The Feng Shui Treasure Appraiser

203: Chapter 203 Success and Failure Both Stem from Feng ShuiWang Zhiwei and Xu Jingyun rushed in through the door. Before they could even close it, they shouted, ”Brother, something’s happened to Old Xu.”

Xu Jingyun nodded anxiously. ”I can’t get in touch with my dad. I haven’t been able to reach him since last night.”

Han Jingyang pointed at the sofa. ”Sit down and tell me slowly. Make everything clear; worrying won’t help.”

The two of them sat down.

Wang Zhiwei sighed. ”Old Xu still went to Xiaohe Village. No matter how I tried to persuade him, it was useless. He said he would just go take a look and come right back, even if it was just to show his goodwill.”

Han Jingyang raised an eyebrow. ”Didn’t you tell him what happened in Xiaohe Village?”

”I did, but Old Xu didn’t quite believe it. Well, I suspect he just couldn’t bear to lose face and was being stubborn. He said he wanted to ask for clarification in person. As a result, he went yesterday afternoon and hasn’t returned yet.”

”Did you call the police?”

”No, calling the police isn’t as useful as you, brother. When Jingyun found me, I brought her straight here to find you. You see...”

Han Jingyang sighed. ”This Old Xu is too stubborn.”

Wang Zhiwei nodded. ”That’s just his personality. He’s good in every way, except sometimes when he sets his mind on something, eight rhinos couldn’t pull him back. He’s deathly stubborn. If I were him and heard what the three Liu brothers did, I’d either cut ties immediately or kill those three bastards to rid the people of a scourge. But Old Xu insisted on speaking to them face-to-face, saying that even if they cut ties, it had to be done in person because of their ten-plus years of friendship.”

Han Jingyang didn’t know whether to say that was good or bad.

The three of them had discussed this before, but Xu Xin’s personality was just like that. It had its good points, but it definitely had its downsides too.

However, as a friend, one would actually prefer to be friends with someone like Xu Xin. He wasn’t two-faced, didn’t sow discord, said whatever was on his mind to your face, and even cutting ties was done openly.

To have one or two such good friends in a lifetime was very much worth it.

Forget it, better find a way to figure out what exactly happened.

And then find him quickly.

Assuming he’s still alive.

If he was already dead, then he could only help Xu Xin seek revenge and take care of his wife and daughter.

Cough, cough.

The proper kind of taking care of them.

After all, he wasn’t Cao Cao.

Han Jingyang nodded to the distressed Xu Jingyun. ”What time did your dad leave?”

”Around this time, after five o’clock.”

”And he hasn’t contacted you at all since then?”

”No, he hasn’t been online on any of his usual apps. I didn’t realize the seriousness of the situation this morning, but this afternoon I couldn’t reach him by phone or message no matter what I tried. That’s when I told Uncle Wang about it.”

”Did he say anything to you before he left?”

”He said he’d be right back. He also said that if he didn’t return within a day, I should find Uncle Wang and you, Big Brother Han. He also said...”

”What else did he say?”

”He also said that i-if anything happened to him, I shouldn’t seek revenge. He wanted me to stay with my mom and live my life as an ordinary person.”

Those words...

Han Jingyang and Wang Zhiwei exchanged a look.

The fact that Xu Xin could say such a thing meant he already had a bad premonition before going.

And yet he still went.

Truly a stubborn man.

Han Jingyang sighed and said to Wang Zhiwei, ”Old Wang, you go back. You can’t get involved in this. Jingyun will come with us. Her skills are decent enough for self-defense, and she might be able to help.”

Wang Zhiwei nodded. ”Are you going now?”

”Yes, the sooner the better.”

”Call me if anything happens.”

Wang Zhiwei left.

Han Jingyang gathered his equipment and led the three young women straight to Xiaohe Village.

This was his fourth time coming to Xiaohe Village.

The first time, he followed Wang Zhiwei and Xu Xin to find a grave for Liu Qing’s mother.

The second time, he brought Liu Jing in the middle of the night to perform a Dragon Slaying in front of everyone.

The third time, he came with Shen Yuhai and the others to rescue three kidnapped young girls.

This time, there was only one goal: rescue.

To rescue Xu Xin.

Was Xu Xin dead?

Probably not.

If Xu Xin were dead, there should be some feedback in the fortune of his biological daughter, Xu Jingyun. But so far, the Qi above Xu Jingyun’s head showed no such feedback.

Of course, it was also possible that he just hadn’t noticed it.

Or there could be other reasons.

Because of this, Han Jingyang didn’t mention any of it to Xu Jingyun.

The car drove into Xiaohe Village.

However, they found the village exceptionally lively, with people coming and going, very busy.

Liu Jing stuck her head out to look. ”It seems like someone’s family has something going on and needs help. It should be a wedding or a funeral; it’s always like this in the countryside.”

Han Jingyang nodded.

This kind of scene could only be seen in the countryside nowadays, and only someone with long-term experience living in the countryside could recognize it. For example, Shi Xiaoya was looking on with a face full of confusion.

The car drove slowly. The closer they got to Liu Qing’s house, the more people there were on the road.

Liu Jing realized something. ”Could it be that the old couple from Liu Qing’s family...”

Han Jingyang nodded. ”Most likely.”

”But when we saw them a few days ago, the old couple seemed quite healthy.”

”Yes, they were healthy then, but human life is so fragile. Fatal danger can be encountered anytime, anywhere. Not to mention, Liu Qing’s house hides an enormous danger factor.”

Liu Jing’s eyes widened. ”Boss, you mean... this wasn’t an accident?”

”I don’t know if it was an accident, but it’s also true that this family, especially the old couple, was very abnormal. Even if the two of them breathed their last at the same time, I wouldn’t be surprised.”

”You mean... it was man-made?”

”Yes, a Feng Shui layout. Success and failure both depend on Feng Shui. That’s why if ordinary people can’t be sure the Feng Shui master they’ve found is very reliable, they’re better off not looking for one at all. If a problem is found, they can just redecorate or move. Seeking intervention from a Feng Shui master is equivalent to planting a hidden danger. The first danger is that most Feng Shui masters have average skills and can’t truly guarantee results. The second is if the Feng Shui master has ulterior motives. Asking a Feng Shui master to adjust your Feng Shui is equivalent to handing your fate over to them. In serious cases, the life and death of the entire family will be in the Feng Shui master’s hands.”

”That’s so terrifying?”

”Liu Qing’s family is a typical example, though I’m not yet sure if their situation was an accident or intentional.”

”Then what should we do?”

”Let’s observe from the perimeter first,” Han Jingyang said while directing Shi Xiaoya. ”Park the car somewhere with surveillance that’s easy to leave from. We’ll disguise ourselves and go on foot to scout the situation.”

The three of them got out of the car and did a simple disguise.

It was actually just makeup.

Shi Xiaoya was very good at it. Although it didn’t reach the level of a full facial reconstruction, it was enough to deceive most people’s eyes.

At the very least, when Han Jingyang saw himself in the mirror, he was startled.

Even his face shape looked different.

In reality, it hadn’t changed, but by using foundation to create color differences, she created a different visual effect. The visual appearance of his face shape, eyes, nose bridge, and cheekbones was completely different from before.

It wasn’t a transformation technique, but it was better than one.

The most important thing was that if one didn’t look closely, they couldn’t tell. It was very realistic.

Disguises ready.

The three of them looked at each other and smiled, then headed straight for Liu Qing’s house.

On the way, they encountered a middle-aged man with a white cloth wrapped around his waist. Liu Jing reached out to stop him and asked in authentic Quancheng dialect, ”Uncle, how are you related to Liu Qing?”

”I’m his brother. You guys are...”

”We’re Liu Qing’s business partners. We wanted to talk to him about some business, but it looks like we’ve come at an inconvenient time?”

”That’s very inconvenient indeed. My old aunt passed away, and we’re busy with the funeral arrangements. He probably doesn’t have time to entertain you. How about coming back another day?”

”Since we’re already here, we should offer a stick of incense. Could you please lead the way, brother?”

”Alright, follow me.”
