Reborn As An Interstellar Giant Mosquito

”Everyone, retreat quickly. I’ll hold them off temporarily!”

Seeing the oncoming force at full speed, rapidly closing the hundred-kilometer distance, Jia Yan shouted into his communicator!

The Earth City ships were retreating even more quickly, but they were still hit by blasts of gunfire. Although their defensive energy screen deflected most of the attacks, under such circumstances, two small commercial ships were struck in their rear, emitting thick plumes of smoke.

Regardless of how powerful Jia Yan was, he was still not a mightily powerful Star Sky Beast, nor even particularly strong among Starry Sky Level Experts. His main strength was in his defense, which allowed him to continuously take hits but he couldn’t fend off everything.

As the Earth City Fleet beat a hasty retreat, Jia Yan’s impressive defense had left the star thieves rather taken aback.

One of the star thieves hypothesized that Jia Yan, this expert, might be a newcomer in the Grey-Yellow Star, because such powerful beings are typically dispatched by official star civilizations.

”Whether he is an official or not, all we need to do is to kill him. If nobody knows about this matter, there won’t be any problem,” a monster in the star thief ship said, surreptitiously licking something that resembled a gigantic lollipop, his voice dark and sinister.

”Right. What does it matter if he’s a Starry Sky Level? In space, only battleships are kings. Even if he is a powerful Starry Sky Level without accompanying battleships to assist, his combat power poses no threat to us!”

”That’s right! And don’t get too close. First, kill this monster. After that, we’ll pursue that fleet. A large fleet like that, especially one with a Starry Sky Level Guard, obviously has good stuff!”

Greedy voices echoed throughout the star thief’s ship.

”But...I somehow feel I’ve heard about him before,” contemplated the star pirate leader as he looked at the Big Mosquito, his whole body a glowing blue, constantly blocking the star thieves’ attacks in the virtual screen. He was momentarily lost in thought.

However, he couldn’t come up with any answers and soon gave up on this thought.

The star thieves escalated their attacks. They didn’t directly charge at Jia Yan; they knew well the power of a Starry Sky Level expert, having seen or heard about many such encounters. Even in Scholz’s star system, some of the star thief groups had perished under the attack of Star Sky Beasts of the Grey-Yellow Star.

They maintained a boundary of about fifty kilometers. At this distance, they could maximize their attack power, and Jia Yan couldn’t reach them. He could only passively take hits!

The ten Star Pirate Ships moved like ghosts. Each about a hundred meters in size, some even smaller, almost the same size as Jia Yan. That suggested the creatures inside couldn’t be too powerful. Yet, they were thrashing a Cosmic Level monster now. The sight drove the star thieves into a frenzy of excitement.

After all, they were taking on a Starry Sky Level!

”Can’t believe they are attacking like this!”

Jia Yan was infuriated as the attacks came from a distance of fifty kilometers or so. If he were in the atmosphere, he could have used his high-speed flight to get to their side in an instant. After all, with speeds reaching or even exceeding fifty times the speed of sound, it would only take a few seconds for him to get to them.

But now they were in space!

Jia Yan’s previous flight training was inadequate for space battles. If he used full speed, he would lose agility. By the time he would get near, the nimble Star Pirate Ships would already have moved from their original position, making it impossible for him to take a hit!

”This is getting bad!”

Jia Yan noticed that after each attack he took and blocked with his forefoot, the cracks in his already weakened foot, which initially cracked during the Grey-Yellow Star battle, became more extensive, sinking his spirits!

If he were in perfect health, Jia Yan could have afforded a long struggle against each of these battleships. But that was impossible now! If he continued to stand in the way, he might himself be seriously injured, or even killed!

What was even worse was that Jia Yan noticed five of the ten star thief battleships had gradually given up attacking him and instead started pursuing the Earth City Fleet, leaving him behind.!

This was space, a vast emptiness. There was nowhere to hide or corners to defend. So, all Jia Yan could do at this moment was watch helplessly, without any solution in sight!

The Earth City Fleet was still unable to accelerate while the pursuing star thieves, due to flying inertia, were several times faster, so the gap between both sides was closing rapidly!

The situation was dire!

Just when Jia Yan braced himself to deploy all his power, intending to body-slam the five Star Pirate Ships attacking him--

A dazzling beam of light fiercely shot out from a point around two hundred kilometers away!

The beam wasn’t particularly powerful but extremely accurate. It landed a direct hit on the Star Pirate Ship that was about to chase the Earth City transport ship.

Even though the Star Pirate Ship’s defense was activated, the ship did not disintegrate instantly. Instead, after turning a somersault, it gave the impression of being on the verge of shattering.

After all, Star Pirate Ships prioritize attack over defense, so their defense is not particularly strong.
