Flash Marriage: Pampered by Mr.Bigshot

Chapter 88: Chapter 88: Give Me Back My Annual Bonus

”Hey! Hey! I wasn’t finished! I haven’t even gotten to the important part! Do you know who that woman is? Why did you hang up on me?”

Alan Morgan tried calling again, but the phone was switched off...

Damn it! Bro, did you really have to be so unreliable at a critical moment like this? I’m over here living a life worse than death, and you’re in bed with your wife, lost in blissful oblivion. Is this world even going to give me a chance to live?

After what felt like an eternity of torment, the office door opened again, and Maxwell Peary walked in.

”Boss, your sister-in-law...”

She’s not mad, is she?

Alan Morgan swallowed, instinctively retreating a few steps from Maxwell Peary.

Maxwell Peary raised his head, his eyes filled with a chilling hostility.

”I’m planning to use your annual bonus this year to cheer up your sister-in-law.”

Alan Morgan looked like he wanted to cry but couldn’t. ”Boss!”

You can mess with anything else, just not my annual bonus! That’s my marriage fund!

”I protest!”

Maxwell Peary sat down and looked up at Alan Morgan.

”Then tell me, apart from this, what else do you suggest to make your sister-in-law happy?”

Alan Morgan racked his brain. Cheering up a woman? That should be super easy, right? A lavish meal... erm, that costs money. Nine thousand nine hundred and ninety-nine roses... erm, that costs money. An exquisite little gift... erm, that costs money. ...

The more Alan Morgan thought, the more anxious he became. He figured if he actually suggested any of these, the Boss would just glance at him, expressionless and nonchalant, and say, ”We’ll deduct these expenses from your annual bonus.” Yep, that’s definitely what would happen. And if the annual bonus wasn’t enough, he’d even go after my salary for next year.

”The Boss is truly the Boss, so wise! This is indeed the best method. If my meager little annual bonus can make sister-in-law happy, I, your humble subordinate, will gladly offer it with both hands.”

Alan Morgan wore an anguished expression. Oh, my precious money... sniffle...

Maxwell Peary looked thoughtful. He reached for the coffee cup on the table and took a sip.

”You’re right, your annual bonus is too small. Your sister-in-law probably won’t be too happy.”

Alan Morgan’s face lit up with joy. So, great CEO, you mean you think it’s not easy for me to earn money and you’re going to let me off the hook?

”You can forget about your salary for the first half of next year. Added to your annual bonus, that’s quite a sum. It should be enough for your sister-in-law to have some fun with.”

Alan Morgan felt like he’d just died.

Nia Mitchell lowered her head, her expression grim as she stared at the stack of documents on her desk.

That damn Phoebe Walker! She actually put all this stuff directly on my desk, waiting for me to get back from the CEO Office to continue working on it.

”Secretary Walker, you already assigned my tasks for today. Don’t tell me you... pay so little heed to your own words?”

With a cold expression, Nia Mitchell walked up to Phoebe Walker, her aura powerful.

Phoebe Walker, wearing an impeccable smile, tilted her head up to look at the furious Nia Mitchell who had just stormed over to her.

”Nia Mitchell, this is your work for tomorrow. These documents are quite urgent, and I was worried you wouldn’t be able to finish them before leaving work tomorrow. So, I kindly gave them to you in advance. How can you be so unappreciative of good intentions?”

Phoebe Walker sounded incredibly wronged, and listening to her filled Nia Mitchell with a burning rage. Yet, there was nowhere to vent this anger, so Nia could only stand there, rooted to the spot.

”That’s so much data to enter into the computer! Forget finishing it by the end of work tomorrow, I couldn’t even get it done in three days!”

Phoebe Walker put on an innocent look. ”You can’t finish it even in three days? It makes me wonder how you even got into MC. If you can’t handle such a small amount of work, how will you manage your future responsibilities?”
