Flash Marriage: Pampered by Mr.Bigshot

Chapter 65: Chapter 65: Young Master Peary’s Emotional Intelligence Has Been Activated

The words ”I’ll wait for you” resonated deeply within him, impossible to forget.

It was nearing 5:00 P.M. A silver Rolls-Royce sped down the street, executed a brilliant, sharp turn, and then halted neatly in front of Madgar Pavilion.

Passersby gawked. They glanced at the long line of luxurious cars in front of Madgar Pavilion, murmured something under their breath, and then quickly walked away.

Nia Mitchell, sitting in the passenger seat, opened the car door. Just as she was about to get out, Maxwell Peary pulled her back.

”What’s wrong?” Nia Mitchell turned to look at him.

Maxwell Peary pointed to his own lips. ”A goodbye kiss.”

Her face reddening, Nia Mitchell lightly thumped his arm. Embarrassed, she made to get out of the car.

But his hand restraining her left wrist wouldn’t let go no matter how she struggled, leaving her no choice but to turn and look at him.

Seeing his insistence, Nia Mitchell pursed her lips. She hesitated for a long moment, and after much internal debate, quickly leaned over and pecked Maxwell Peary’s lips.

The soft touch was fleeting. Maxwell Peary coughed awkwardly; he hadn’t expected that merely her initiating that light contact would cause his body to react.

”Wait for me to pick you up and take you home.”

Nia Mitchell nodded vigorously. ”I know, I know. You’ve said it hundreds of times on the way here.”

Seeing her impatience, Maxwell Peary pulled her forcefully towards him and kissed her hard before letting go.

Looking at her rosy, glistening lips, he showed his first smile since he had ended the phone call.

”If you don’t finish your work quickly, I’m not waiting for you for dinner.”

Nia Mitchell said this before closing the car door, then pointed at Madgar Pavilion. Her meaning was clear: she was going to enjoy the luxurious meal first.

”I’ll be as quick as I can. If you’re hungry, eat first. Don’t wait for me.”

”I’ll eat first even if I’m not hungry. Who’d wait for you?”

Slamming the car door shut, without looking to see Maxwell Peary’s reaction to her words, she quickly jogged into Madgar Pavilion.

Evelyn Peary had shopped a bit late today, so she arrived at Madgar Pavilion later than usual, right when it was at its busiest.

But her older brother had called with an order: her young sister-in-law was being left in her care and she had to entertain her well. Consequently, Evelyn had to drop everything and personally come out to greet her.

”Evelyn.” Nia Mitchell smiled and walked over. Unsure what to call Evelyn Peary, she simply used her first name.

”Has my brother left?” Evelyn Peary asked, not seeing Maxwell Peary.

”Yes, he’s very busy. He took me to a movie today and missed many calls. Now he’s rushed back to the Company to deal with things.”

Evelyn Peary led Nia Mitchell to Maxwell Peary’s exclusive private booth.

”A movie?” Evelyn Peary couldn’t believe her ears. Had she misheard, or had her sister-in-law actually said that? That blockhead Maxwell Peary actually possessed the emotional intelligence to accompany his sister-in-law to a movie?

”Yes? What’s wrong?” Nia Mitchell looked puzzled; what was so surprising about that?

”Nothing, it’s just that I think you’re amazing, Sister-in-law.”

A place like a movie theater, her brother probably hadn’t set foot in one since he was old enough to remember. Even when their mother, the family matriarch, tried to cajole or pressure him, he wouldn’t budge.

Who would have thought! Maxwell Peary, to think you’d prioritize a woman over your mother and sister...

She had to go home and tell their mom tonight that Maxwell Peary had secretly gotten his marriage certificate and had even gone to a movie theater.

”Amazing?” Nia Mitchell was bewildered, looking at Evelyn Peary in confusion.

”It’s nothing, really. It’s just that my brother used to refuse to ever go to a movie theater. He’d say that for the hundred or so USD and over two hours spent, it was better to use that time to sign a major contract and earn millions.”
