I Became The Chief Of A Primitive Village

Chapter 948, The Most Suitable Candidate

Yan Jiao stared fixedly at the small notebook, repeatedly examining it numerous times.

This was his first encounter with such white paper, such excellent-textured paper. Comparison with previous materials was impossible.

Wolf Tail Grass Paper had already seemed good. No, it could be described as the finest available.

However, observing this snow-white paper now left him somewhat stunned. Apparently, this represented true quality.

“Shaman, I believe this is the best paper,” Yan Jiao spoke his honest assessment.

“Ha ha ha…” Su Bai shook his head without hesitation and stated, “This isn’t the finest yet. Even better exists.”

Naturally so. On Earth, papers superior to this notebook existed abundantly. Various types available.

Specialised papers existed for watercolours, sketching, oil painting, plus calligraphy, landscape painting, and so forth. In summary, various papers served different functions. Some offered superior colour retention, others strong water absorption.

“Even better paper exists? Are the plants you’re having me locate intended for producing this superior paper, Shaman?” Yan Jiao asked excitedly.

His curiosity was instantly piqued, wanting to observe what paper superior to this brilliantly white paper resembled.

“Something like that. That’s why the workshop must conduct numerous trials. Don’t worry about Wolf Tail Grass Paper production decreasing.” Su Bai instructed.

“Understood. I’ll have people prepare various plants for delivery within days. No. This can be resolved today,” Yan Jiao stated immediately.

Just like previously searching for plants suitable for producing Ramie. Those Warriors were extraordinarily invested.

“This is not that urgent. This matter must progress without stirring too much fuss. Make sure there is no commotion about this. I don’t want too many people to even know about this,” Su Bai cautioned.

“Yes. Does the Shaman have any other instructions?” Yan Jiao nodded lightly.

Su Bai blinked his dark eyes and enquired, “Do you know of any plants or fruits with vibrant colours that don’t easily fade?”

He was currently contemplating the currency colouring problem. Those currency notes absolutely required vibrant colours. Only thus would they stand out.

“Vibrant colours that don’t fade easily? Let me think…” Yan Jiao frowned continuously in thought. After considerable time, he finally raised his head. “Shaman, nothing like that seems to exist. But, vibrantly coloured items are quite numerous.”

Having remained in the Tribe this long, he genuinely knew of nothing possessing both advantages simultaneously.

“I understand. No further matters for now. Return to your duties,” Su Bai stated flatly, already aware matters wouldn’t prove so simple.

Moreover, even if such plants genuinely existed, subsequent thorough experimentation would still be required. Non-fading colours were insufficient: merely one advantage. Currency absolutely required complete colour permanence for optimal results. Therefore, fade resistance was just the preliminary condition.

“Very well.” Yan Jiao set down the notebook and departed.

Yu Ying collected the tea the attending maid had poured for the Chieftain, then asked curiously, “Shaman, what purpose do these two items serve?”

Yu Ying had remained obediently standing nearby, hearing the entire conversation.

“To create something entirely new, replacing our current labour value system and bartering system.” Su Bai did not conceal anything.

“Replace labour values? That sounds quite challenging,” Yu Ying tapped her cherry-small lips lightly.

Su Bai gently flicked her small pink lips and said gently, “I guarantee once this item is developed, everyone will accept it with ease.”

He possessed this confidence. The advantages of a currency were self-evident. Particularly if produced exquisitely, many people would accept it.

Initially, it would only be promoted within the Tribe, then gradually extended outward.

“Shaman, what is this item? Is it another type of value?” Yu Ying tilted her head and asked.

“This item is called currency. It is a form of money, completely different from any type of traded goods.” Su Bai explained.

He took a sip of tea and continued, “This is something everyone can see and touch. In my homeland, we call this the currency system.”

“Currency? Something visible and tangible? It sounds quite impressive,” Yu Ying’s pink eyes filled with anticipation.

“But, materials used to make them are currently unavailable. Therefore, implementation of currency will be delayed somewhat.” Su Bai said helplessly.

Yu Ying immediately appeared somewhat disappointed, asking sadly, “Shaman, is there anything I can help with? I can help prepare materials.”

Yu Ying possessed intense interest in Su Bai’s mentioned currency, primarily because this item had been described so remarkably.

Yu Ying’s impression of the Shaman was that he was exceptionally capable. Many items he produced immediately astonished people. Naturally, she anticipated this wonderful creation.

“No need. Perhaps you’ll be needed later. I’ll definitely request your assistance then,” Su Bai understood her feelings.

“Very well.” Yu Ying’s pink fox tail drooped downward.

“But, Co Co should be able to assist me with this.” Su Bai instantly recalled the golden haired young woman.

When contemplating currency production, he had identified the suitable candidate, which was Co Co.

Co Co absolutely adored conducting experiments, having reached levels of obsession. For researching the currency colouring problems, she was the optimal choice.

“That’s right! But, what assistance does the Shaman require from Co Co?” Yu Ying was somewhat stunned, nearly forgetting that familiar name.

“I need her to conduct some experiments. These experiments determine whether currency can be smoothly produced.” Su Bai smiled faintly.

“But, Co Co is still currently at the Sea Fish Tribe.” Yu Ying said with concern.

Su Bai contemplated briefly, then said softly, “Then have her come to the Flame Dragon Tribe. You all truly haven’t seen each other for so long.”

“Really? Will Co Co actually come back?” Yu Ying could scarcely believe it. However, she immediately asked with concern, “But Shaman, what about the Sea Fish Tribe? Doesn’t Co Co still need to lead them?”

“The Sea Fish Tribe has been stable for some time now. We’ve also dispatched people to assist in its management. I believe matters are mostly settled there,” Su Bai stated.

He slowly set down his teacup and continued, “Having Co Co depart at this juncture shouldn’t prove to be too much of a problem.”

“That’s true. Many people are assisting. Co Co definitely can some spare time.” Yu Ying became instantly exceptionally happy. “I’ll prepare some sweets for her then. She’ll definitely enjoy it.”

“She definitely will,” Su Bai observed her indulgently.

Subsequently, he summoned Ye Jiu and provided her with the freshly written summons note.

This would be tied to a carrier pigeon’s claw, conveying the message to the Sea Fish Tribe.
