The Fierce Farm Girl Has A Secret Space

Chapter 1383: Chapter 1383: Feilai Peak (1)

Yang Ruxin and the others had already reached the foot of Lingyin Temple’s mountain gate by this time, and indeed, facing them was Feilai Peak, with its red carved characters standing out prominently.

”Indeed, it is Feilai Peak.” Yu Qingge was the most excited, pointing at the red characters engraved above and jumping up, ”There are inscriptions, too.”

Yang Ruxin tugged at her: ”Mind your ladylike image.”

Yu Qingge then stopped, but whispered in a lower voice: ”Ruxin sister, do you think Monk Daoji is here?”

Yang Ruxin shook her head; although there was Feilai Peak, it didn’t necessarily mean Monk Daoji was present—after all, this era was a branch in history.

”Actually, I came to Hangzhou City with my father two years ago. He said that Feilai Peak is related to an enlightened living Buddha from the previous dynasty.” Du Juan glanced at everyone, ”It’s a very interesting legend.”

”Was that living Buddha called Daoji?” Yu Qingge’s eyes lit up.

Du Juan glanced at her, then shook her head: ”No, he’s called Monk Daoji, some also call him the Crazy Monk...”

”Wow, Daoji is Monk Daoji!” Yu Qingge laughed, ”Go on, tell us how this came to be.” She was eager to know if this legend was the same as the one she was familiar with.

”I once heard a local villager tell the tale; Monk Daoji, since his youth, was crazy but possessed magic and often helped the impoverished people. Despite being a monk, he did not abstain from meat and alcohol...” Du Juan frowned slightly, trying to recall, ”Sometimes his craziness would lead him to play tricks on people... It’s said that one day, he foresaw a mountain flying in from the sky and landing here. But back then, this place was a village with many villagers. He ran to tell the villagers to run away quickly, but the villagers thought he was just playing around as usual, and no one believed him. When Monk Daoji had no other option, at that moment, a family in the village was receiving a bride, and right after the bridal sedan chair was put down, he suddenly rushed over, snatched the bride, and ran off with her on his back...” As she talked, she chuckled, ”The villagers thought this was outrageous—how could a monk snatch a bride? They shouted and chased after him with the whole village in tow. It is said that they had not gone far when they heard a loud boom...”

”What happened?” Yang Miao’s originally slender eyes widened.

”A large piece of rock fell from the sky and smashed the village underneath...” Du Juan smiled, ”Only then did the villagers realize that Monk Daoji’s kidnapping of the bride was actually to save their lives, so they were all very grateful to him. Later, Lingyin Temple even built Daoji Hall, to commemorate Monk Daoji.”

Everyone suddenly understood.

Yu Qingge winked at Yang Ruxin; the story was just like the one in later generations.

”Du Juan sister, you know so much.” Yang Miao was very envious; she didn’t know anything.

”I also traveled everywhere with my father back then... I’ve seen a lot...” Du Juan glanced at Yang Ruxin, then lowered her eyes slightly.

”Let’s go, let’s hurry up there, there are quite a few people today.” Yang Ruxin scanned the surroundings, then called everyone to ascend the mountain, because she saw from a distance that the Dong Family’s carriage was also catching up, ”After we offer incense and finish the ritual, we’ll come down to look around, it seems quite lively here.”

The group didn’t linger and together, they walked up the mountain. As Lingyin Mountain wasn’t very high, the climb to Lingyin Temple was easy and in the blink of an eye, they arrived at the temple’s entrance.

A few Little Monks were waiting at the entrance.
