Reborn As An Interstellar Giant Mosquito

Capítulo 2000: Chapter 31: Fairness?

In their eyes, Jia Yan’s strength is definitely not that great, so he should belong to the first category.

Sick in the head.

“Humph, if you want to try, go ahead. But since you killed one of our controllers and are here for an assessment, we’re going to ramp up the difficulty. Just don’t accuse us of being unfair later.”

“Fairness?”

Jia Yan found it amusing upon hearing those words.

He shook his head indifferently.

“In this world, there is no such thing as fairness. It’s merely about the strong and the weak.”

“If you want to kill me, you can come at me all together right now. I want to see if you controllers are a bunch who speak without backing it up.”

Jia Yan spoke coolly.

In reality, he wasn’t truly afraid of this group attacking him, but he wanted to avoid this kind of situation if possible because he understood upon seeing them that even if he fought with all his strength, he might not necessarily overcome this group.

Though he was confident in escaping successfully, otherwise he wouldn’t have dared to come here.

Yet running away would be meaningless, as he wouldn’t be able to hold onto the territory he had just won.

So now he was testing with words to see if this group of so-called controllers would really adhere to their own rules and ‘fairness’.

Of course, this kind of fairness was somewhat limited, and it didn’t mean they were too friendly towards the moths, otherwise Jia Yan would definitely be attacked.

Fortunately, after looking at each other, the controllers nodded one by one.

“Alright then, since that’s the case, we’ll conduct the assessment on you. If you pass, you will inherit the territory of the moth.”

Zhengtang ultimately made this decision.

Originally, he had intended to kill Jia Yan right when he arrived at their controllers’ gathering spot, but upon seeing a child from the giant race behind Jia Yan, he changed his mind.

Because that child seemed interested in their battle, he wasn’t sure if the giant child had any relation to Jia Yan—if there was, they wouldn’t dare to kill Jia Yan.

Thus, the group of controllers instantly spread out before Jia Yan.

This building is large, but in reality, only this one room exists. There are probably some cavernous spaces inside, but right now the room is bare, with no furnishings, making it an ideal combat space.

“Alright, you who killed our controller and came for the assessment must undergo this series: the first round against two controllers, the second round against three controllers, continuing to the fifth round, where you’ll face six of us.”

“Let the first round begin.”

Listening to their speech, Jia Yan knew they were telling the truth.

The first round battle was against two controllers.

Jia Yan glanced at their strength, similar to the moth creature’s, seemingly among the weakest of the controllers.

Given this level of strength, Jia Yan looked around and felt he should keep a trump card.

“You managed to kill the moth, which means your strength surpasses either of us individually, but with the two controllers teaming up, you certainly can’t withstand us.”

“Huh, at this stage, must you still use tricks of language against me, gentlemen?”

Jia Yan exposed their intentions.

After all, being able to kill the moth does not necessarily mean being close to its strength; one might be far superior to the moth.

Did they really imply Jia Yan couldn’t defeat two controllers?

This was merely psychological warfare.

Such a confident being as Jia Yan, volunteering for the controller assessment—despite its despair-inducing nature—and they thought he couldn’t handle two? It defies logic, clearly psychological warfare.

The opponents saw Jia Yan wasn’t enraged or provoked by their words, only smiled slightly, knowing psychological warfare against a real strong one seldom worked.

At that moment, the two controllers finally unleashed their power, attacking Jia Yan.

From the sidelines, the controllers were all quietly watching the scene unfold.

“What do you think, how far can this Jia Yan go?”

“Heh, do we even need to speculate? Even if he somehow passes this two-man hurdle, he won’t surpass the next three-man trial. Can anyone imagine him overcoming the third round?”

“Whoever devised this assessment—probably some bigwig in our Alliance—surely designed a near-death experience for those attempting it, given the few who succeeded so far. Despite those possessing commendable talent and capability, it’s almost equivalent to signing one’s death warrant when challenging this.”

“Haha, is it not true? However, indeed in history, there have been individuals with excellent talent and combat power who managed to pass such a trial. Reportedly, our Alliance Lord once overcame this challenge himself, hence proving this assessment is not entirely futile. The scarcity of such individuals has resulted in this being seen as lethal in the general perception of challengers.”

The controllers present were skeptical about Jia Yan passing through the challenge, believing even if the first round was surpassed, the second round would be where he fails, or more likely, the third round would be insurmountable.

With no belief he could clear the third round, expecting him to overcome the fourth and fifth is even further from reality.

Even if Jia Yan’s power and talent were terrifyingly profound beyond their acceptance, the fifth round involving the six strongest controllers, including Zhengtang and the second strongest who had just spoken—both exceeding average controllers in power—meant it would certainly be a fatal conclusion for Jia Yan if he reached that point.

“Alright then, let’s see how far he can go; hopefully, we’ll get a chance to step in. It’s been so long since a proper fight occurred, time for a warm-up indeed.”

The controllers all smiled while watching the battle unfold.

As expected, after Jia Yan uncovered the two controllers’ plot, the battle commenced.

At the first instance, both sides clashed.

Jia Yan did not utilize his subspace talent; instead, he engaged in a brawl with the two controllers, a type of combat he had never experienced in this world.

Having seldom engaged in such battles due to his immense body strength and numerous techniques, Jia Yan never lacked the conditions for such a fight, but he didn’t see the need before.

But now he was pretending—as a close-quarters combat expert.

Given the extensive past experience he had, feigning to be a skilled brawler wasn’t impossible.

“Hmm? This Jia Yan is indeed strong, yet somewhat lesser than I expected.”

In the first instant of mutual aggression, neither side gained the upper hand, though Jia Yan slightly surpassed them.

Yet Zhengtang was immensely curious about Jia Yan’s current combat power.

To him, Jia Yan showed no fear in front of him earlier, leading him to believe that even if Jia Yan lacked Zhengtang’s power, it was close enough that facing two collaborating controllers would only pose a slight challenge, and not be so difficult.

Hence, his deep curiosity.
