Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 5194: Taking A Venerable Knight Hostage?

’Caught you...’

The very moment Davis imprisoned the Celestial Transcendent inside the Death Domain using the white stone replica, it simultaneously unleashed the ghosts and corpses stored within its living space.

These hundreds and thousands of ghosts and corpses were all collected by the Ghost Tear Hall’s Founder. They ranged from Immortal Kings all the way up to the Exalt Stage. The undead at the Exalt Stage or Primarch Stage were quite limited at merely a few dozen, but it didn’t matter since the white replica could raise their prowess to its current level for a short period of time.

Davis was the owner of the white replica, and the undead were all his prisoners, sealed inside it. If he didn’t want them out, they wouldn’t be able to escape. He Willed them to do his bidding- drain the Celestial Transcendent of his vitality, but he didn’t expect him to fall prey to them, much less the domain, since his defenses were impeccable and his body ridiculously dense as well as possessing a mindboggling regeneration capability, not to mention an array of techniques and even different types of energies that form counters.

This was just for one avatar. Davis couldn’t imagine how many were going to come at him right now.

It was no wonder Fairy Qiyra Darkstar and the Frostcloud Sword Empress repeatedly advised him that it was not a good idea to face the Celestial Transcendent, and if one avatar is found, chances are that there is also a second one nearby!

However, he didn’t go for the avatar.

He refocused his lock on Venerable Knight Lussandra, making her scalp turn numb.

With a sword in her remaining hand, she raised it over her face, pointing at him as she gathered a tumultuous storm of energy behind her.

Davis didn’t bother wasting time with words, considering he gave himself two seconds to eradicate this annoyance. However, with Venerable Knight Lussandra being an Absolute Primarch, he doubted he could finish her within that timeframe.

Assuming she wasn’t one of her avatars created from her verdant wings, he closed in on her.

”Stop.”

”...!”

He said the same thing to her she said to him when he nearly beheaded the Celestial Transcendent and tried to seal him because he knew killing wouldn’t be possible unless his death energy could get to the soul and destroy it, which he felt was also meaningless since it was extremely possible that without inflicting significant damage, it would be impossible to destroy the chaos soul the Celestial Transcendent has.

With the layer limit acting on them both, his prowess shouldn’t go any higher, so he guessed he might have to kill the Celestial Transcendent a few more times.

At their levels, the quick way to deal with undying beings was to seal!

Nonetheless, the word ’stop’ was imbued with his Will, making Venerable Knight Lussandra come to a momentary stop even as she was ready to unleash a sword technique at him.

With his Grand Chaos Ghost Body and Hateless Ghost Emperor Steps, he instantly closed the distance and struck with the scythe horizontally, the edge of the black-yellow curved blade imbued with the scythe intent he had just comprehended and suppressed the Celestial Transcendent with.

*Rip!~*

Venerable Knight Lussandra managed to break it in time, dealing Davis’s Will some backlash that made his brows quiver.

She quickly struck at the scythe with her sword, but it shattered like glass, with her technique failing to be unleashed and exploding inward. The curved black-yellow blade of the scythe then left her with a gash on her stomach, causing her to bleed profusely. It almost looked as though it was going to open with her guts spilling out, causing her to hold her stomach.

Davis slashed her and whizzed past her as he spun the scythe with his hand, passed it onto the next hand, and slashed vertically at her body, but only cutting off one of her three remaining verdant wings, even though she almost succeeded in dodging.

She tried to shoot forward away from him in an attempt to gain distance. As long as she could gain distance and use her bow and arrow, she would dominate the battlefield, but her blue hair was abruptly grabbed by his hand.

”Ah...!”

Venerable Knight Lussandra felt her head yanked back. Almost instantaneously, she was about to cut off her hair with her hand shaped in the form of a blade, but a scythe was quickly placed over her neck, its cold sharpness resting against her neck as it made her gasp lightly.

”Don’t move.”

Davis said softly as he held her head with his hand firmly gripping through her hair, death energy descending to shroud her with a fear of death. Even with her powerful Will, she found it difficult to stop herself from trembling.

With the scythe intent and the ghostly yang death energy that threatened to corrupt and rob away her vitality, she knew she might have to lose her fleshly body today, barely escaping with her soul. However, even that was questionable since he firmly held her head within his palm as he kept suppressing her soul.

She felt like she had a fifty-fifty chance of escaping with her soul.

Just before she could make the decision, the dark sphere in the distance receded, and the Celestial Transcendent showed himself.

Davis shot a look at him after deactivating the Death Domain after noticing it had cracked, ”As expected, the domain didn’t even last three seconds against you. Really, I’ve never experienced so many failures...”

He sighed and said calmly, ”If you don’t want her head lopped off, why don’t you seal yourself in that Stormheart Incarnation Prism?”

”...”

After a moment of silence as his Grand Chaos Ghost Body receded, his lips curled into a faint smile.

”No! Take me down with him.” Venerable Knight Lussandra echoed even as her pupils quivered with the fear of death from the death energy trying to overwhelm her soul.

Her energy rose abruptly, causing Davis to place the scythe over her neck even more as he turned into a more compact and comfortable form of a sickle.

It caused Venerable Knight Lussandra’s burst of strength to falter.

”Don’t!” The Celestial Transcendent raised his hand, ”I’m just an avatar. Your life is more important.”

”That’s right.” Davis’s grin turned more shady, ”What’s more important than Little Lussandra’s life right now? You really couldn’t bear parting with such a sincere and hard-working woman, right? Oh, this girl even thinks of you as her father? Godfather? Interesting. No wonder she risked herself to save a mere avatar when I thought it was a stupid move instead.”

”You-”

The Celestial Transcendent pointed at him, ”Did you know she was the person who spoke for you even when every other Heaven’s Warriors were vilifying you? Did you know she was the one who decided to prioritize innocent lives over calls for your death!?”

”I know.”

Davis narrowed his brows, a flicker of anger quickly appearing and disappearing from his gaze, ”That’s why I’m sincerely disappointed that it has come to this.”

He turned her head to make her look at him forcefully, ”Why did you, of all people, have to break the agreement we exchanged and even harm one of my people? My Illumina almost died because of your arrows if I hadn’t managed to help her in time. I trusted you out of all Heaven’s Warriors, so why!?”

Venerable Knight Lussandra’s mesmerizing golden eyes quivered.
