Is It Weird for a Guy to Apply to a Witch School?

Chapter 630: Resurrection Spell Derivative Spell: Reincarnation

“I understand.”

Hearing Academy Head Mei say that, I understood.

I hadn’t paid much attention before, but thinking about it now, everything made sense.

If Fool’s Dream’s current real-life body was an anchor... this meant that Academy Head Mei had created some kind of relationship between the Dream State consciousness and reality before granting Fool’s Dream a material foundation!

Otherwise, Dream State consciousness would be unable to influence the real world.

Unless it was similar to the Dream State invasion of reality in the Expansion Realm, where Dream State creatures could ”influence” reality through that special overlap relationship.

This influence was visually called ”luring consciousness into the Dream State,” but in essence, it was the ”Instant Dream Entry Spell.”

The Dream Magic Spell I synthesized was roughly this, and it could be used in reverse.

The innate talent of Dream State creatures could also be used in reverse to wake people up.

“So that means I just need to create a real body for Fool’s Dream, a body that can carry the mimicked soul?”

I asked Academy Head Mei curiously.

“Can the Resurrection Spell do that?”

“Your thinking is correct, but the simple Resurrection Spell might be too difficult.”

Mei Linde said, though she was quite satisfied with my answer.

“Then what is needed? A deeper level of derivation or some technique derived from the Resurrection Spell? Or... do I need other Spells?”

I asked.

“I’ve told you about the interpretation of life, haven’t I?”

“Yes, the Void went through a total of four.”

“And have I told you what the interpretation of life affects the most?”

“The Resurrection Spell.”

“Correct, the Resurrection Spell. The Resurrection Spell can be considered a system, or rather, it’s a composite Spell that is continuously optimized as the theory constantly progresses. Any Spell with the goal of resurrection and regeneration can be categorized as a Resurrection Spell, and the original Resurrection Spell can similarly derive any currently known resurrection spell.”

“So, to give Fool’s Dream a real body, I can do it just by relying on the Resurrection Spell, right?”

Upon understanding this, I found that the matter suddenly seemed simple.

Was the Resurrection Spell easy to derive?

I didn’t know, but at the very beginning, I modified the Resurrection Spell’s structure, changing it so that I could self-resurrect even after self-dying.

A few days ago, when I touched the boundary between the Dream State and reality, I again relied on the Resurrection Spell and other techniques to achieve the two usages of soul detachment and soul guiding.

Strictly speaking, these did not seem to be derivatives of the Resurrection Spell, but rather a kind of modding and utilization.

In that case, the derived effect of the Resurrection Spell could also specifically shape a body for Fool’s Dream in their mimicked soul state!

“Yes, so why don’t you try using the Resurrection Spell on Fool’s Dream?”

Mei Linde said with a smile, offering me a suggestion.

“Then I’ll try it first.”

I tilted my head to look at the three little girls.

They also understood my meaning.

They looked at each other, and finally, Fool’s Blue modestly stepped forward.

“Then Fool’s Blue goes first.”

I said with a smile.

Immediately, I began to cast the Resurrection Spell, but there was no movement after casting.

“Fool’s Dream currently doesn’t have a material body to carry the Resurrection Spell, so spell-casting materials are needed to provide the life carrier for resurrection.”

Mei Linde didn’t mind this small mistake of mine. Instead, she immediately reminded me, “Their original cage bodies are the best spell-casting materials. Give it a try. Even if you don’t, these bodies need to be destroyed, unless you change them back to the Dream State essence, and I help you stuff them back in.”

“Mhm, Big Sis Xiaohan, go ahead and use it. It’s okay.”

Fool’s Blue also noticed my hesitation and said carelessly, “I want a new body!”

“Alright.”

I nodded.

Since the user had agreed, this was no longer a desecration of her body.

As the Resurrection Spell was used again, my eyebrows furrowed once more.

“You’ve run into a problem, haven’t you?”

Mei Linde asked with a smile, as if she was trying to teach me something step by step.

“Yes, I can’t shape Fool’s Dream’s body...”

“You don’t have the body information as a template for body reconstruction, right?”

Mei Linde still spoke unhurriedly.

“The human body is a very complex existence, detailed down to every muscle, bone, blood vessel, and then to every body cell, organelle, telomere, and finally to genes, the life code... these structures are indispensable for the normal activity and metabolism of the body. Compared to these, so-called appearance, height, weight, hair color, and eye color are all obtained by modifying these underlying structures.”

“You’ve thought of something, haven’t you?”

“Mhm, that Metamorphic Incubation from before...”

That time, the Academy Head performed Metamorphic Incubation for me, giving me a chance to freely modify my own appearance...

“I gave you the macroscopic appearance modification permission, but the execution was done by me. This is something that a general Resurrection Spell cannot achieve. That’s why my Metamorphic Incubation Spell has an independent name outside of the Resurrection Spell, but it is also categorized under the Resurrection Spell.”

“So I lack Fool’s Dream’s body information...”

“Correct. You must have felt it when you resurrected yourself, right? You couldn’t change yourself into a different appearance when resurrecting yourself. So what exactly locks down your original appearance?”

“Um... may I try something?”

I inquired.

“Of course, feel free.”

Mei Linde said in a tone of granting permission.

I didn’t waste words, directly completing the preliminary setup with the Resurrection Spell, and then completing the ”direct death” rehearsal through soul detachment.

Ultimately, the pre-arranged Resurrection Spell would complete the resurrection by treating the original body as spell-casting material.

In fact, a soul guiding could complete the resurrection in this manner, but I resurrected myself to understand how the Resurrection Spell completed the original body reconstruction, so the body naturally needed to be reconstructed once.

Soon, my soul was guided by the Resurrection Spell, and a brand new body was constructed...

And I opened my eyes at this moment.

“The absolute control of the self-awakened Body Cultivation over the body... that doesn’t seem quite right either...”

Mei Linde did not say anything at this moment, seemingly waiting for me to analyze the answer myself.

However, for someone who dared to personally ”die” once just to get an answer... that courage was commendable.

And I fell into deep thought at this moment.

The main reason I dared to use the Resurrection Spell so capriciously was because of the Resurrection Spell combined with the absolute control of self-awakened Body Cultivation over the body.

But this reason was not universally applicable.

Not everyone was a self-awakened Body Cultivator, and not everyone could resurrect their dead self using the Resurrection Spell; it had to be done through someone else.

At this moment, I didn’t hesitate to take out my Resurrection Spell Spellbook.

Then I took it apart.

After all, I had disassembled it before when I researched it, so I wouldn’t be as cautious this time.

Combining my previous personal experience, I searched for the corresponding Rune Ritual structure within the disassembled Resurrection Spell Spellbook.

I already had some ideas before taking apart this Spellbook.

The body’s structure was so complex.

The Resurrection Spell not requiring the caster to piece together such a complex life form structure indicated that there must be some shortcut that replaced this process.

And this shortcut was the key that I overlooked.

Therefore, there must be a crucial part of the Rune Ritual structure within the Spellbook that could prove its existence.

A channel used to acquire body information!

Or rather, an information acquisition channel.

Combined with the hint ”the evolution of the Resurrection Spell through the interpretation of life,” this channel was clearly constructed upon the essence of life!

So how many versions did the essence of life have?

Four.

Life Energy, Memory, Soul-substance, and Soul.

This meant that all four aspects could set up a ”backup” for retaining body structure information, the only difference being in quality.

And as quality issues arose, the inferior ones were naturally eliminated.

So... this meant that the soul contained the information about my own body structure?

I truly hadn’t considered these things before now.

“Found it...”

When I isolated and transcribed a crucial structure from the Rune Ritual of the disassembled Resurrection Spell, I put the Resurrection Spell back together exactly as it was, leaving only the transcribed Rune Ritual structure with me.

After activating this structure, I proactively used my soul to touch the ritual.

Soon... massive amounts of information surged in like a tide.

However, this magnitude was nowhere near that of Floating World-level Spirit Vision, so I acquired the informational data of my own body structure almost without changing my expression.

But compared to discovering this truth, the subsequent discovery shocked me even more.

Because... this cognition of one’s own body structure had already become an instinct of self-awakened Body Cultivation!

No wonder it was so difficult for me to discover the truth.

Realizing the existence of instinct was the most difficult hurdle.

Although realizing the instinct meant switching from automatic to manual, with the elevation of my cognition, this was not a burden but brought me more subjective control and ”freedom”!

“It seems you have a completely new discovery?”

Mei Linde asked with a smile.

She didn’t know exactly what the other party had discovered in this attempt, but a gain was certain.

“Mhm...”

I nodded.

After realizing that my body’s appearance could be changed, I began to think: what was the significance of the body and the soul to me as an individual?

The soul was my essence.

So did the lack of a body matter?

As long as I cast aside conventional cognition and external perspectives, I was still myself.

I had this thought because I was trying to find the significance of the body to me.

Was the material body merely a simple carrier?

If it was a carrier, then that meant the body could be forcefully seized.

Can the body be forcefully seized?

It seems... it can.

I quickly shook my head and discarded these thoughts, because I realized I was thinking too deeply.

If these thoughts were spread, I would probably be deemed a lunatic, right?

Being human requires a bottom line, or rather, being myself also requires guarding a bottom line in my heart.

My initial intention should not be to find this bottom line, but to define it myself.

Constantly searching only explores how low the bottom line can be, but it doesn’t tell me where my bottom line is.

I should confirm this bottom line based on my own ”cognition,” and only then can I confirm what kind of person (Witch) I want to become based on this bottom line.

But regardless of what my bottom line was, one fact was laid out before me.

After confirming the body structure model of life, I mastered another method: by only modifying the information of the life essence, the physical body would change accordingly.

Isn’t this a Resurrection Spell derivative Spell?

”Body-Swapping Resurrection.”

No, no, no... the potential of this Spell is far greater than that!

What if I modified the gender of the life essence?

What if I modified the bloodline constitution?

What if I modified the race information?

As long as I master the knowledge to modify this information, I can do these things.

It’s just that I have no accumulation right now, so I can’t do anything, but that doesn’t negate the fact that it can be done.

So this Spell is far more than ”Body-Swapping Resurrection”; it completely changes a person’s life!

Perhaps it’s not just limited to people.

This should be called... ”Body-Swapping Rebirth”!

No... saying that doesn’t seem accurate either.

What is converted is far more than just the body.

If I can understand the essence of a race, or even the bloodline of a life form, I can even convert the other party’s race!

Their bloodline!

And even transform the other party’s memory during the resurrection...

The prerequisite is killing the other party, and then resurrecting them.

So why not be more ambitious and give it a more fitting name?

How about... ”Reincarnation”?

“You’ve been thinking for a long time. So... is it convenient to tell us? If not, you don’t have to. We still respect individual privacy very much.”

Mei Linde asked when she saw that my ”daze” had ended.

“Um... may I ask another question?”

“Of course, I like children who ask many questions. Go ahead.”

“Can the body information of a life essence modify gender? Can it modify race? Can it modify bloodline? Can it modify... memory?”

Hearing my words, not only Mei Linde but also the few Witches behind her all constricted their pupils.

They were all frightened by this crazy idea!

But they quickly accepted the idea.

After all... they were Witches.

“Theoretically, it is possible, but to modify a bloodline, you need to acquire the source information of that special bloodline. To modify a race, you need to break the racial lock set up by that race. Any Transcendent race with some strength will set up anti-theft locks for their own racial information, to prevent their racial bloodline information from being exposed and then studied for targeted means against that race. This is all-around protection and naturally guards against your little ideas. You can naturally modify the information of an undefended race, but you need to acquire that information as a prerequisite.”

After recovering, Mei Linde took a deep breath, then painstakingly explained in more detail.

“It seems, Xiaohan... you’ve had some incredible idea again?”

“Mhm... I want to create a Resurrection Spell derivative Spell called Reincarnation. Does this Spell already exist?”

“Reincarnation... it does exist, but not every Witch can learn it, let alone craft it into a Spellbook. At least, this Spellbook does not exist in the Witch Academy.”

“Then... can your Metamorphic Incubation not achieve Reincarnation, meaning the degree I just mentioned?”

“I am not a Witch specializing in the Resurrection Spell, and I only possess this Spellbook, so I cannot do it.”

“Then the upper limit of this Spellbook can achieve it... is that right?”

“I don’t know. Theoretically, the upper limit of any Spell is terrifying, especially for prototype Spells, because they contain Sequence Derivation Spells. But the vast majority of Witches cannot reach the upper limit of a Spellbook.”
