Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 2574 Cut

”Miss Strong Being, can you try to divine my future?”

Davisʼs voice was sincere and expectant, as though he really expected her to listen to him. However, it caused Mystic Diviner Hailacʼs eyes to narrow heavily.

”Emperor of Death, I donʼt seem to recall having offended you in any way.”

The people who were erudite about their knowledge of divination also scoffed at Davisʼs request.

Who was he kidding? Divining a Divergent was like committing suicide. No one would dare to do it unless they were many times powerful, and even then, they didnʼt dare do it unless they wanted to lose their future, whether it may be in terms of life or skill.

Davis shrugged in response, ”Well, you claimed to be stronger than my little aunt in divination, so naturally, you should at least be able to divine my immediate surrounding like my little aunt did just now, no?”

”...”

Mystic Diviner Hailacʼs eyes trembled. To divine the surroundings of a Divergent? The worst possibility would be losing her life, and the optimistic outcome would be to escape with her life intact but heavily injured.

She had divined a few days earlier and earlier today when the Emperor of Death wasnʼt here, so it didnʼt result in much backlash in her, but if she tried now, she knew that she would succeed but become horrendously injured.

Realizing this factor that she had overlooked, she turned to look at Tia, wondering what secrets she had to withstand such backlash as she refused to believe such a young Mystic Diviner with no specialty could possibly beat her.

Divining wasnʼt the same thing as battling. There were special things that allowed people to withstand the backlash better and see through the hidden veil of fate with more ease. If cultivation base was the foundation and laws were the base skill, then prowess was the special things around them that made it possible for them to leave unscathed after divination.

”Weʼll know whoʼs right soon enough...”

Mystic Diviner Hailac looked away, waiting for the predicted time to near them. No one said a word anymore as time began to pass.

One second... two seconds... ten seconds... thirty seconds... a minute and two...

Mystic Diviner Hailacʼs declaration of three minutes was nearing, and everyone couldnʼt help but watch the icy fog closely. However, three minutes passed. They narrowed their eyes, waiting for it to open any moment now, as every event could only be predicted vaguely.

A difference in a minute or two was nothing but in their two statements, there was a difference of five minutes, which was not much, but since they had made it a challenge, it was extremely different, which would determine their skill in divination.

Most of them believed Mystic Diviner Hailac, as she was rarely wrong. Not only was she a Mystic Diviner, but she was also a true disciple who could cross five levels above to battle. She was ranked in the three hundredsʼ, but she was more respected than any true disciple above the top thirty due to her divination skill.

She didnʼt earn many contribution points through missions, but the number of people who sent contribution points her way for divination numbered in the thousands. In short, she was wealthy as a tycoon in a city and had greater influence over many disciples, even Immortal King ones who could not afford to hire Immortal King Mystic Diviners!

The hundreds of disciples present here churned with their undulations as it began to cause a massive storm of undulations clashing with each other. The heaven and earth energy rumbled, and the icy terrain shattered like it was brittle. However, the disciples did not care about it, as whoever could rush past the others would more likely have a chance to obtain the treasure. If they were weak, they could quickly pass on the treasure to someone strong from their alliance or group, but there were also others who were intent on stealing it from others.

When outside, nothing was prohibited in the Aurora Cloud Gate except killing.

Lost your things outside to a fellow disciple who is in the same cultivation realm as you?

Then not our problem!

Donʼt take things you can not afford to lose outside!

Any kind of altercation over properties or things happening outside should be settled personally!

These were the explanations the Law Enforcement would give to disciples repeatedly, but they never seemed to fall on their ears, leaving them crying for a few days before they either gave up or sought revenge.

However, as the fourth minute passed, they became slightly taken aback and confused, some turning to look at Mystic Diviner Hailac. She still seemed to be composed as her empty eyes were lazily looking at the icy fog. It gave them more confidence as they surged with undulations.

”...”

But after the fifth minute, even Mystic Diviner Hailacʼs eyes couldnʼt help but frown deeply.

The others also stopped emitting their undulations as they turned to look at the white-veiled Mystic Diviner, who was called Tia. At this rate, she would be right if thirty more seconds passed.

Time was ticking in their heads, but for Tia and Mystic Diviner Hailac, it was much more pronounced as their hearts began to pound. Each beat was a second that passed to their advantage or disadvantage. Their lips were heavily pursed as they clenched their fists, wanting to be right.

However, the moment the fifth minute and thirty seconds passed and the icy fog displayed no signs of change, Mystic Diviner Hailacʼs expression became unsightly.

Amidst the silence, the sixth minute passed by, and thirty more seconds later, the icy fog finally started to twist and churn, appearing like it was going to disperse into thin air.

Quickly, many people burst with their undulations, this time more pronounced and powerful that some disciples were blown off from the pure pressure emanating from the true disciples.

Tia grinned like she never did before as she turned to look at Davis, her eyes wide in joy.

”Hahaha. My little aunt has proved herself worthy.”

”Yes!”

Receiving his praise, she instantly jolted as she stood and pumped her fist. She turned around and cupped her hands towards Mystic Diviner Hailac.

”I wonʼt say that I completely won since it is my prediction that should theoretically be more accurate since it was taken nearer to the time of the occurrence.”

”Naturally.”

Mystic Diviner Hailac raised her brows, not expecting Tia to not be so arrogant as it was a common trait among Mystic Diviners, even more so than flame and sword cultivators.

She shook her head, ”But you donʼt need to be so humble since you proved yourself. However, a battle of divination isnʼt like a battle of martial prowess. If our skill is the same, sometimes, you could be wrong, and at other times, I could be wrong, and many times, we could be both wrong.”

”I couldnʼt agree more, senior sister Hailac.” Tia giggled, ”Iʼm still a fledgling, so Iʼd like to take classes from you and learn a lot more about divination.”

”Very good.”

The purple-robed woman nodded her head in appreciation.𝚏reew𝑒𝗯𝒏ovel.c𝒐m

On the other hand, Davis was impressed by Tia suddenly becoming social and winning over Mystic Diviner Hailac by being humble and smooth in her words. He didnʼt think she had it in her, making him think he was too protective of her and had to let her grow outside for more improvement.

*Puchi!~*

Suddenly, a sharp light shot across space and rushed past Mystic Diviner Hailac, abruptly stopping in the distance.

Everyone couldnʼt help but turn to look at the thing that appeared in the distance. However, Davisʼs eyes remained on the people who were on that thingʼs way, his pupils wide enough to sense that he wasnʼt mistaken with the view reflected in his eyes.

”Ahhhh!!!”

Mystic Diviner Hailac screamed as blood spurted from her shoulder in copious amounts as she lost her arm while a trail of headless corpses stood in her path before falling to the ground.

Amidst the absolute confusion, Davis panned his gaze and looked at an icy-white-skinned, thirty-meter-tall, six-armed fiend.

That creature had a bunch of heads and Mystic Diviner Hailacʼs frail arm on its giant hand, throwing it into its mouth as it chomped on them all with its razor-sharp teeth with grating and cracking sounds which sent chills up the spine of many people, including magical beasts as they felt fear take root in their hearts.

”Unfettered Gargantuan Ice Fiend...!”

The disciples screamed in terror before they quickly tried to gain distance in a mass panic.
