Urban Divine Doctor Descends the Mountain

Chapter 1138: Chapter 1137 What Exactly Happened That Year

Upon seeing Master Bai Mei’s hesitant demeanor, Lin Dong quickly pressed:

”Master Bai Mei, do you find yourself struggling to speak?”

”It’s not exactly unspeakable,” Master Bai Mei sighed, ”but thinking about it now, I feel somewhat remorseful towards your father. Ah... I have some misgivings.”

He then revealed to Lin Dong the events involving his father, Lin Zhantian, when he had visited the Sovereign Witch Sect.

It turned out his father had come to the Sovereign Witch Sect over twenty years ago, attracted by the legacy of the Sovereign Witch.

At the time of his visit, the Sovereign Witch Sect was under attack by a highly powerful Master Azan from the East Sea, who single-handedly defeated them.

Master Azan demanded that they hand over all witchcraft scriptures from ancient times. If the Sovereign Witch Sect refused, he threatened to exterminate the entire sect.

The Sovereign Witch Sect was indeed facing an existential threat.

Fortunately, at the critical moment, Lin Zhantian arrived and defeated Master Azan, saving the entire Sovereign Witch Sect.

After saving the Sovereign Witch Sect, Lin Zhantian made a request. He wanted to try his luck at their forbidden Divine Witchcraft Altar, to see if he could break the formation there and obtain the legacy of the Sovereign Witch.

However, at that time, the members of the Sovereign Witch Sect refused his request.

Getting to this point in the story, Master Bai Mei admitted guiltily:

”At that time, if your father Lin Zhantian really insisted, none of us would have been able to stop him.”

”But your father Lin Zhantian was an upstanding man and did not force the issue. Hearing our reluctance, he left without another word.”

”Now that I think back on it, we at the Sovereign Witch Sect indeed feel ashamed. We should not have refused him after he saved us.”

Hearing this, Lin Dong fell silent for a long time.

”Then, Master Bai Mei, do you know anything else about my father?” Lin Dong was eager to learn more.

Master Bai Mei shook his head: ”I don’t know much more. I only know that your father was extraordinarily gifted; I heard he was even more formidable than King Kunlun at that time.”

”But for some reason, twenty years ago, your father suddenly disappeared from this world...”

Master Bai Mei indeed knew little, only having had a brief connection with Lin Zhantian.

Seeing this, Lin Dong could only sigh. It seemed unlikely that he would find out more about his father from Master Bai Mei.

Lin Dong’s curiosity about the events of twenty years ago grew stronger.

Based on what Master Bai Mei and what he had learned so far, his father might have already reached the strength of a Ninth Level Grandmaster or even higher at that time.

Stronger than King Kunlun himself.

But if he was stronger than King Kunlun, how could he have been defeated in the end?

What exactly had happened?

Where did his father go after that incident?

And why didn’t he come to find them, mother and son?

Was his father still alive now? If so, where could he be?

Lin Dong truly wanted to know all this.

But now it seemed that only King Kunlun and the Lin family knew clearly about the past events.

”Brother Dong, we’ve... we’ve arrived!” Just then, a breathless voice called out.

Lin Dong turned towards the direction of the voice; it was Wang Cheng and Wang Qiqi who had climbed up the mountain.

Wang Qiqi was doing fine; although a woman, being a Divine General of the War Department, climbing a mountain was a piece of cake for her.

She wasn’t even breathing heavily at this moment.

As for Wang Cheng, being an ordinary person, the brisk climb up the mountain had certainly taken its toll on him.

Seeing the two, especially Wang Cheng, Zhang Tianjue couldn’t help but feel surprised, ”This young man’s mental power and spirit are quite strong; indeed, he’s a promising talent for cultivating mystical techniques!”

Suddenly recalling something, he asked with excitement, ”Master Lin, you said before that you wanted to introduce me to a disciple. Could it be that this disciple is him?”

Lin Dong smiled and nodded, then beckoned Wang Cheng over from that direction with a wave of his hand, signaling him to come over.

At the same time, he said to Zhang Tianjue, ”Indeed, it’s him!”

Although Wang Cheng was a bit tired, he still jogged over when he saw Lin Dong beckoning.

After arriving in front of Lin Dong and Zhang Tianjue, Lin Dong introduced him, ”This is Senior Zhang Tianjue...”

Before he could finish speaking, Wang Cheng ’pop pop’ slapped his sleeves twice and performed an ancient ritual of paying respect to a master.

”Disciple Wang Cheng pays respect to Master!”

”Hahaha...” Seeing this scene, Zhang Tianjue couldn’t help but stroke his beard and laughed heartily; he found the disciple Master Lin had recommended not only to have strong mental power and spirit and soul but also possessed a good talent for spells.

And he was also very clever.

Zhang Tianjue liked this kind of talent in Wang Cheng and immediately took out a compass, saying,

”This is my ’Bagua Compass.’ Since it’s our first meeting, consider this a gift from me.”

”Master, what is the use of this compass?” asked Wang Cheng, obviously interested in it and quickly inquiring after taking it.

”Hehe, it has many great uses,” replied Zhang Tianjue, as he started to operate the compass, and then, many gold-colored witch characters emerged within it.

Then Zhang Tianjue asked, ”Disciple, what are your Eight Characters of birth time?”

Wang Cheng promptly reported his Eight Characters.

After getting Wang Cheng’s Eight Characters, Zhang Tianjue exclaimed loudly, and the compass spun rapidly. Then, he laughingly said, ”Wang Cheng, did you have a minor car accident half a month ago?”

”Eh? Master, how do you know that?” Half a month ago, he got hit by a car while riding a bicycle and was hospitalized for a few days.

But how did his Master Zhang Tianjue know about it?

Zhang Tianjue laughingly said, ”This is the first function of the compass, to deduce past fortune and misfortune...”

”Wow, that’s really cool,” exclaimed Wang Cheng, thrilled.

”Haha, that’s just the first function of the compass. It has other uses too, such as searching for dragons and splitting gold, eliminating evil forces, or breaking certain geomantic killing formations... After you study spells with me and can operate this compass, you’ll know its many benefits!”

Hearing this, Wang Cheng’s eyes nearly bulged out in excitement.

He quickly said, ”Thank you, Master!”

After finishing, he bowed to Lin Dong as well, ”Thank you, Brother Dong, for recommending me a master.”

Lin Dong smiled faintly, appreciative of the spell Zhang Tianjue had just performed. The Way of Mystical Technique was indeed profound and vast.

He earnestly admonished Wang Cheng, ”From now on, practice diligently. As you step into the world of the Martial Way and spells, you must remember one principle.”

”That is to never cease striving, for the road of cultivation is endless. Never become complacent!”

Wang Cheng nodded strongly.

Thus, Wang Cheng’s apprenticeship was completed, and he officially became the disciple of Zhang Tianjue.

After accepting Wang Cheng as his disciple, Zhang Tianjue remembered to ask Lin Dong.

”By the way, Master Lin, weren’t you in Demon City recently? And I saw on the Martial Arts Dark Web that you are going to the Capital City soon to participate in the large comparison of the War Department.

”What brings you suddenly to our Southwest Region?”

At this question, Lin Dong explained his real purpose for visiting the Sovereign Witch Sect this time.

”To be honest, Senior Lin Tianjue, and Master Bai Mei, my purpose in coming to the Sovereign Witch Sect is actually for your sect’s Thousand-Year-Old Black Lotus!”

Upon hearing this, the expressions on both Master Bai Mei and Lin Tianjue’s faces changed.

Seeing this, Lin Dong felt a sinking feeling in his heart and thought to himself, could it be that these two were unwilling to give him the Thousand-Year-Old Black Lotus?
