Reborn As An Interstellar Giant Mosquito

Actually, he was somewhat puzzled. Under his governance, these wandering citizens should have been settled, so why would such a situation arise? Besides, he had provided many benefits for these wandering peoples, yet they still dared to break the law and bear arms?

”Haha, we just think your clothes look nice, you must be a rich young lord. We want to have a chat with you. How about coming with us to sit in that shack over there?”

”Let’s go!”

Several creatures that looked like pig-headed or chicken-headed beings shouted loudly at Jia Rong.

Jia Rong couldn’t help but furrow his brow.

He couldn’t believe that his policies had resulted in so many citizens acting like bandits.

He knew very well not to be naive about human nature, since he himself wasn’t a perfect person. As such, he set up many restrictions to reduce opportunities for such bandit-like behavior, such as strict laws and crime detection methods.

But when he saw a device that disrupted signals on the back of one of the creatures, he suddenly understood that they had come prepared.

”Gentlemen, I can go with you, but can you not put handcuffs on me? I’m so weak there’s no way I could escape, right?”

Jia Rong said calmly.

One bandit-like creature was about to curse him loudly, but a chicken-headed creature on the other side stopped him.

”Forget it, this guy doesn’t look like he has any ability. Let’s go as he says.”

The chicken-headed creature seemed skeptical that Jia Rong’s mere 170-centimeter stature posed any threat to them.

Jia Rong resigned himself to following this group of creatures, walking behind them as they moved forward.

”You look quite like those Earth people, probably a species similar to them, right? Haha, you’re unlucky because you look like Earth people, getting robbed wherever you go.”

The chicken-headed monster seemingly unintentionally moved closer to Jia Rong, but the implication of his words was clearly trying to get Jia Rong to talk.

Jia Rong didn’t just look like Earth people, who were well-known in this starfield; he was exactly like them, indistinguishable from Earth people.

So this chicken-headed creature was probing Jia Rong. If he was an Earth person, they might demand a higher ransom later.

After all, although Earth people are a civilization that has just stepped into interstellar space, and there aren’t many Strong Ones among their species, they have played finance well due to their relationship with the Giant Mosquitoes, which has greatly improved their quality of life. Personal income is exceptionally high throughout the Orion Arm and Biochemical Star Region.

”How could I be an Earth person, my lord? You’re mistaken; I’ve suffered a lot just because I resemble Earth people. How far is this place from Earth? If I were an Earth person, how could I have come to such a place? Don’t you think so?”

Jia Rong quickly pretended to be fearful, as if he was really miserable because of resembling Earth people.

The pig-headed and chicken-headed creatures couldn’t help but chuckle.

They all agreed with Jia Rong’s explanation.

”Not bad, not bad. If he were an Earth person, those who come to our place have some status or position. If that were the case, we wouldn’t dare to make a move.”

”Precisely, this guy doesn’t have any guards or helpers. Treating him as an Earth person is simply laughable.”

The pig-headed and chicken-headed creatures realized their mistake.

Jia Rong then smiled slightly; sometimes, he found it somewhat interesting to bully the weak.

Jia Rong followed them to a slum, or rather, a place he accidentally overlooked when designating areas to help rebuild the planet years ago.

Because the area Jia Rong governed across the starry sky wasn’t just this one planet. He actually ruled several light-years across this sector of space. His responsibilities were numerous, so for such a small planet, he spent little time and effort, using his knowledge to easily delineate the areas he wanted. Thus, this planet began its reconstruction after the chaos of war.

But Jia Rong discovered that the area he overlooked had become a so-called slum, which made him somewhat displeased.

Within this slum, he found a number of people, far more than those with living conditions outside.

”Aren’t people outside able to have free housing? Why don’t you go out and find houses?”

Jia Rong asked the bandits who had taken him to this area in shock.

”Ha? Move into free housing? Are you kidding? Do you know how most people got here? They were tricked into coming, hearing that there were free houses and decent infrastructure on this planet. They came from various battered post-war planets or regions of the universe. When they arrived, their flying tools were confiscated, there were no houses available, and they had to provide bribes or proof of some sort. We fled here during the Great War, who has any proof? As a result, we lost everything and can’t even return to the starry sky. There’s no normal living condition. Tell us, if not here, then where else would we go?”
