Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 5191: Fists Alone Are Enough

Davis heaved a sigh of relief since he saw Fairy Qiyra Darkstar help him steal the sword.

He was afraid that she wouldn’t, but he supposed he gave her real confidence as he displayed his might while battling the Celestial Transcendent. His lips couldn’t help but curl with some pride.

He clenched his scythe, imbuing it with death energy with the property of ghostly yang again and again. The blade was pitch-black but carried an unearthly yellow at the edges. The continuous stream of energy restored the nicks and gouges of the scythe manifestation.

He needed it to be stronger and stronger and form into an intent since it wasn’t easy attacking or defending against the Celestial Transcendent’s sword attacks. Each of his sword swings was devastating enough to cleave any expert’s limbs at the layer limit. When the latter used his techniques, the realization of death came forcing into his soul.

Without the Voidroach Blackcurse Movement Art, he would be hard-pressed to slip away from the dense force of chaos suppressing him and the terrifying sword energy trying to rip him apart.

He could try to use his Will, but that would force him into a battle of Will, which he didn’t want to. Not only did he need to keep his Will firm and standing, but he also needed to protect Evelynn with it. He wasn’t going to chip his Will fighting it with the Celestial Transcendent.

The Celestial Transcendent didn’t chase Davis instantly.

He watched the Astral Night Demoness disappear before he panned his gaze around. Before he knew it, the other Divergents had disappeared. Fairy Runalise remained, her white eyes narrowed as though she wanted to witness the result of the battle.

Looking away, he could tell that those Divergents hadn’t escaped but were lying in wait in the darkness to explode with their plan at the right moment.

Nonetheless, he lowered his gaze and looked at his palm, which was charred a bit. Davis’s sneaky destruction attack didn’t manage to make his arm explode since the destruction energy Davis used had been weak, tottering into High-Level Exalt Stage, but the mix of chaos and destruction was something he still couldn’t control, but only limit the harm.

It managed to loosen his grip on the sword, causing him to lose the rusted sword. However, he didn’t feel ashamed or shocked. There was no thought in his head other than him reminiscing about his days with this rusted sword that was once glowing and full of life.

He had far outclassed it, but even before that, its spirit died trying to save him. Having been attached to it billions of years ago, then having forgotten it altogether until certain moments when he would use it with his avatars as a keepsake, he supposed it was time he let it go.

He had wanted to improve it, but knew its spirit wouldn’t ever return unless an expert with reincarnation energy and an armament spirit expert was able to revive it. However, too much time has passed, not to mention it was a chaotic sword spirit, which had way less chances of being revived due to its sheer density.

The fact that it was born alone was a blessing he couldn’t have hoped for, but for it to have remained with him this long, he supposed he could only allow it to rest and be reborn as something else.

’Farewell, old Cloudslasher...’

He raised his head and heaved a silent breath. He then suddenly chuckled, thinking it would be funny if he reclaimed it today.

”What are you laughing at after losing your sword?” Davis returned the insult, before expectantly blinking, ”Come on, take another one out, or are you so poor that you can’t afford another chaotic sword? Perhaps a chaotic spear?”

The Celestial Transcendent raised his hand, shaking his finger at him, ”Do you think I lack for such swords or other armaments?”

He then clenched his fist and harrumphed, ”Never mind. Having another armament targeted by a bandit doesn’t sit well with me. My fists alone are enough for you, allowing me to deal with you flexibly like your scythe.”

He moved forward, and its momentum increased with each step of the Chaotic Flux Steps, but instead of oppressing Davis with its sheer density, it caused the Celestial Transcendent’s speed to rise many times.

Davis narrowed his eyes, long having readied himself even for someone unexpected to appear and behead him.

The Celestial Transcendent’s fist came like it zoomed into him, not just fast but inevitable. He could barely see chaos energy condensing into knuckles over his fists.

*Boom!~*

The moment it connected with Davis’s scythe, he felt the black-yellow blade was bound to be broken. However, the black-yellow blade hissed as violet-black flames licked across its edge and surged like corrosive energy eating through silk.

Yinfire!

Davis’s eyes widened as he felt his death energy infused with ghostly yang curl in a terrified manner when the flames touched. Instead of thriving on corrosive yin flames since ghostly yang should also have great resistance to yin energy, as it is full of vitality, he saw the scythe manifestation being smothered and consumed in the violet-black flames.

He harrumphed and hurriedly wrenched the scythe as he swung it against the Celestial transcendent’s flaming fist, hurriedly retreating a full step. He imbued more death energy to overwhelm the yinfire, countering his ghostly yang.

”Interesting reaction you have there.” The Celestial Transcendent chuckled, but he had immediately followed, chaos twisting with his palm mid-strike. From spiraling violet-black flames, it returned to chaos and then abruptly changed into a viscous dark water that had strange yellow motes.

The strange water came at him like a tidal wave, splashing him. There wasn’t much force behind it, but it chilled him to the core.

The death energy surrounding him was instantly snuffed out, leaving his defenses nearly empty.

”This is...” Davis’s pupils dilated.

”Water from the Asura Dimension, also known as Underworld Water that drains vitality...” The Celestial Transcendent leisurely chuckled.

At that moment, Davis knew he couldn’t retreat, but he couldn’t help but retreat.

The Celestial Transcendent didn’t follow suit but shaped his fist into a palm and slashed at him. His chaos energy condensed from viscous to airy, something even colder than what people would find in forgotten graves. That cold airiness slowly sped past the abyssal cavity and reached Davis before he could even realize it.

He barely managed to dodge it, but it still brushed along his sleeve, causing Davis to feel as though his meridians were giving out, the replica’s ghostly yang death energy siphoned away into nothing as though it was spirited away.

”Tch!” Davis snapped his scythe in a wide defensive arc, forcing distance, but the Celestial Transcendent didn’t allow it. His steps closed the gap in an instant, Chaotic Flux Steps carrying him forward with unnatural speed, and his fourth strike bloomed into a deep, waterlogged brown wood, but it appeared wrong, splintered, and turned into a mess of weeping decay.

It struck the haft of his scythe directly this time, and Davis felt something crawl through the manifestation itself, an insidious blight spreading from the point of contact, causing the density of his death energy along that section to soften, to weaken, as though termites had found their way into something that shouldn’t have been able to rot at all.

He gritted his teeth and released more ghostly yang energy from the replica into the weapon, burning the rot away before it could spread further, but he was losing ground with every exchange, forced back step by step across the deep cavity.

”Nether Wind and Rotten Wood... how were they?”

”...”

Davis looked incensed.

”Haha,” The Celestial Transcendent laughed. He didn’t stop his movements as his arms moved illusorily, his chaos energy within his palms constantly transmuting, ”I have many more types of energy that counter your ghostly yang. Tell me when you want to be sealed obediently and I’ll-”

He flicked his sleeves and pointed at Davis, sending out purple-green lightning.

*Bang!*

Davis used the scythe manifestation to defend, but this lightning was like water, quickly encompassing him and making him half kneel as he felt his death energy undergo another round of drain.

It was some kind of yin-attributed divine lightning, but he didn’t know what it was.

”You shameless senior! Stop attacking me with energies from other dimensions and strange stars! This is cheating!” He couldn’t help but roar.

Before he could even adapt to one energy, another kind of energy appears and made him disoriented, especially when these energies were invading his body.

He couldn’t even use the Voidroach Blackcurse Movement Art because he knew these kind of attacks would just be spammed, and then his movement art easily countered.

The less he showed the escape technique, the better it was for him. He only wanted to use it to escape life-threatening attacks.

”Tsk, tsk. Someone who knows chaos-destruction shouldn’t be complaining.” The Celestial Transcendent clicked his tongue twice before his lips curled, raising his hand and pointing at himself with his thumb finger, ”Eat my Myriad Origins Fist again and again until you realize the futility of fighting me, the Celestial Transcendent.”

He opened his fist into a blossoming palm, revealing an obsidian light that shook Davis to the core.

Davis was starting to wonder if the Celestial Transcendent also knew the Five Elements Laws.

Nonetheless, he stood up and said coldly, ”You forced me this early.”

*Bzzz!~*

The twin replicas within his soul went into overdrive, supplying him with a huge amount of ghostly yang death energy. But instead of flowing out of his body, they all went to his chaotic seed, powering its essence.

His blonde hair turned black-yellow, and his sapphire eyes were fully painted in black. His body turned spectral like a true ghost, but possessed incomparable vitality as his flesh seemed to be in a state between real and illusory.

”Grand Chaos Ghost Body.”
