The Feng Shui Treasure Appraiser

124: Chapter 124 Scientific ResearchHan Jingyang’s expression was calm: ”There is no such thing as a female ghost. In our terms, it’s just a ball of Qi—the Qi with the four dots underneath. In the understanding of us metaphysics practitioners, Qi is the most fundamental substance that constitutes this world. What is called Feng Shui is just a manifestation of Qi. We humans, including our thoughts and consciousness, are the same; we are a certain combination of Qi. After a person dies, the residual Qi has a certain probability of being preserved in a special form, which then becomes what people call a ghost. But in reality, it is not.”

”It is not?”

”It is not,” Han Jingyang smiled: ”In people’s perception, ghosts are just like humans, except they lack a physical body. They have consciousness, logical thinking, high intelligence, and even possess some special abilities, and after death, they enter the underworld to be reincarnated as humans.”

”There is no underworld?”

”Of course not. Institutions like the Heavenly Court or the underworld do not exist. There are no ghosts or immortals. All that exists are balls of Qi born from coincidences. They have no consciousness, no thoughts, and no logical thinking. They are just like clouds in the sky or rivers on the ground, existing or moving only by following the basic rules of this world.”

”But that Bridal Gown Woman just now seemed to have intelligence; she even knew how to ambush and hide.”

”That is instinct. After all, she absorbed the residual consciousness left behind after someone died, so she is more or less different from clouds or rivers, but that is all. It doesn’t even count as animal instinct.”

Li Jianliang became interested: ”Then what is the use of capturing her?”

Han Jingyang smiled: ”For experiments.”

”Huh?”

”metaphysics also needs to employ scientific thinking. Although it is generally considered unreliable and lacking in patterns, with various phenomena that cannot be verified, replicated, or analyzed, we practitioners have always believed that this is only because our abilities are not yet sufficient, and our experimental theories, environments, and equipment have not reached the relevant standards. However, this does not prevent us from understanding this world from our own perspective.”

”Impressive. That sounds very reasonable.”

”Perhaps in your lifetime, you will be able to see breakthroughs in this area,” Han Jingyang smiled: ”There is only one world. As long as a phenomenon or thing truly exists, whether it is science or metaphysics, they will inevitably converge in the end. It is just like this Qi; no matter what you call it, at the level of the world’s basic structure, you are studying the same thing. Because it truly exists, no matter how idealistic it may seem, it is still a part of the world’s structure. To bypass this part and not study it means that so-called scientific thinking is not that scientific after all.”

”Listening to your words is better than ten years of study. It makes me want to study metaphysics too.”

”To practice metaphysics, you need talent.”

”Hehe, Mr. Han, by the way, how did you let us see those things?”

”Just a small trick, not worth mentioning.”

”Why are those dharma instruments so colorful? White, blue, green, and also red and purple.”

”Oh, that’s a way of grading them, I suppose. I came up with it myself to make them easier to distinguish and more convenient to use. It doesn’t serve any other purpose.”

”You can do that?”

”The dharma instruments I have performed Consecration on can indeed achieve this. However, even without the colors, their form would not be affected. You see, the big ones are solid-colored or multi-colored.”

”Consecration, huh? That’s really impressive. Hey, Mr. Han, can we ordinary people use these dharma instruments?”

”Some you can, some you cannot.”

”What kind can we use?”

”Many of them can be used. For example, jewelry-type dharma instruments worn close to the body will naturally take effect. But if you want to set up a Feng Shui formation or use a dharma instrument to cast spells, do not attempt it. It is very dangerous.”

”Are dharma instruments expensive?”

”I don’t know about others, but mine are very expensive. The lowest-level dharma instruments cost tens of thousands, and slightly better ones start at six figures. If they have special effects, you might not even be able to buy them for millions or tens of millions. Just like the Buddha pendant I used earlier—that dharma instrument can activate the legendary Great Sun Light, which has infinite power. Even though it can only be used once, the price is not cheap, and you can’t buy it even if you have the money. I only have this one piece so far.”

”I see. In that case, can you sell me two pieces for self-defense?”

”Protective dharma instruments are in high demand. I don’t have any in stock right now, so not at the moment.”

”What kind do you have?”

”If you aren’t picky about quality or grade, there are quite a few types. However, they are all in Quancheng. If you want to buy two to wear for fun, go to my shop in Quancheng and take your time picking them out. It’s hard to explain clearly just by talking.”

At this moment, Li Jianfen asked with a cheeky smile: ”Mr. Han, I think that purple ornament looks quite nice. Who is it carved to be?”

”The True Martial Emperor.”

”Oh, so it’s the True Martial Emperor. May I ask, is this ornament for sale?”

Han Jingyang was not angry; instead, he replied with a smile: ”Manager Li, I don’t have anything in my hands that isn’t for sale. But to speak bluntly, you cannot afford it, and you certainly cannot suppress a magical artifact of this level.”

”Cannot afford it? How much?”

”Ten billion.”

”How much?” Li Jianfen stood up abruptly: ”Ten billion? Do you know what the concept of ten billion is? You could easily buy a villa complex or a hundred-story office building in the Capital with that.”

Han Jingyang countered: ”Then do you know what function this purple seated statue of the True Martial Emperor has?”

Li Jianfen was stunned: ”What function?”

Han Jingyang shook his head: ”Forget it, it’s useless to tell you. As I said before, you can’t afford it, you can’t suppress it, and you wouldn’t know how to use it anyway.”

Li Jianfen’s face was almost twisted with anger, yet she dared not show it.

At this moment, Li Jianjun coughed: ”Sit down, what are you doing? Is this your way of treating guests?”

Then he said to Han Jingyang: ”Mr. Han, don’t take it to heart. They don’t have any malicious intent; they are just purely ignorant. Not to mention them, even I was scared quite badly. My heart rate hasn’t even calmed down yet.”

Han Jingyang nodded slightly: ”I understand. Let’s eat; get some rest early after you finish.”

Li Jianliang chuckled: ”Mr. Han, how can we rest so early? After eating, let’s go out for a stroll. There are many fun places in the Capital. I’ll also introduce you to some good buddies; they are all young people.”

Han Jingyang shook his head and refused: ”Sorry, I’m not interested. Let’s talk about it another time.”

Li Jianliang was rejected repeatedly, his expression becoming very ugly, but he likewise dared not explode.

Han Jingyang sneered inwardly.

What is there to be arrogant about? Isn’t it just having a good father?

Without a good father protecting you, what are you? How dare you yell at me? I would have given you a hard lesson long ago.

I haven’t even seen anything yet on this trip to the Capital, and I’ve already witnessed the playboys of the Capital.

Truly playboys.

Damn it.

I’ve already demonstrated such powerful supernatural abilities, and you still have this attitude. Who do you take me for?

I am not like other monks or Taoists.

If I say I will wipe out your entire family, I can do it. Other Taoists, monks, and metaphysics practitioners don’t have this ability, and even if they did, it would be extremely strenuous for them.

But me...

While complaining inwardly, Han Jingyang ate his food leisurely while enduring the not-so-friendly gazes of Li Jianliang and Li Jianfen.

Must say, it was complete in color, aroma, taste, and presentation. Hot, cold, dry, soup, Western, and local specialties—a table full of delicious food that looked great.

Although he had to maintain the demeanor of an expert and couldn’t just stuff his face wildly.

But he could eat for a while longer.

Until he was full.

Cannot treat himself badly.

An expert, after all, has demeanor but does not need to be pretentious.

Besides, there was really no need to be polite in front of these three siblings.
