Flash Marriage: Pampered by Mr.Bigshot

Chapter 230: Chapter 229: You Won’t See Tomorrow’s Sun

When Nia Mitchell’s name was called again, she looked up at Maxwell Peary.

As their gazes met, she felt a pang of guilt, even though she hadn’t done anything wrong.

”It was him! He kept pestering me, asking for my name and my phone number.” Nia Mitchell swiftly pointed a finger at Benjamin Jones, her face a mask of grievance.

Maxwell Peary turned to look at Benjamin Jones, awaiting an explanation.

But after a long pause, Benjamin Jones remained silent.

What Nia Mitchell said was true, wasn’t it? He *had* been pestering her; how else could he have gotten her phone number? It was just a common tactic for pursuing a girl. Why is Young Master Peary looking at me so strangely?

”What’s your name?” Maxwell Peary asked, staring at Benjamin Jones. He searched his memory but couldn’t recall ever seeing him before.

Benjamin Jones was stunned. Young Master Peary was actually asking for his name!

Does this mean I, Benjamin Jones, am about to become friends with Young Master Peary? This could be my chance to achieve fame and success, to make the Jones Corporation flourish! Ha! Let’s see if Dad still calls me a spendthrift or condemns me as a good-for-nothing. In the future, I’ll make him bow and scrape, flattering me with new praises every single day!

”My name is Benjamin Jones... I’m the heir to the Jones Corporation.”

I originally just wanted to state my name, Benjamin Jones thought, but on second thought, I might as well leverage Dad’s achievements one more time. This is the absolute last time I use the Jones family name, he secretly vowed. From now on, the Jones Corporation will have to depend on me to survive!

”Jones Corporation?” Maxwell Peary frowned. ”Never heard of them.”

Nia Mitchell’s mouth twitched. CEO, couldn’t you avoid saying that right in front of him? Still, when the CEO said those words, he seemed rather adorably clueless.

Of course, this was merely Nia Mitchell’s perception.

If Benjamin Jones knew what Nia Mitchell was thinking, he would likely jump up and retort, Adorable? What’s so adorable about that? Your whole family is adorable!

”Well, Young Master Peary, you may not know of it now,” Benjamin Jones said, ”but you’ll find out soon enough, won’t you?”

”There will be no need to know.”

After that, Maxwell Peary didn’t spare Benjamin Jones another glance.

In full view of everyone, he took out his phone and dialed a number.

The call was to his most capable right-hand man, Alan Morgan.

Alan, at that moment, was in dire straits.

Inside the cramped car, Alan Morgan sat in the driver’s seat with Shirley Grant in the passenger seat. Both wore strained expressions, and the atmosphere was incredibly tense when Alan’s phone suddenly rang.

Alan was startled. He reached over and picked up his phone. As he turned his head, a bright red five-fingered handprint on his cheek became clearly visible.

”Boss?”

”Are you familiar with the Jones Corporation? They have an heir named Benjamin Jones.”

Alan paused, then turned to grab a nearby notebook, quickly flipping through its pages.

”The Jones Corporation is an old enterprise, but it’s suffering from severe internal and external losses. Furthermore, the Jones family’s sole heir is incompetent. If the Jones Corporation continues on its current path without implementing any brilliant strategies, they’ll declare bankruptcy within three years at most.” Alan looked at his notebook and answered Maxwell Peary’s question with all seriousness.

”Hmm, I see. I want the Jones Corporation to not see tomorrow’s sun,” Maxwell Peary issued an icy command.

”Understood.”

After the call ended, the banquet hall seemed to grow even quieter, so much so that one could almost hear their own breathing.

Benjamin Jones still couldn’t comprehend what had just happened, his face a picture of utter confusion.

What did Young Master Peary mean by what he just said?
