Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 2564 A Solemn Case

Davisʼs lips slightly parted as he was starting to see the big picture.

It seemed like Aurora Cloud Gate also realized the danger of the situation but kept quiet about it. More than that, he would be naive to think that they couldnʼt find what Tia could find. There were millions of disciples from various schools, studying and practicing different Laws, so for them not to have Mystic Diviners would be unthinkable.

Nevertheless, they didnʼt make this information public. Instead, they issued missions to their disciples to deal with it.

Considering this optimistic view, he wondered if they were positive about being easily able to get out of this disaster.

”So, whatʼs the reward for that mission?”

”Well, if you find the source, you will be rewarded with a million contribution points, and if you manage to mitigate the source, the reward will be as many times as bigger as the difficulty, but itʼs at least ten times higher.”

”...”

Instead of being excited, Davisʼs expression sank. He got a bad feeling about this as he continued to ask.

”Is that a high enough reward for an immortal true disciple?”

”Too high.” Myriaʼs voice became amused, ”Whatʼs a million contribution points? Ten thousand contribution points are worth one High-Level Immortal Crystal, so thatʼs a hundred High-Level Immortal Crystals. The highest mission reward Iʼve ever seen was four hundred thousand contribution points, but that required you to kill down a Mid Immortal King Savage Beast thatʼs in a sealed space which, again, only immortals are able to go through.”

”...”

Davis smiled deeply.

They were fucked!

Ten million contribution points to destroy the source in the Mercurial Blitz Ice Valley? Clearly, the danger was extreme! Otherwise, there was not even a minute amount of chance that the reward was so high, and it was termed ʼat leastʼ because the reward might increase depending on the danger of the source.

”The high reward makes it all the more worth my time. Obviously, if itʼs a random extinction event on this level versus my destiny, Iʼm going to win.”

”Tsk, tsk.” Davisʼs smile became smug, ”You say that while you have me, the great Emperor of Death who surpassed you?”

”Your infamy produces a cost.” Myria still sounded amused, ”Good luck getting past the blockade formed by other true disciples who donʼt want to get you the reward or the Fire Phoenix Clan and Earth Dragon Clan trying to kill you there.”

”Eh...”

”While youʼre having trouble, Iʼll smoothly swipe the mission rewards. Iʼve already gotten eighteen marriage proposals and twenty-four alliance invites in the time I run a few missions. No oneʼs going to block me, so donʼt hate me. Just saying...”

Davis raised his hands, ”They are all trying to fuck you. Just saying...”

”...” Myriaʼs brows fell as she became speechless, ”So crass. At least... tell me theyʼre trying to court me, only to fail. But on that note, are you any different, Emperor of Death who has a harem?”

Hearing Myria becomes inquisitive, Davisʼs brows twitched ever so lightly. He lightly paused, staring at her veiled face and her eyes as though trying to see through her thoughts before opening his mouth.

”Of course. I wonʼt claim to be completely indifferent, but as long as you are Elliaʼs mother or elder sister, whichever it is you want to claim, I will still protect you. Iʼm too grateful to you to abandon or backstab you.”

”...”

”...”

Hearing Davisʼs sincere tone, Myria was at a loss, while on the other hand, Davis knew he had screwed up. He made his intentions known more or less, not that he thought he could hide it in front of her, as he vaguely had a feeling that she could sense his intentions.

Otherwise, she wouldnʼt have asked it.

Myria didnʼt take her eyes off him. His words resounded in her mind for a few moments before she finally shook her head.

”Youʼve become more daring since you surpassed me, but I guess thatʼs common for any man out there in the world. However, Iʼm not a woman you need. I wonʼt swoon over you, nor am I Ellia to be readily accepting of your women, willing to call them sisters. Donʼt waste your time on me. Weʼre more suited to working with each other than be companions.”

”Wait a minute...” Davis smiled as he shook his head, ”I didnʼt confess or done anything yet.”

Myria nodded her head, ”Then take it as nothing more than my precautionary words. I would hate to lose an ally like you, especially when I know that thereʼs little chance youʼll harm me, not because of the benefits we share but because of Ellia. If you harmed me, sheʼd hate you, and you are not a man I know who will do something so foolish as to make your women hate you.”

”You know me, alright.” Davis rubbed the bridge of his nose, ”Iʼll take it as a compliment.”

He couldnʼt believe that she talked to him like a gentle senior sister advising her junior brother. Somehow, this gesture couldnʼt help but make him look at Myria more favorably. She was opening up to him in one way that heʼd like to think of as a start.

However, it was because he knew that she wouldnʼt accept other women easily did he dare not make a move on her either. No matter how he looked favorably upon her, courting her was a disruptive action for his harem, one that he wouldnʼt take easily without conviction.

”Alright, I came to give you back the contribution points, but you werenʼt here with your status plate, so Iʼll give it later as Iʼm going to use it for myself now. Donʼt blame me for hogging these resources, okay?”

”Suit yourself.” Myria lightly spread her hands as she shrugged, ”Iʼll earn contribution points in my current mission, eventually coming to have more than you. Actually, I already found clues about the source. It wouldnʼt be long before I made a million contribution points.”

”Damn! I better hurry up!”

Davis turned around and shot towards the exit, returning to his residence.

On the other side, as Myria saw him leave, her lips behind her veil couldnʼt help but part into a wry smile.

”That little fellow wants an ancient and aloof woman like me? Either something must be wrong with him, or I must be dreaming...”

Clenching the robeʼs hem above her bosoms in her hand, she smilingly shook her head and turned around, returning inside.
