Chapter 1106: Chapter 1105 I Can Treat with Acupuncture

”What? Only one in a thousand?” Upon hearing this, the Southwest King, Wang Kun’s face turned utterly dark.

This so-called one in a thousand chance, isn’t that basically the same as having no chance at all?

To put it bluntly, this is just to console them!

”What about the other doctors? What do they say?” Southwest King Wang Kun loudly asked the other doctors.

There were also quite a few Western medicine experts from Demon City present.

At the moment, they all lowered their heads, their level of neurosurgical skill was no match for Doctor Alice.

If Doctor Alice had only a one in a thousand chance of success with a craniotomy, theirs would be even less likely.

Seeing this, Southwest King Wang Kun sighed. He knew his father’s illness was severe, but he didn’t expect it to be this serious.

Even the world’s top neurosurgery expert had only a one in a thousand chance of surgical success.

Suddenly, he thought of something.

He quickly asked, ”Traditional Chinese Medicine, is there any way with Traditional Chinese Medicine?”

At this moment, he looked over at the group of famous figures in Traditional Chinese Medicine.

No sooner had he spoken than the Southwest King’s daughter, Wang Qiqi, said, ”Dad, the root of grandpa’s sickness is due to residual shrapnel in his head.”

”Traditional Chinese Medicine, although effective in treating chronic and rare diseases, is essentially powerless in dealing with this kind of condition.”

”This requires craniotomy, and clearly, Western doctors are more adept at that.”

Clearly, Southwest King Wang Kun understood this as well. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have come to Demon City; wouldn’t it have been better to go directly to the Capital City and seek Elder Wang Taisui and those other giants of Traditional Chinese Medicine?

It was precisely because he knew this that he had brought his father to Demon City. Because Demon City was the Dragon Country’s largest international metropolis, where the top Western medicine experts in the country were located.

It was also easy to invite overseas experts to ’fly’ over for surgeries.

”Actually, Traditional Chinese Medicine might not be entirely hopeless. I’ve seen a Traditional Chinese doctor cure a patient with a brain disease who also had residual shrapnel in their head. However, that patient’s condition wasn’t as severe as your esteemed elder...,” Thomas suddenly spoke up.

Hearing this, Doctor Alice shook her head and said, ”Doctor Thomas, are you joking?”

”At international conferences, I’ve also met many well-known figures in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Eastern Medicine. They excel in using acupuncture to cure diseases, but they are helpless against this kind of surgical disease.”

”Such a neurosurgical condition requires surgery. How could acupuncture possibly work?”

It was clear that Doctor Alice did not believe Traditional Chinese Medicine could treat surgical diseases.

Doctor Thomas hurriedly said:

”I didn’t believe it before either, but I saw it with my own eyes. Sigh, I wanted to take him as my teacher, but unfortunately, I was not talented enough in Traditional Chinese Medicine for him to formally take me as a disciple.”

Doctor Alice couldn’t help but laugh, ”Doctor Thomas, you must be crazy to even think of taking a Traditional Chinese doctor as a master. You are one of our ’Yingjiang Country’s’ top neurosurgeons. If even you would take a Traditional Chinese doctor as a master, wouldn’t our Western Medicine Association have to start introducing Chinese Medical Halls to learn from the Dragon Country?”

Thomas’s eyes brightened: ”Introducing Chinese Medical Halls into our Yingjiang Country, that’s a good idea. Doctor Alice, as a board member of the Western Medicine Association, you could propose this to the president.”

”Uh...” Doctor Alice was dumbfounded, saying incredulously:

”Introduce Chinese Medical Halls for learning in our country? Doctor Thomas, you must be out of your mind...”

Listening to the two arguing, Wang Qiqi also translated for Southwest King Wang Kun.

After hearing their conversation, the Southwest King couldn’t help but say:

”Qiqi, quickly ask that Doctor Thomas where that Traditional Chinese doctor is. Can he invite him over?”

Wang Qiqi frowned and said, ”Dad, do you really believe Traditional Chinese Medicine can treat surgical diseases?”

Southwest King replied, ”Didn’t Thomas say it could? Hurry and ask!”

”Oh.” Wang Qiqi nodded and promptly asked Doctor Thomas in English.

”Doctor Thomas, could you invite that Traditional Chinese doctor over?”

Thomas shook his head and said, ”No, I don’t know where he is now, and at the time, I didn’t keep his contact information, what a pity.”

”Alright.” Wang Qiqi helplessly translated for her father, Southwest King.

After listening, Southwest King Wang Kun also sighed deeply.

Just at this moment, several doctors emerged from the sickroom in a panic. ”It’s not good, the patient’s condition has taken a turn for the worse,” they exclaimed.

”His heart rate and blood pressure are at a critically low point. If we don’t perform surgery now, the old man won’t make it through the day!”

Doctor Alice hurriedly reviewed various medical reports.

After examining them, she said to Southwest King Wang Kun:

”We must arrange for surgery immediately. Although the success rate of the operation is one in a thousand, as long as there is a glimmer of hope, I recommend we proceed!”

”Without surgery, this patient won’t survive the day. To use an old phrase from your Dragon Country, it’s like ’trying to bring a dying horse back to life’.”

Wang Qiqi translated this for her father, Southwest King, and also said:

”Dad, we can only go through with the surgery. A one in a thousand chance is still a chance. I believe that grandpa has done so many good deeds, God will look after him.”

Southwest King Wang Kun had no choice but to nod in agreement.

”Okay, let’s go ahead with the surgery!”

Without surgery, the old gentleman wouldn’t live past today.

With surgery, there’s a one in a thousand chance of success.

So even if the odds are small, they had no choice but to take the gamble.

Hearing Southwest King agree to the surgery, Doctor Alice immediately turned to her team and said:

”Prepare for surgery at once!”

Just as they were about to operate, a voice rang out.

”I think there’s no need for neurosurgery! My acupuncture technique can cure Hero Wang!”

Whoa!

When this voice sounded, everyone turned to look in its direction.

What they saw was a young man in his early twenties.

Seeing someone her own age making such bold claims, the heroic beauty Wang Qiqi shouted:

”Who are you to make such outrageous statements, claiming acupuncture can cure my grandpa’s neurological disease?”

Many veteran Western doctors also loudly berated Lin Dong.

”Who is this greenhorn creating a scene here?”

”You’re barely over twenty, younger than the interns I have in my hand, what medical arts do you know? You probably can’t even get a grasp on the common cold!”

”I get that young people like to act like a pretentious prick, but the sickroom is not the place for that!”

”...”

These Western medical experts, busy with their practice, hadn’t had time to follow news from the Chinese Medicine World.

Therefore, they were unaware of the recent debates between Chinese and Eastern doctors and didn’t know Lin Dong’s identity!

Even the Southwest King furrowed his brow, frowning at Lin Dong, his eyes showing a hint of impatience.

Just as he was about to scold Lin Dong, an excited voice burst out.

”Master, it really is you! I thought I had mistaken someone else. It’s really you! What are you doing here!?”

This excited voice belonged to Thomas.

Like a child, he ran towards Lin Dong.

Other notable figures from the Chinese Medicine World also turned their gaze towards Lin Dong. Upon seeing him, many recognized his identity.

”He seems to be Chief Lin!” They rubbed their eyes and exclaimed in surprise.
