Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 5174: Hostage Exchange?

The Celestial Transcendent’s smile waned.

The atmosphere turned heavy, making Davis feel as though he was going to suffocate if it weren’t for the black-white stone in his hand.

The Celestial Transcendent snorted as he pointed at Davis, “Brat, I haven’t even dealt with you for harassing my granddaughter, and you want to threaten me with my son-in-law? Do you want to die in the truest sense after I find a way to end you once and for all?”

“Heh!” Davis scoffed as he pointed at him, “You slapped me to death for that very reason. Don’t pretend otherwise. Now that we’re even, don’t even think about bringing up that issue again. I didn’t even know she was your granddaughter when I fought her. It wasn’t until I crushed like now and was forced to-“

He paused for a moment, not knowing how to explain that he hid his blood inside one of her wounds and karmically reformed through the Blood Tempest Physique, managing to obtain some of her recent memories.

“Courting death!”

The Celestial Transcendent finally stood up as his voice boomed. His white hair rose to the skies as they flailed.

Davis felt an extreme pressure fall on him, causing his breathing to falter. He couldn’t even absorb energy from the surroundings anymore as everything swirled around the Celestial Transcendent.

He looked like he had arrived from another world as a huge spiraling vortex surged behind him.

“Alright, alright.” Davis raised his hands, “As men who dislike and even loathe those who touch our family members, I understand your rage. I have scratched your bottom line, but it is your granddaughter who first messed with my merchant. She wanted to find the Divine Emperor of Death in order to deal with me. She has no business doing that unless she wants in on our fight. Isn’t it your responsibility to discipline her? Otherwise, how is she uninvolved in this matter?”

“…”

The Celestial Transcendent narrowed his eyes as he glared at Davis.

Fairy Qiyra Darkstar’s gaze flickered. She warned Davis not to mess with the Celestial Transcendents’ granddaughter. It seemed like it was the right call as he could see him calming down.

A few seconds later, the Celestial Transcendent’s white hair sank, and the spiraling vortex dispersed, but the storm around him no longer moved any of his clothes or his hair strands. He stood like a statue, appearing poised to end Davis in one strike again.

However, he averted his gaze.

He couldn’t say that he did indeed ground his granddaughter, right? There was no need for him to say it.

All things considered, he inwardly sighed and returned his gaze to Davis, not knowing when this brat had grown so bold. He couldn’t sense any fear from him.

Had he given him too much leeway?

However, he didn’t underestimate the Divine Emperor of Death, the first Desolate Divergent.

Anyone who has comprehended Level Three Obscure Intent in Enigmatic Heart Laws was a worthy opponent. Only, the cultivation base was lacking, but still, he didn’t dare underestimate him, and neither did he overestimate him.

So what under the heavens did the Divine Emperor of Death do to act so confident?

“What’s your demand?” He asked coldly, “Is it to ignore you this time in order to get you to release my son-in-law?”

Davis blinked, “Celestial Transcendent, are you drunk?”

He instantly pointed at the skies, “Why would I exchange the precious hostage for this?”

The Celestial Transcendent didn’t have to look up to know that he was talking about the source of the Desolate Era.

“I told you,” Davis shrugged, “We’ll exchange your son-in-law for a particular demand of mine under the supervision of Jiayi Crystalveil. Of course, I know you’re monitoring her with one of your avatars. There’s no need to bother threatening me. Just go ahead and harm her, but I swear if I escape today, I’ll start killing every bystander I see for the next thousand years and say that the Celestial Transcendent got them killed. That is the price the world will pay for her death.”

The Celestial Transcendent narrowed his eyes.

This brat was actually threatening him to protect Jiayi Crystalveil not only from him but also the others.

“You seem to care about her a lot.” He chuckled angrily, “Aren’t you afraid that she’ll betray you? In the end, she’s just a merchant who’s after profits.”

“That’s between us. I can kill her, but no one else can.” Davis shook his head coldly.

“So, you’re telling me that you’re confident enough to face me and my other avatars, Heaven’s Warriors, major power experts, and many others while trying to end the Desolate Era?” The Celestial Transcendent sounded confused.

He still couldn’t understand what made the Divine Emperor of Death so confident.

The others also trembled when he brought out the Stormheart Incarnation Prism, so he felt like he had the upper hand unless they were acting.

“Aren’t you also busy with the battlefield?” Davis waved his hand dismissively, “If these forces of yours all chose me, you lose this realm and let the hydra galaxy take over and gain a foothold. If they chose the battlefield, then perhaps this realm could be saved. What do you think is the right decision to make here?”

“Hahaha.”

The Celestial Transcendent laughed heartily, “Of course, to gather on the battlefield. For a little young master like you, I alone am more than enough, much less my avatars, but don’t worry, Little Lussandra will soon be here. You bullied her quite a bit. My earlier palm was meant for that, not for my granddaughter. As for my son-in-law, you’d better not hold him as a shield. Otherwise, I will show no mercy.”

“I already told you.” Davis sneered, “I’m not going to use your son-in-law here. In fact, I’m more interested in learning why you, the Supreme Ruler of the human race, didn’t go to the Elemental Dimension and save Zhao Yan yourself when your daughter was suffering so much.”

“…” The Celestial Transcendent narrowed his eyes, but Davis continued.

“After all, I don’t believe you couldn’t save him. Let me guess, you formed some kind of pact or agreement with the Supremes of the Elemental Dimension, didn’t you?”

Davis smirked, “Did you abandon him there because you disapproved of him, or did you gain some benefits from the Supremes there? I’m curious. What kind of deal did you make with them?”

The Celestial Transcendent looked at him with a speechless gaze before he scoffed.

“Indeed,” His lips curled, “I made a deal with them to spare my daughter since she was killed by a Realm Calamity inside the Elemental Dimension and her soul taken by a Supreme. Hmm, I had no choice but to let Zhao Yan survive on his own instead, as he spent time imprisoned there, and it took him, so- so, painfully long to return that my second daughter… she might’ve well as remained dead for all of us from that moment due to their undying love.”

He said in a self-mocking tone before a bitter voice emerged from him, “Now you’re holding him hostage after he finally made it back and allowed my second daughter to wake up. You tell me if I should make haste in finding you and getting Zhao Yan back or simply slaughter all of you and bring his soul back from the Reincarnation Dimension. Which is faster? Which would make my second daughter happy? Which would make the world safer?”

He laughed mockingly, “These are all questions I have to deal with while you stand in front of me, so I ask you again.”

His tone became sharp as his pupils quivered, “Will you hand over Zhao Yan right now or not?”

“It’s impossible since he’s not here, but eventually, we will have a deal after I deal with this.”

Davis flicked his other hand and brought out a white stone, “I suppose with this, my chances of prevailing are above fifty for sure.”

“…”

The Celestial Transcendent narrowed his eyes, noticing that this was the aura of the treasure on that ghost. Was that ghost also the Divine Emperor of Death? How was that possible?

“You took care of that ghost?” He instantly asked.

“Kind of- in the City Lord Manor, where you missed me.” Davis chuckled. He couldn’t hide the sneer in his voice.

“…”

The Celestial Transcendent heaved a breath, finally understanding why this brat was so confident.

The second treasure he pulled out was indeed at the layer limit. What’s more, he felt the likelihood that it was the replica of the Tablet of Life and Death was high. It was as he had been worried before.

The Divine Emperor of Death was nearing the lost fused primeval treasure of the Tablet of Life and Death and Essence Thread of Karma.

He clenched his fist and smirked, “Then, let me see you withstand my attack again.”

Davis cackled, “Don’t hold back from now on because I won’t hold back either until I destroy all of your avatars that come here to court death.”

“Too arrogant!”

The Celestial Transcendent’s figure disappeared, instantly standing before Davis as he punched out, his fist causing space to distort and crack under the pressure.

“Too sinful.” Davis moved his head away as he uttered.

*Bang!~*

The Celestial Transcendent’s arm exploded into a bloody mess, making him miss Davis’s face as he rushed past him before turning around. He touched his shoulder and was surprised to see that it was also gone.

No- half his right upper body was missing, making his pupils flicker with surprise.

Davis’s sapphire pupils also flickered with surprise.

With two replicas in his hand, his prowess had also reached the layer limit. Even though his psyche was draining fast, it didn’t matter to him since he had a firm Will to support the drain and not get easily tired.

Either way, shouldn’t a kill result in a kill when Judgment Laws were used?

Just how strong was the Celestial Transcendent’s body? It wasn’t even the main body but a damned avatar out of hundreds and thousands!
