The Fierce Farm Girl Has A Secret Space

Chapter 1033: Chapter 1033: Proposal (40)

”Maybe it’s not as bad as we think,” Yang Ruxin said with a smile, ”Maybe there’s nothing to worry about.” But her heart was a bit thumpy, she knew that if Gu Qingheng didn’t want to be manipulated by the main Gu Family, he needed to be stronger than them, and that meant as soon as war broke out, he would have to rush to the front lines.

Somehow, worry began to seep into Yang Ruxin’s heart, and she didn’t like the thought of war...

”I’m probably just worrying over nothing, perhaps everything will be fine.” Gu Qingheng swiftly reached out and took Yang Ruxin’s hand, ”Don’t worry... Today is New Year’s Eve, we should really enjoy ourselves...”

Yang Ruxin nodded with a smile, and then both of them deliberately ignored the earlier conversation and started to get busy with everyone else.

Yet, a shadow loomed over Yang Ruxin’s heart; whether or not there would be a war, she might need to start preparing for him in advance.

Eating dumplings was a must for the New Year’s celebration, and this was Yang Ruxin’s first year here, so she indulged in using all white flour and let everyone eat their fill.

With many hands making light work, two large basins of meat filling and a bag of white flour quickly turned into more than six hundred plump, Ingot-like dumplings, which also included tofu, peanuts, jujubes, and copper coins, all for seeking good fortune.

Before dinner, fireworks were set off, and Xiaofeng represented everyone in offering another bow to the ancestors, then it was time for the New Year’s Eve dinner.

With the large crowd, they split into three tables, not distinguishing between masters and servants, all gathering together to eat and enjoy the dumplings.

Whenever someone bit into a dumpling and found a special filling, a cheer went up, and to eat more of what they hoped for, everyone stuffed their bellies until they were round and full.

After the evening meal, it was time to stay up late to see the new year in. With no other entertainment, Yu Qingge made playing cards and handed them out for everyone to play the game of Emperor... the simple and fun game was immediately embraced by everyone, as they all gathered in groups to play, even losing track of time.

As soon as the hour of 11:00 PM to 1:00 AM passed, everyone began to exchange New Year’s greetings, and Yang Ruxin had prepared red envelope gifts for everyone, for the younger brothers and sisters, for the servants of the seagull, and even for two-year-old Little Yezi; everyone was very happy.

Xun Hui and the Feng Family had also prepared them, so everyone went to sleep that night with a pile of money.

Only, the snow outside was falling heavier and heavier.

Gu Qingheng’s worry between his brows could no longer be concealed.

Yang Ruxin went over and patted Gu Qingheng’s shoulder: ”Stop thinking about it, overthinking won’t help.”

”There are some things that do need to be thought about.” Gu Qingheng suddenly laughed, pulled Yang Ruxin into his arms, and took out a box, ”Xinxin, Happy New Year.”

Yang Ruxin looked at him curiously, took the box, and opened it. Inside was a somewhat antique-looking Jade Hairpin with a red gemstone embedded at the top: ”What is this...?”

”This belonged to my mother, and it was my great-great-grandmother’s before her. Unfortunately, my mother didn’t have a daughter, so it can only be passed on to a daughter-in-law now...” Gu Qingheng looked at Yang Ruxin, ”Will you marry me?”

”Didn’t we agree on one year?” Yang Ruxin raised her eyebrows slightly.

”Isn’t it a year now?” Gu Qingheng nodded earnestly, ”The year has just passed; we have spanned two years already...”

”Is that how you count it?” Yang Ruxin couldn’t help but laugh.

”Definitely,” Gu Qingheng nodded, ”So, you should fulfill your promise now...”

”You’re twisting logic to win the argument,” Yang Ruxin rolled her eyes at him, ”And besides, who proposes in the middle of the night?”
