Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 5149: The Cowardly Fatty

The handsome fatty let out another long, mournful sigh. His shoulders drooped dramatically as though he carried the weight of the entire world upon them.

“I truly didn’t expect to run into the Divine Emperor of Death.”

His voice echoed across the hall, instantly grasping the attention of all, including the Supreme One’s.

He slowly paced before the gathered elders, hands clasped behind his back.

“Two months ago, right before the start of Desolate Era, I was near the Southern Abyssal Sea. I happened to discover a low cultivation base junior sneaking through a strong spatial tunnel and naturally, being the righteous, courageous, handsome and peerless Peak Primarch I am, I chased after him.”

Several elders instantly rolled their eyes. Wasn’t this just a bandit seeking to loot treasures?

The handsome fatty ignored them as he said solemnly, “I caught him sneaking around as he moved through spatial tunnels. Before he could escape, I locked the space and directly confronted him. I instantly recognized he was the Divine Emperor of Death, for I was paying attention to the news about him. For a Peak Primarch like me, even if he has some great treasures, he couldn’t easily escape.”

The handsome fatty shook with excitement, “At that moment, I knew my time to become a hero had come. But unexpectedly…”

*Thud!*

He took a few steps back and turned towards the Supreme One, abruptly kneeling with a knee-breaking sound.

“He directly knelt like this and begged for forgiveness.”

The handsome fatty clasped his hands and cried out, “Oh, Handsome Exalted Venerate, please let me go! Please spare my life!”

“…”

A vein appeared on the Supreme One’s forehead.

But the Handsome Fatty seemed to be in his own world. Wiping away his imaginary tears, he said, “He looked pitiful. He begged along the lines of these words before revealing his true face as he started threatening me because I wouldn’t let him leave.”

He stood up and continued, “At first, I naturally refused to let him leave. However-“

Pausing dramatically, he waited for some face in the crowd to grow impatient before saying.

“He directly brought out the Heaven-Burying Mountain Scripture!”

“Whoa!”

A wave of commotion spread through the hall.

“Yes, it was the genuine and authentic Heaven-Burying Mountain Scripture, but at that time, I didn’t know and had no way to confirm; hence I was still unmoved.”

“Heh!” The handsome fatty sneered, “That brat dared to negotiate. He offered to give the manual to me to let him go, but I said, ‘I’ll still get this manual after you die regardless’, but he sneered like I was a fool, telling me that he was undying and that he would burn the Heaven-Burying Mountain Scripture along with him to ashes.”

Several elders instantly frowned.

“Exactly!” The handsome fatty pointed at them before slapping his thighs, “That was my reaction too. I had numerous thoughts flashing past my mind. I mean, what if he was telling the truth?”

“What if the scripture disappeared forever? What if the future generations lost this supreme inheritance? What if the woman I love, Aatura, never obtains it?”

He dramatically pointed towards her before an expression of pain filled his face, “What if the Stone Titan Race, the Rogazok Clan, never rose to prominence? What if our path to dominance was severed because of this?”

“I dared not take a gamble!” He roared, seemingly out of breath with his eyes wide, “For my Aatura and the Stone Titan Race, and for myself, I had no choice but to let him go. I endured humiliation and managed to obtain the Heaven-Burying Mountain Scripture.”

The Supreme One’s nostrils nearly flared as he kept his smile, “So you’re saying you let him go and inevitably caused the Desolate Era to occur?”

“No, no, no!” The handsome fatty nearly jumped from that accusation. He turned and hurriedly shook his hands.

“How can that be? Okay, I might’ve exaggerated the kneeling and begging part, but think about it. I suspected he had allies nearby, and I was right!”

He said indignantly, “I’m just a rogue cultivator even if I’m a Peak Primarch. Why should I put myself in grave danger? I can’t survive against someone who could become a Desolate Divergent. Besides, I’m not a Heaven’s Warrior to put my life on the line. I have ninety-nine wives to take care of and another one here. I heard it was Venerable Knight who failed to kill him, and even the Realm Master failed to keep him here. How can a small fatty like me compare? I’m just a big family man!”

“…” The Supreme One’s expression withered.

On the other hand, the elders nearly exploded with rage.

“You cowardly fatty!!!”

“You dare want our Aatura when you’re just a damned coward who failed to eliminate the Divine Emperor of Death when you had the chance!?”

“Ridiculous!” The handsome fatty countered with a roar as he barred his terrifying teeth that cowed the elders, “If I didn’t make that deal, would your clan have been able to gain what you have today!? Why are you not kneeling to me!? By the end of the day, I should have my tablet placed in your Ancestral Hall!”

“You-!” The elders could only freeze from shame and became tongue-tied.

At the end of the day, this damned fatty really did help them. They were not ingrates, at least they liked to think so, but dealing with the Divine Emperor of Death, was this bastard trying to get them killed!?

“Babe, the tablet’s only for the dead~” Aatura said with some concern in her eyes.

“Why don’t I help him achieve that?” The Supreme One chuckled.

“No, no- I spoke too hastily.” The handsome fatty became guarded with an awkward expression on his face, “Too hastily~”

The Supreme One stepped forward as he still maintained his calm smile, “You must be thinking I’m easier to turn away because you’ve heard that I was a good and benevolent ruler, but it’s not surprising considering the world has always loved to avoid confronting evil yet turn around and offend good people instead. In your case, I presume it’s about loyalty.”

“…”

Handsome Fatty averted his gaze, his heart skipping a beat in fear.

The Supreme One chuckled, “Alright, how about this? Why don’t you swear to the heavens that what you said was true? If you lied, as a Primarch, your next tribulation would be greatly harmful, but factoring in the Desolate Divergent, it would be strange if you didn’t die right now. If you don’t get hit by lightning, I’ll walk away right now.”

“…”

Handsome Fatty held his breath. He went silent as he gazed at the Supreme One before shooting a look at Aatura.

Aatura shook her head ever so lightly, telling him not to do it as her eyes turned misty.

The Handsome Fatty nodded and slapped his chest.

“I, Bjorn Mazzork, have seen the Divine Emperor of Death months ago and later managed to bring the Heaven-Burying Mountain Scripture to this clan to help them grow and ask for Aatura’s hand in marriage. If my words were to be false, let the heavens strike me to death by lightning!”

“…!”

Everyone was shocked by his oath.

Aatura shook, her face turning pale.

However, even after a few moments passed amidst the silence, there was no lightning bolt, much less a rumbling.

The Supreme One looked at him with narrowed eyes.

Such a plain and unrelated oath. Did this fatty take himself to be a fool?

Just before he could open his mouth, a bunch of his messaging talismans began to ring, making him frown. He then took out one of them.

A Venerable Elder roared, “Supreme One, Madam Wesley has been kidnapped from the Fourth Bastion City! We suspect it’s that ghost or even the Divine Emperor of Death, as there are traces of death energy!”

“How did he know about her specialty!? No matter who it is, don’t let them escape!”

The Supreme One roared into the messaging talisman before raising his head and looking at Fatty with wide eyes. He seemed extremely pissed that this Madam Wesley had been kidnapped.

“…”

The fatty lowered his head and nearly shrunk like a dead shrimp, feeling his soul almost leave his body.

But before he knew it, the Supreme One disappeared.

He took a few steps back, nearly falling to his butt, but Aatura caught him, looking at him with faint worry and confusion in her eyes, but the most prominent source of confusion was how the fatty did not get struck by lightning.

The Handsome Fatty took a few deep breaths amidst the pounding heart as he recalled.

He did see the Divine Emperor of Death from a distance- miserably fleeing after a battle with Realm Master Malzor Hexadra, if he were to take a guess. At that time, it left a profound impression on him because it was a scene that was right out of the historical apocalypse records, since the dark crimson clouds were still there while the world turned upside down with many people running for their lives amidst the onset of numerous calamities, including him.

The fleeing Divine Emperor of Death didn’t seem like the one who brought the Desolate Era but the wrathful heavens instead.

At that moment, he was pissed- at the heavens! At that time was also the moment he gained profound respect for a cultivator who could face the heavens and survive under the most ridiculous tribulation he had ever seen.
