Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 5173: Return Of The Ghost Will

The Celestial Transcendent sat in the open skies, cross-legged, and his palms cupped into a prayer gesture.

He closed his eyes, meditated, and eventually became one with the world, one with the storm, hiding in plain sight. His intent disappeared as though he were a mere sky statue.

Five people appeared underneath him in due time.

Then, even a Heaven’s Warrior appeared- no, was always here, but didn’t fight, retreated nor called anyone.

A fallen Heaven’s Warrior? Was his thought.

But the more he heard their conversation, the more he understood that the Heaven’s Warrior wasn’t fallen, but still loyal, although corrupted by the good of the Divine Emperor of Death and his family.

This was the sender of the anonymous letter, Fairy Runalise.

For a Heaven’s Warrior, corrupt was the right word for those who refused to kill a Divergent on the spot.

Nonetheless, as the Heaven’s Warrior left and the Divine Emperor of Death began to start his strange plan, his expression inevitably cracked as he raised his hand and swiped down as he matched the other party’s tone.

“Die~”

*Bang!~*

It was over in an instant.

The Divine Emperor of Death exploded into bloody smithereens.

He slowly opened his eyes with an amused chuckle as he looked down, seeing the Divine Emperor of Death’s remains fall into the abyss while the other four retreated into two groups.

He looked toward one side as he caught a not-so-familiar figure, but vaguely recognized the aura.

“Azure Tree Realm Master?”

“…” Fairy Divinacia held her breath.

“It’s really you.” The Celestial Transcendent said with some surprise, “I take it that you really betrayed Heaven’s Warriors. If it’s not the case, let me know later.”

His tone was gentle and understanding before he turned to look at the other one, a black-purple-robed woman. Then he turned his gaze to the other side, noticing the green-robed man and the velvet-robed woman-pink haired woman.

His gaze flickered as he momentarily paused at the pink-haired woman, finding himself stuck in a trance.

“What powerful illusion…”

He chuckled and looked at them again briefly.

“One Anarchic Divergent and two Divergents. You all seem young but powerful. Have we ever met before? Are you three a part of the Heavenly Blight Hall or… Saintess Lunaria’s forces? You- you’re the Astral Night Demoness, aren’t you? So you were the one who saved him from Malzor Hexadra. Pretty powerful, I must say.”

“…”

Fairy Qiyra Darkstar nor the others opened their mouths.

They remained in their locations, not making a move.

*Whis~*

Then, a spark appeared in the place where Davis was blasted into smithereens.

The Celestial Transcendent turned his gaze back to that location, his light smile turning to amused stillness.

“You really don’t die, huh?”

He watched as a ghostly skeleton appeared, its visage quickly turning into the Divine Emperor of Death’s face as he rose from the wisp. Within seconds, he attained a ghostly wraith form, half-opaque, half-transparent as his lips curled with a malevolent smile and his eyes glowed with an otherworldly purple-black glint.

“Tsk, tsk, tsk…”

Davis clicked his tongue thrice, his eyes filled with unholy resentment, yet it was all suppressed by his own Will, his mind clear and self-aware.

“I really got slapped into oblivion. As expected of the Celestial Transcendent.”

“Young lad,” The Celestial Transcendent laughed happily, “It’s really good to see you in flesh after such a long time. But still, you don’t even die even after being hit with a prowess at the layer limit, and what’s more intriguing is the regeneration speed of your soul. I can sense your physical body regenerating within three… two…”

From the manifestation of the Ghostly Will, tendrils of crimson energy, darker than blood, tinged with black, emerged as they intertwined around the flesh and coalesced into a fleshly outgrowth.

The Divine Emperor of Death’s fleshly amalgamation was now more solid than ever before. It began to fully emerge, expanding outward. His form grew, muscle, veins, and bones knitting together as his chaotic aura reverberated. His flesh pulsed with a tremendous amount of martial empyrean energy.

Davis clenched his fist and released, causing a black-white stone to appear.

He glanced at the replica, thinking to himself, ‘Unbelievably amazing… I could form the Ghost Will anytime I want after my death, and it takes only six more seconds to reform my body in its full glory.’

Previously, it had taken him nine seconds to revive after dying to Autarch Elluro Coldwing. This time, it was faster, and he didn’t even have to bring out his Reincarnation Wheel to aid him. Clearly, his Everlasting Samsara Tribunal Physique had evolved after going through so many reincarnations and entering the Empyrean Grade.

He also realized that hiding the black-white stone and other soul items and aspects became much easier during his death.

It was no wonder Fallen Heaven still wasn’t caught. Its hiding game had always been impeccable, especially with his Will and soul at the forefront.

Now, he even had another treasure to hide them all.

The Celestial Transcendent also gazed at Davis in an intrigued manner, seemingly in no hurry.

“I see. It’s not your soul physique, but your Will that invigorates the revival of your soul through the soul physique, and your chaotic body retains all the flesh and energy that had left your body just now. And this stone- this replica… of the Tablet of Life and Death accelerates the process by many times, as though it is truly made for you. With it being at Peak Exalt Grade, it’s increasing your prowess as well. Haha, you think you could cross too many levels to fight me?”

“Fifty-fifty.” Davis formed his purple robe over himself and spread his hands as he shrugged.

Then he laughed, “You Heaven’s Warriors are all hard-working, throwing me a sixteen upper realm wide net. I can only imagine the financial loss I’m costing you all.”

“It’s nothing compared to the fear we induce in all Divergents just by trying to get rid of you.”

The Celestial Transcendent’s lips curled, “See your friends here? Even though they’re more powerful than you, they’re nearly frozen by my might. They couldn’t even respond to my attack, even as they saw it coming. They could’ve saved you, but they didn’t.”

“Tsk, tsk…” Davis shook his head, “Saving me was never a part of the plan.”

“…”

The Celestial Transcendent’s smile paused before it turned amused.

“Little monster, I don’t believe you came here with only fifty-fifty chances. Knowing you, you already planned it all out, if not most of it, including your escape route. Since you want to reverse the Desolate Era, I’m tempted to let you have your chance, but as the Celestial Transcendent and the Greater Realm’s ruler, my face won’t stand if I let a Desolate Divergent save the Upper Realms. We’ll go by the books, seal the Divergent, and save the day. What do you think?”

He flicked his sleeve and took out a crystal prism.

It was a small, fist-sized multifaceted crystal. Strange golden lightning arcs flashed endlessly within its interiors, illuminating innumerable spectral figures trapped inside.

Each imprisoned soul appeared to be suspended within a cocoon of golden-blue divine lightning.

“This is… the replica of the Heavenspark Lightning Jewel, Stormheart Incarnation Prism. I especially brought it for you since its divine lightning is known to stop all kinds of reincarnation, rebirth, and revival. In short, it electrifies truesouls into eternal torture and doesn’t let them enter the reincarnation cycle, much less allow them to regenerate, whether it is flesh or soul. As long as you enter it, I think the matter will be settled.”

“…!” Fairy Qiyra Darkstar and the others’ hearts sped rapidly.

Meanwhile, the Celestial Transcendent still sat on the same spot, his tone completely casual, even a bit challenging.

“Your chances- what do you think they are at now?”

“…” Davis heaved a pure breath of life energy and smiled as he showed his teeth gleefully, “Still want your son-in-law?”

“…”
