Chapter 97: Chapter 97: Uncle, Hurry up and Make Money for Me to Spend

Nia Mitchell was greatly embarrassed. Was he a mind reader? How else would he know what she was thinking?

Seeing Maxwell Peary’s chopsticks already reaching for a piece of ginger, Nia Mitchell immediately pulled a wry face.

”Husband, I was wrong.”

Those five words were enough to make Maxwell Peary’s hand, which was picking up food, freeze in mid-air. Did he just hear Little Rabina call him ’husband’? He hadn’t misheard, had he? This little bunny was very stubborn, always calling him ’Uncle’ this and ’Uncle’ that. He’d only heard her call him ’husband’ once or twice before, usually after much coercion and coaxing. For her to say it so easily this time...

Nia Mitchell blushed, stuck out her little tongue, and thought, Hmph, hmph, I refuse to believe this won’t faze you. A trump card is a trump card, after all! Not even Young Master Peary, a magnate who dominated the Shopping Mall scene and whose moods were notoriously unpredictable, could resist it.

”Ahem, do... do you still want some fish?”

After a long moment, Maxwell Peary finally found his tongue; his speech was somewhat halting.

Nia Mitchell was blooming with delight. It was rare to see Maxwell Peary like this. Mmm, totally worth it!

”Yes,” she replied sweetly, opening her mouth to be fed.

The rest of the meal passed peacefully, thanks to Nia Mitchell’s ”husband.” Afterwards, she also kindly picked out some of her favorite dishes for Maxwell Peary, like pork riblets.

「」

As Butler Jin cleared the table, a smile played on his lips. He’d never seen Young Master Peary eat so much for dinner before; usually, he’d just have a few bites before heading upstairs to deal with business. A man with a family truly is different. It seems I should report this to the Old Master to make him happy too. Who knows, maybe the Peary Clan will have a new member next year!

Nia Mitchell, having eaten her fill once more as she wished, ran to the garden to admire the flowers.

”What are you doing running outside so late at night?”

Maxwell Peary had searched all over for her and finally found her in the sea of flowers.

”Admiring the moon and flowers! They’re so beautiful,” she said with a smile, finding a bench to sit on before happily gazing at the sky.

”The weather is getting warmer; there’ll be mosquitoes out here,” Maxwell Peary said, adding, ”Especially around all these flowers and plants.”

Nia Mitchell seemed completely unconcerned and remained seated, showing no intention of leaving.

”I just want to stay out a little longer. You have business to attend to, and it’s boring for me to be in the room alone.” Since it’s boring either way, I might as well wander around out here.

Maxwell Peary paused. Was Little Rabina complaining that he was neglecting her?

So, he sat down beside her, took her hand, and joined her in admiring the moon.

”Uncle, aren’t you going to work?” Nia Mitchell asked, curious. For a big boss like him, every minute is worth USD. Is it really okay for him to waste time sitting here like this?

”It’s after work hours now.” He looked down at her, his eyes filled with tenderness. Unfortunately, it was rather dark, so Nia Mitchell couldn’t see his expression at all. Truth be told, she wasn’t even looking at him; she was focused on the flowers in front of her.

”Uncle, look! These flowers are so pretty, but they only bloom for a short while.”

”When these flowers fade, others will take their place. This garden will always be beautiful.”

Nia Mitchell nodded. That’s true. How could a rich man like Maxwell Peary let his garden become empty and desolate?

”Uncle, hurry up and get back to work! You need to earn back the money for replacing the flowers,” Nia Mitchell said, starting to push Maxwell Peary. It’s so heartbreaking to just spend money; earning it is what feels good, right?

Dark lines seemed to etch themselves onto Maxwell Peary’s face. He finally saw it; this little bunny was just finding all sorts of excuses to send him away, annoyed that he was an eyesore to her here.

”Aren’t you worried your husband will get tired?” Maxwell Peary said, yielding to Nia Mitchell’s shoves as he stood up and started walking back towards the house.

”Oh, right!” Realizing her oversight, Nia Mitchell stopped pushing.
