I Became The Chief Of A Primitive Village

Chapter 912, This Is Truly a Major Project

Su Bai stretched his waist and sat back in his position. There were still many matters to handle today.

“Shaman, we won’t get exposed, right?” Yan Hua was still slightly worried.

After all, having the entire Tribe cooperate to deceive two people? This naturally had a high chance of making mistakes. After all, not all people from the Tribe had been informed about this matter. If those two intelligence agents contacted these people, the secret would immediately be exposed.

“Rest assured, the Tribe’s people know what to do.” Su Bai said lightly.

He had already arranged some people beforehand. Those people were all arranged by the Special Forces Department. In short, it was arranged by Sha Hong.

“I’m still a little worried whether they can do it well.” Yan Hua sighed.

Because this matter had been arranged rather hastily.

Although the Tribe had already arranged many people to deal with those two intelligence agents, ultimately ‘Humans calculate while Heaven determines’.

Sometimes variables were too large to be accounted for. This was where Yan Hua was worried about.

“You must have faith in Sha Hong. She’ll definitely arrange the right people for this.”

Su Bai accepted the tea Yu Ying brought over, smiling, “Moreover, there will be dedicated people guiding those two intelligence agents. It’s impossible to let them contact people not arranged beforehand.”

“You’re right. I was too worried.” Yan Hua picked up small dried fish to eat again and asked, “Shaman, what work do we have today?”

“The rainy season will arrive soon, so we need to quickly prepare for it.”

Su Bai flexed his fingers, drank some tea and said, “Also, we must consider how to handle those rainy days.”

“Shaman’s meaning is wanting to be able to work even on rainy days, correct?” Yan Hua asked curiously.

“Correct. The Flame Dragon Tribe cannot be delayed by the rainy season. We must also accomplish things during the rainy season.” Su Bai said lightly.

He had actually been considering this problem for a long time. Although some improvements had been made during last year’s rainy season –

However, at that time, he only had everyone do some handicrafts and allowed them to move around. It had not solved the real problem at the industrial scale.

Su Bai did not want his farming plans continually shelved because of the rainy season.

If things continued this way, the rainy season would delay a whole season, then the snow season would also delay things further.

How long was a year anyway? Being delayed several months by the rainy season and snow season was too much. What farming plans could be discussed with these two seasons ruining everything?

“Shaman, what should we do during the rainy season then?” Yan Hua was particularly curious.

“But, when the rainy season arrives, we’ll have no way to plant crops. This also wastes time.” Sha Lan said regretfully.

She also felt that when the rainy season arrived, it truly wasted too much time. But this was something that could not be so easily resolved.

Because the rainy season had existed since her birth. This was a natural phenomenon, with fundamentally no way to improve it.

“I’ve thought of a good method that might be able to change this situation.” Su Bai felt a little proud.

“Really? Does the Shaman have a good method?” Yan Hua’s red eyes widened in surprise.

“En. The rainy season’s greatest characteristic is continuous rain, moreover causing rainwater to continuously accumulate without draining.”

Su Bai swayed the quill pen in his hand and continued, “As long as we solve these two problems, the rest won’t be major issues.”

“Shaman, we have no way to prevent rainwater from falling, and rainwater accumulation is also unavoidable.”

Sha Lan’s expression showed difficulty, continuing, “We surely can’t build cement houses to protect the crops? This would waste too much time, moreover some of our people still haven’t moved into cement houses yet.”

“Ah Lan is correct. Shaman, this should be something that can’t be resolved, shouldn’t it?” Yan Hua also felt particularly regretful. If not for the rainy season and snow season reasons, the Flame Dragon Tribe would probably develop even further. So being unable to resolve these problems naturally felt regrettable.

“This isn’t anything difficult. I’ve carefully considered it. We can construct some rain shelters and implement some drainage.” Su Bai quickly sketched simple patterns on Wolf Tail Grass Paper, continuing, “Roughly like this. As long as the drainage is done well, the rainy season won’t be of any difficulty for us.”

“Shaman, this is truly a major project. Can we complete it before the rainy season arrives?”

Yan Hua leaned over to glance at the blueprints and continued asking, “What are those strange striped things on the ground?”

Yan Hua kept squinting at those blueprints, almost pressing her face against them.

“Shaman, if I’m not mistaken, these things on the ground should be small channels, right? For letting rainwater flow out through these small channels, correct?” Sha Lan guessed.  “Then these are wooden shelters for the farmland.”

Su Bai blinked his black eyes and continued, “Correct, these small channels are drainage channels. They’re for when rainwater falls to the ground. They will allow the rainwater to flow away smoothly, never accumulating in the fields.”

“I see. From this perspective, it truly is an excellent method. But, Shaman, where should we construct the wooden shelters?”

Yan Hua turned the blueprints back and forth several times, continually examining the patterns on them carefully.

What she was best at was combat. She was still completely ignorant about these matters.

“Construct them directly on that farmland in the forest. This way we won’t need to leave that farmland for an entire rainy season.” Su Bai’s lips curved up slightly, continuing, “That area is extremely spacious. The crops planted will be enough for our Tribe to eat throughout an entire rainy season.”

“Shaman, actually our Tribe has stored many things. Not planting during the rainy season would be fine.” Sha Lan suggested.

“That’s different. Those stored foods are all for the common people to eat.” Su Bai slowly drank some tea and continued, “The fresh crops planted in the farmland are what we should eat.”

He felt that what one ate must be fresh. Those crops stored in the cellar should be left for others to eat.

“So, this is what the Shaman is considering.” Yan Hua couldn’t help covering her mouth and laughing, asking puzzledly, “Shaman, how should we construct them though?”

She was still worried about the wooden shelter problem. Because relying on manual construction, such a large wooden shelter definitely could not be completed in time.
