly asked. Surely MC Group isn’t about to go bankrupt, is it? Are they facing some huge crisis?

As Nia Mitchell’s mind raced through ten thousand possibilities, Maxwell Peary looked up. Seeing her anxious expression, the veins on his forehead throbbed.

”What I meant was, I wasn’t able to work well yesterday because you were all I could think about.”

Nia Mitchell never understood why Maxwell Peary’s romantic lines flowed so easily. Perhaps he’d had many, many girlfriends before.

However, even though his words made her shy, she was truly delighted to hear them.

”I don’t believe you.” The rumors about MC Group’s CEO described him as cold and emotionless, meticulous about his work. He had been busy with official business late into the night. How could she believe he was the kind of person who would think of her while working?

”Then what can I do to make you believe?” Maxwell Peary leaned down, his hands on her slender waist. His low, hoarse voice was enthralling, making her scalp tingle.

”I... Whatever you do, I won’t believe you.” Nia Mitchell swiftly broke free and hurried downstairs. She was starting to realize Maxwell Peary was a dangerous man. If she stayed by his side, sooner or later, there’d be nothing left of her.

Downstairs, the butler had already prepared breakfast. According to Maxwell Peary’s instructions, there was no coffee on the dining table.

When he came downstairs, Nia Mitchell was munching away happily.

”When will you learn to wait for me to dine together?” Maxwell Peary asked as he buttoned his cuffs and adjusted his shirt.

Nia Mitchell lifted her head and shifted her gaze from the Crystal Shrimp Dumplings to Maxwell Peary.

”You never said to wait for you.”

Maxwell Peary put his hand to his forehead. Alright, he hadn’t explicitly said so, but isn’t it common courtesy?

”Remember to come to my Office Room for lunch today. What do you want to eat? You can instruct the kitchen later to prepare it and have it sent over at noon.”

After Maxwell Peary sat down and took a sip of his Egg and Lean Meat Porridge, he looked at Nia Mitchell.

Nia Mitchell picked the last Crystal Shrimp Dumpling from her plate and put it into her mouth.

”Aren’t we supposed to eat in the Staff Restaurant for lunch? When I was in School, I heard that the food in MC Group’s Staff Restaurant is especially good.”
