Reborn As An Interstellar Giant Mosquito

Capítulo 1953: Chapter 8: One Strike

Could this be his way of probing me?

Vaguely, this Grand Elder was thinking too much again.

But Jia Yan was different; he was resolutely eager to hear the fundamentals.

“It’s alright, your excellency Grand Elder, I just want to hear your explanation of the basics because I always feel that the foundation is the cornerstone of our cultivation. Listening to several people’s interpretations must be right; maybe it will lead to a deeper understanding.”

Jia Yan’s reasoning was actually quite normal, so the Grand Elder did not suspect anything and nodded.

Let him listen then; a basic explanation surely can’t be stolen, can it?

He had no idea that Jia Yan was already planning to secretly learn.

Regarding the so-called ‘Path’ of this world, Jia Yan felt there was a necessity to listen.

After all, when translated through his own brainwave power, this Path was somewhat similar to the concepts he had encountered in Earth’s novels. So he was curious about what this mysterious thing would be like and whether it might be somewhat beneficial to his own power.

“Since you wish to listen, then listen. After all, I have never said that outsiders aren’t allowed to listen, nor have I claimed that strong ones from outside can’t gain anything from me.”

“However…”

While speaking, the Grand Elder suddenly gave a peculiar look.

“Since you want to listen to my teaching, surely I should also get something out of it, shouldn’t I? After all, for us strong ones, mutual contribution is the principle. Since you want to hear my Path, then I require something from you — perhaps your knowledge, or maybe your understanding of martial arts. Surely there isn’t any objection to this.”

Jia Yan was suddenly shocked upon hearing this from the Grand Elder.

“The Grand Elder is right, but you are offering only the basics; I cannot offer highly skilled techniques or insights, can I?”

Jia Yan was slightly startled, yet he didn’t show any abnormal feeling and merely expressed that the transaction seemed less than fair.

How could he offer some insights? That’s simply impossible because Jia Yan wasn’t from this world at all. If he were to reveal his battle insights from the outside world, it might not even be worthwhile but might expose his origins to the other party, which Jia Yan would never allow.

As Jia Yan expressed this, the Grand Elder just shook his head.

“You are mistaken, Your Excellency, I don’t want anything else — just for you to do one thing for me.”

“And that is to engage me in one strike.”

He stated.

Jia Yan was taken aback, one strike?

This might not be an excessive demand for ordinary situations; after all, between strong ones, having listened to someone’s teaching, engaging in a strike is merely a minor requirement.

Moreover, since it was mentioned amicably, this strike surely wouldn’t be executed with full force, so Jia Yan wouldn’t face any real danger.

However, considering his current circumstances, Jia Yan dared not agree to this transaction at all.

Even more than revealing any ‘Path,’ a strike would easily expose him.

After all, during combat, he would undoubtedly reveal something, allowing the opponent to effortlessly ascertain that his power or combat feelings differ entirely from the strong ones here, indicating he comes from elsewhere.

“Hmm, wait, wasn’t it mentioned before that this world is vast, even with countless expanses on a single small ground. So even if I say I’m from far away, this Grand Elder wouldn’t necessarily figure anything out.”

Reflecting on this, Jia Yan feigned contemplation for a while, then nodded.

“Alright, Grand Elder, I’ve said beforehand that the place I come from might be farther than you imagine. Perhaps my combat style is something you’ve never seen. So, if you notice anything peculiar, I hope you won’t be surprised. In any case, I harbor no ill intentions toward the nobles, merely wishing to make friends.”

Jia Yan first made clear the differences in his strength to the Grand Elder, such that if he observed anything unusual later, he wouldn’t suspect Jia Yan immediately.

“Haha, very well, in our world, various combat cultivation methods are innumerable like fish in a river, so even if you employ techniques unknown to me, it would be no surprise.”

The Grand Elder smiled faintly, seemingly accepting Jia Yan’s explanation.

“All right, come on then.”

Jia Yan knew that under these circumstances, his power might still differ from the Grand Elder’s, so he quickly propelled his brainwave power.

Unfortunately, his brainwave power couldn’t emanate beyond his body, preventing him from engaging with the Grand Elder in distant combat.

“Such fierce battle intent, there’s surprisingly such terrifying fighting spirit; it seems Your Excellency is not merely a nameless entity.”

The Grand Elder, who originally only intended to gauge Jia Yan’s strength, changed his expression upon sensing Jia Yan’s released battle intent.

To this Grand Elder, visitors from the outside like Jia Yan were not unfamiliar; he had even encountered external experts before, with habits of direct confrontation.

Indeed, within his level, his strength was akin to being invincible, often traversing the outside world, only returning home for a few years to rest before venturing out to continue challenging the world’s strong ones during future energetic times.
