Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 2570 Into The Sinkhole

Davis and his group flew past the Earth Dragon Clanʼs people, heading deeper into the sinkhole.

They could see some tunnels that had been carved upon them while many auras could be felt entering those tunnels. However, he didnʼt take those tunnels but continued heading deeper into the sinkhole to see where it ended.

However, as they crossed the thousand-meter mark, the freezing atmosphere turned vicious and searing, making them feel like they were going to burn to death instead.

”This is the Mercurial Blitz Ice Valleyʼs specialty. The gases fuming here are cold but cause burns and slow down movement as though trapped in a burning quagmire. You feel constricted and would eventually die of the toxic icy fumes entering your body even if you werenʼt wounded, but now that the impure Ice Essence Orb was mixed, it became somewhat breathable but still dangerous as the intensity of the attacks became higher.”

Ellia explained, causing everyone else to nod.

They no longer tried to head deeper but chose to enter one of the many tunnels that were present. They didnʼt take a pre-opened tunnel but a closed one, wondering if they would luckily chance upon a treasure.

The tunnel path was ten meters wide in diameter, but it was still small according to their standards.

Suddenly, Davis stopped moving and looked above.

”Die!”

A black-robed silhouette abruptly appeared in the air as he plunged toward Davis. At the same time, a formation lit up below Davis, trying to seal his cultivation. It caused his eyes to narrow as he instantly sensed that it was a powerful Immortal King Grade Sealing Formation.

*Kaching!~*

The formation disc below Davis instantly shattered upon activation from the pressure of the environment.

However, it managed to shake his energy circulation, leaving him vulnerable for that minute moment.

*Puchi!~*

The black-robed figure landed on the surface, standing up as he grinned, looking like he could die freely now as he opened his mask. Every ounce of his strength was used to assassinate the Emperor of Death, and he had no doubt that the other party was undoubtedly dead, looking euphoric, but at this moment, his expression changed as he saw his sword be severed in half.

His upper body slid off diagonally from his lower body, leaving him falling down to the cold ground with a thud.

”What...?” His lips shuddered in confusion and fear.

However, blood didnʼt drip from his severed body. Instead, the severed area seemed to be covered in frost. It gave off an icy air and further spread to his body, instantly covering him in frost.

He was sealed as his expression turned horrified.

Davis looked down at his severed, ice-glazed body condescendingly before turning to look at Tanya, who held an icy sword with a golden hilt in her hand. The way she clutched it screamed masterful that he could see how much she trained after obtaining the Emperor Sword Arts.

He hadnʼt done anything except one thing. He had sidestepped very minutely, so the assassin felt like he had severed his head, but in truth, the impact was from Tanyaʼs sword. Not only did it sever his blade, but it also split his body into two, further entrenching in him extreme ice and sealing his life inside.

She was so fast in her attacking form that even the ones behind her didnʼt see how she moved!

Only Natalya managed to see, but she had done her own thing, having her defenses up as she protected Ellia, Tia, and the others with a lotus barrier.

Seeing them instantly make a move to protect him and the others, Davis was moved. Even though they knew he could handle it, one of them moved to save him while the other was alert enough to protect the others from another assassination attempt.

This action touched him, making him feel he was right to bring them here.

He knew that due to the Yin Essence Orb and Ice Essence Orb and their spirits, they greatly benefited from cultivating together with their contracted spirits, Iesha and Pia, who could absorb these orbs efficiently and increase their cultivations drastically.

Indeed, the Ice Essence Orb and Yin Essence Orb were gone, having shattered after they were absorbed in a few monthsʼ time, but in return, the cultivations of Natalya and Tanya had reached Level Five Immortal Stage!

As for Iesha and Pia, they were already at Level Eight Immortal Stage!

Such was the boon of having an essence orb as a cultivation resource for a spirit. It was practically a heavenly treasure that they would die to obtain as they could absorb it easily and strengthen themselves in a very short period of time.

It must be reiterated that for humans to advance their cultivation base in the Immortal Stage would take years upon years with just immortal crystals.

This process could be hastened by using energy absorption formations, but it could never achieve a rate closer to a magical beastʼs natural inclination to quickly advance using immortal crystals, and then again, the magical beasts could never match a spiritʼs natural inclination to quickly absorb the source of an elemental resource, whether if it even be another Spirit Attribute Source.

This kind of dynamic made it so that although spirits were always lower in numbers compared to the other two major races, they were always capable of quickly becoming stronger as long as they found a suitable source. Even cannibalism would enrich their cultivations, but most tribes forbid such things as it would result in their numbers decreasing, which is not a good thing overall for any species or sub-species of a race.

Nonetheless, with the help of the Prismatic Intramural Soul-Spirit Pact, Natalya and Tanya had immense gains to their Immortal Vessels from cultivating together with Iesha and Pia.

It must be known that for humans, the Essence Gathering Cultivation and Body Tempering Cultivation were interconnected by the Immortal Vessel. Therefore, when the cultivation base rises as the Immortal Vessel improves and expands, both Essence Gathering Cultivation and Body Tempering Cultivation simultaneously rise.

It was only the Soul Forging Cultivation that was tied to the Immortal Soul Vessel rose separately.

Therefore, their Soul Forging Cultivations were still at Level One Immortal Stage. They werenʼt tri-cultivators who could increase their prowess by one level using all three energies at the same time anymore.

However, with the Prismatic Intramural Soul-Spirit Pact, they had no need for such a thing as they could rely on their spirits to increase their prowess. With that, it could be said that their ultimate combined prowess was six levels higher, almost reaching the Immortal King Stage!

That assassin who had powerful prowess, probably having reached the very peak of the Immortal Stage, only a minute strand away from the Immortal King Stage, had his sword broken and almost killed in one move by Tanya!

Turning around, Davis put that near-dead assassin into his life ring and flew towards Tanya before he reached out his hand and held her face, feeling her warmth through the touch as he looked into her sapphire eyes.

”Tanya, I havenʼt been taking care of you, have I?”

His voice was laden with gentleness, causing Tanyaʼs eyelids to quiver as she blushed.

”Donʼt be like that...”

She grabbed his hand on her face and appeared to relish it as she closed her eyes.

”I do wish for your touch but not in these times where growing together is more important than caring about each one of us individually. I donʼt have any doubt that you will take care of me now and even in the future. In fact, I made it a point to pester you only after I reach a prowess that is at least half of your maximum prowess. Only then would I have the right to pester you to marry me...”

”Haha.” Davis couldnʼt help but chuckle, ”Iʼm glad youʼre in your own world again, Tanya. Youʼre setting rules for yourself that no woman would bother to set.”

”Go away...” Tanya opened her eyes shyly and bit her lips as she lowered he head, ”I have my own thoughts about how to... seduce you...”

Davis appeared taken aback, blinking as a lewd smile emerged on his face.

”Gosh, youʼve been tainted by your best friend, havenʼt you?”

Tanya blushed a little as she looked away adorably.

Last time, she was indecisive about her feelings, and Davis made her understand, making her feel happiness bloom when he held her. This time, she was full of conviction, wanting to feel like she deserved him even the tiniest bit amongst these fellow sisters who were too powerful to even have a similar status as them.

But on the other hand, Natalya remained carefree as she shrugged.

”Donʼt blame me. If you can keep us to yourself, we have the right to seduce you any time we want~”

She self-righteously answered with her melodious and seductive voice, causing Davis to chuckle.

”Fair enough...”

He looked at Natalya with lewd eyes as she returned the same intensity to him, winking at him, which set his heart ablaze in this cold atmosphere. Nonetheless, he hissed as he sucked in a breath of cold air and gestured as he turned around.

”There was a slight disturbance, but letʼs continue.”

Natalya and the others nodded as they continued to follow him.

As for the three people of the Reaper Soul Legion, they wondered why they were here as they didnʼt react in time to the assassination attempt, feeling more than embarrassed. Even if they couldnʼt kill the assassin, they should put their bodies up against the deadly attack to exchange for their Legion Masterʼs life!

Such was their duty and responsibility.
