Reborn As An Interstellar Giant Mosquito

Jia Yan thought of the many benefits of the Conceptual Ship and countless possibilities; his thoughts itched with restless excitement.

Of course, for now, he needed to find some energy to recharge.

”I’m completely out of currency. This is the first time I’ve been this broke in ages. Let’s see if I can find a way to earn some money in this Starboy Faction...”

Jia Yan had almost forgotten he was still in danger as he entered the main star of the Starboy Faction, seeking to earn some wealth.

At the same time, he controlled the Smart Brain mainframe to change the appearance of the Conceptual Ship, taking on the guise of a member of the Metal Monster Race.

Just as Jia Yan completed these actions, coincidentally or not, a small fleet slowly sailed in from the outer starry sky into this domain of the Starboy Faction.

”Hmph, after the battle that day, the fleet that destroyed my Northern Fleet is still nowhere to be found—what a disgrace for the North Group. But I have a feeling that the powerhouse who killed my brother has entered this Starboy Faction. Search thoroughly! As long as anyone comes within a thousand kilometers of me, I’ll be able to identify who it is!”

Within this fleet, a Semi-permanent Star Genius with Intermediate Talent issued these orders to his subordinates.

”Yes!”

The nearby creatures nodded anxiously in agreement. For several days, no culprit had been found, and that Semi-permanent Star Genius had already executed several of his subordinates in fits of rage.

Jia Yan entered the main star of the Starboy Faction, a planet several times larger than Earth but still of a terrestrial type.

The planet was teeming with life, some of which were incredibly powerful. Particularly noteworthy was a species resembling trees, which seemingly dominated as the primary race of this planet. Their strength surpassed the Secondary Level by an immeasurable margin, with most being Semi-permanent Stars with at least Intermediate Talent. Occasionally, one could spot a Semi-permanent Star Genius with High-level Talent.

”The Starboy Faction truly is frighteningly strong.”

Jia Yan looked around at the powerhouses in his surroundings, visibly astonished.

His entire body was now encased in metal, manifesting to the outside world as a creature resembling a metallic octopus.

”Hey, you there, come over here. You’re an Outsider, aren’t you? Fill out your information here.”

A patrolling Secondary Level powerhouse approached Jia Yan, pulling out an electronic form for him to register.

It turns out this planet had strict safety regulations, with countless rules detailing what was permissible and what was prohibited.

Violations could result in fines, forced labor imprisonment, or even execution by the Law Enforcers, depending on the offense.

The Starboy Faction had such power!

Jia Yan skimmed through the regulations and found nothing unreasonable. These seemed more like a formal warning, so he filled them out without much thought.

However, for his name, he used a previously adopted alias: Mo Ke.

”Alright, Mo Ke. Starboy City welcomes you. Go on in.”

The Secondary Level powerhouse smiled slightly after seeing Jia Yan’s completed form and offered him a word of welcome.

It should be noted that the metallic ’Jia Yan,’ using Cellular Power and aided by the Conceptual Ship’s energy, emanated a faint pressure equivalent to a late-stage Secondary Level powerhouse. Even more terrifying was his apparent innate Talent Level, which seemed to resemble a High-level Genius. Given that the other party was merely an Intermediate Genius, naturally, they treated Jia Yan with cordiality.

Jia Yan thanked him and then flew into Starboy City.

Calling it a city was an understatement—most of the planet’s surface fell under its urban scope.

”If I want to make money here, I have to find work. Obviously, routine jobs won’t suit me. Only work that matches my strength will do...”

Jia Yan wandered through the city, taking in the overall atmosphere of the planet while subtly learning about potential business opportunities.

The planet’s surface was mostly covered in green, with tall trees towering over a kilometer high—some even thousands of meters. Flying among these trees, Jia Yan felt like a real Mosquito in a forest, vines hanging down from every corner, creating a breathtakingly majestic sight.

Some houses were built into tree hollows, while others were simple log or earthen structures, resembling tiny dwarven dwellings amid the colossal forest.

”Hmm? Is that a Mercenary Organization?”

Jia Yan was startled by the sight of a certain building.

In the Northern Star Domain, the Mercenary Organization was a major power, practically dominating that portion of the stars. But since entering the Genius Battlefield, Jia Yan had not seen any trace of it.

Now, to discover remnants of the Mercenary Organization within the Starboy Faction—how could he not be surprised?

Jia Yan flew over. Although there were similar mercenary-like groups in Starboy City, he was more familiar with the Mercenary Organization and decided to check it out—there was no harm in visiting.

Clearly, the Mercenary Organization had become a small, insignificant faction within the Genius Battlefield. Its presence within the Starboy Faction was reduced to a modest storefront.

Inside were several monsters, some lounging together while consuming what looked like energy liquid—gourmet food for powerhouses. The scene felt more akin to a casual eatery.

However, missions were still posted on the walls.

Jia Yan wasted no time and approached the mission board.

In truth, during his time in the Northern Star Domain, Jia Yan had little interaction with the Mercenary Organization and had never accepted any of their missions.

”Eliminate a wanted serial killer named Bai Wu, hiding within the Starboy Faction. Strength: Semi-permanent Star with Intermediate Talent?”

Jia Yan shook his head at the first mission.

He knew his own strength—while he could barely manage a fight with a Secondary Level powerhouse with Intermediate Talent thanks to the Conceptual Ship’s assistance, he would likely lose against a High-level Genius at the same level, let alone a Semi-permanent Star powerhouse with Intermediate Talent.

Jia Yan was still coming to grips with his rapidly increased external power. If he mastered it fully, he might stand a chance against a High-level Genius at the Secondary Level.

”The second mission is a delivery task, bringing goods to another Genius Force. No questions are allowed about the cargo, and stealing it is strictly forbidden.”

Jia Yan began to understand—the Mercenary Organization had likely become a semi-illegal faction within the Genius Battlefield. Upon further inspection, most of the missions were either assassination jobs or involved facing deadly odds.

Clearly, the Mercenary Organization was not thriving in the Genius Battlefield.

”Oh? They pay a partial advance commission? Not bad.”

Jia Yan suddenly noticed a mission that seemed quite suitable for him.

This mission involved collaborating with other geniuses to explore an ancient site left behind by a cosmic explosion.

As mentioned before, the universe witnessed countless unexplained explosions. Some were stellar explosions; others involved energy materials. However, in civilized starfields, unexplained explosions typically referred to phenomena like subspace collapses, gravitational wave detonations, or other mysterious catastrophes.

The explosion mentioned in this mission was located less than 200 billion kilometers from the Starboy Faction’s northwestern edge. Its force wasn’t particularly strong, resulting in an area of a few million kilometers saturated with energy material.

”The mission poster specified that they only wanted a substance called Anti-Star Condensate. Everything else could be kept by the participants. They also promised to provide equipment and, crucially, pay a 30% advance commission.”

After confirming this mission’s feasibility, Jia Yan approached the Mercenary Union’s service window.

”Excuse me, is Mission Code 0083 still available?” Jia Yan asked.

The person at the window was a Secondary Level powerhouse who seemed visibly aged, perhaps a once-strong individual from External Forces barely allowed entry into the Genius Battlefield.

Looking up with drooping, weary eyes, the elder glanced at the metallic Jia Yan and nodded, ”Yes, young one. Are you here to take this mission?”

”I’d like to know more about it, as well as the terms for using the advanced commission,” Jia Yan replied.

Having likely answered similar questions numerous times, the elder brought up a document on the electronic screen in the counter and gestured for Jia Yan to look.

Jia Yan carefully reviewed the detailed terms and nodded.

”So, I need certain credentials to obtain the 30% advance commission. Something like a Black Card from the Mercenary Union?”

Jia Yan chuckled lightly, then, as if performing a magic trick, withdrew a black card from within his metallic body.

It turned out this Black Card had been gifted to him by the strongest being in the Chaos Starfield during his time in the Northern Star Domain. Jia Yan had never used it, and he wasn’t sure if it would still work here.

”Hmm? This card seems to come from quite a distant part of the Northern Star Domain, but it’s indeed valid within our Mercenary Organization,” the aged Secondary Level powerhouse said, a glint of sharp light flickering in his eyes. He nodded, indicating that Jia Yan could use the card.

The Black Card symbolized a prestigious identity within the Mercenary Organization. With it, Jia Yan could request the advance payment of 30% commission. Of course, if he defaulted, the Mercenary Organization had little recourse—after all, their power in the Genius Battlefield was limited.

Jia Yan withdrew 30% of the commission while the organization obtained his official Genius Battlefield number as a safeguard. If he abandoned the mission, they could use this unique number to track him down.

However, it was merely a number; they had no way of uncovering Jia Yan’s true identity.

After leaving the Mercenary Organization, Jia Yan flew toward a specific area of the city.

”I recall reading about this city having a large energy marketplace.”

Now at the Secondary Level, Jia Yan’s speed was not slow. He quickly arrived at a massive platform formed from several giant trees.

As he descended, he could feel waves of energy emanating from below, causing his Beast Evolution Body to itch with anticipation.

”So much energy! Incredible.” Jia Yan’s eyes gleamed as he flew downward.

”Come take a look! Ultra-high-density energy, mined from High Gravity Planets. Don’t miss out!”

”Today’s flash sale—energy from the Mysterious Star Cluster, available today only!”

”A thousand Genius Yuan won’t buy you love, it won’t grant you promotion, but it will greatly boost your power. Come and see for yourself!”
