Is It Weird for a Guy to Apply to a Witch School?

Chapter 623: The Predicament of the Main World Families

After a round of negotiation, under the joint witnessing of this Teaching Assistant Winnie and me, the cooperation for the construction of the second Shelter was reached.

No one knew what the two sides discussed in that short period, but onlookers only cared about what the two sides ultimately wanted to convey.

Everyone was not stupid, and they did not delve deeply into this matter; any gossip would be kept private.

And now, with the help of the crowd, this Spatial Maze incident was considered temporarily over.

Those whose consciousness and bodies were lost in different places quickly received help; after all, the space was now dispersed and no longer affected by the Earth Vein flow, making the search naturally easier.

Not to mention I also shared the Earth Vein Information; even if the Magic Power Thread Network they set up had collapsed, they could still accurately find clues.

After the incident ended, many exploration teams packed up and headed back.

This event served as a lesson for everyone on the dangers in this Expansion Realm; even if they possessed powerful strength, they could not act as they pleased.

The trip to the Seed Bank was a thorough lesson for them.

And on the way back.

“Big Sis Winnie, are we going back just like this?”

“What else? Fight that person to the death? I can’t beat her.”

Winnie snorted lightly.

“Wait a minute, isn’t that my line?”

“Is there a problem? It’s just stating a fact; we took a loss this time.”

Winnie said indifferently, completely devoid of the emotional dominance she showed earlier.

“So we admit defeat? Big Sis Winnie, I’ve never seen you back down before.”

“You haven’t? Then you’ve seen too little. Anyway, this time wasn’t without its gains.”

“Huh? We gained something even from this?”

“At least we know that person is playing dumb and will go along with the act. We also know how strong her connections are among the mentors, and that she’s not completely impervious to reason. We learned what interests her, tested her bottom line, and also learned one of her personality traits: she’s afraid of trouble, and also... has a lot of internal thoughts.”

“Is that a gain?”

“Isn’t it? She’s an unstable factor. We can’t keep thinking how much better it would be without her; instead, we must accept the unchangeable fact that she is here. By trying to lower our psychological expectations, any gain is enough to make us happy.”

“Then... why did we agree to build a Shelter here? Such a big incident just happened here; basic construction will be very troublesome, as is the matter of material transport. Moreover, there’s a Dream State Overlap here, and with those Dream State creatures popping up constantly, who could possibly live here?”

And there was one thing she didn’t mention: she was the only one present representing the Wan Shi Wu Club to agree to this matter; the other clubs didn’t want to deal with her at all.

“During the subsequent conversation, didn’t she tell us that she would solve it?”

“You believed her?”

“Rationally, I don’t believe it, but what if? Besides, she doesn’t have to take action herself, right? A mentor can too.”

“So it’s a gamble? What if we lose the gamble?”

“If we win the gamble, our Wan Shi Wu Club gets a free ride. Can you imagine how convenient it would be for us to explore further into the Expansion Realm if a Shelter were constructed there? As for losing the gamble... we didn’t sign a Witch’s Contract, and our lower limit is much lower than hers.”

Winnie said indifferently.

“Let’s not talk about this. Let’s focus on the outside world.”

“The outside world? What do you mean?”

“Didn’t you notice? The mentors of the Witch Academy treat our world the same way they treat the Expansion Realm. Mentors never care about social development outside the academy.”

“Just like now, the mentors opened the door to the Expansion Realm and let us do as they pleased. How similar is this to the current division of power in our world? But don’t forget, our base is in the Main World, not here.”

Winnie asked.

Her full name was Winnie Baker, and the family she belonged to was not an obscure existence.

Their Baker family was a family close to the Witch Academy, and the family naturally supported and relied on the Witch Academy.

Although the Transcendent Academy did not interfere with the outside world, it did not grant this kind of family power, nor would it acknowledge the existence of such a family structure.

But as long as they did not prohibit it, it was tacit approval.

Even if no power was granted, the power brought by Transcendent strength was invisible and permeated every aspect of life.

Because of the Witch Academy’s specific nature, becoming a witch meant losing fertility, so her family naturally did not have only one heir.

It should be said that there were many children, forming a vast family line.

Many children, even if very talented, were not qualified to enter the Witch Academy, because someone had to carry on the family line, right?

And she, as the most outstanding heir, entered the Witch Academy, and her daily study schedule had been planned long ago.

Did she truly become a Teaching Assistant because she was exceptionally brilliant?

No, she was only the most outstanding in the family, but she was not considered a top-tier genius.

Her achievement relied more on hard work, sufficient preparation, and the cultivation of relationships with mentors early on.

And students who were unaware of the process of taking the Teaching Assistant exam probably missed many opportunities from the very beginning.

Putting those things aside, the current division of power in the Main World was also established this way initially.

The Transcendent Academy did not interfere with outside development; they only needed the outside society to operate stably, with a sufficient batch of excellent students entering the Transcendent Academy every year, and another batch flowing into work positions to maintain social development.

So the original social structure was not very different from the pioneering efforts in the Expansion Realm.

The only difference was that the Expansion Realm was more primitive, and the methods they could use were more violent.

And their prerequisite for developing the Expansion Realm was... maintaining the stability of the Main World’s social operation.

Now, many mainstream large families even faintly suspected that the Transcendent Academy might be planning a major move, and that the arrival of these “players” might even be a self-directed, self-acted show orchestrated by the united Transcendent Academies.

The purpose was to prevent them from completely solidifying the class structure of the Main World.

What was the Transcendent Academy training students for?

To let the students advance to Transcendent.

But most of them chose to graduate to secure more benefits for their families, rather than achieving Transcendent status and becoming a member of that race.

So they had sufficient reason to suspect that the Transcendent Academy was specifically targeting the existence of their families.

However, they did not dare to state this view too clearly, much less question the mentors; otherwise, it would seem somewhat rebellious.

But right now, there was indeed a problem they had to face and solve: the player invasion.

They had to resolve this matter!

Failing to resolve it made it impossible for them to rest and eat in peace.

Moreover... with so many people pouring into the Expansion Realm, and the Main World losing the deterrence of direct power, those players had already infiltrated every class of society!

It was as if the entire world was playing Werewolf; no one knew who the Werewolves were.

And the current adverse public opinion in the Main World’s society also indicated one thing: players had mixed into the high ranks of the families!

Not just the families, but the high-level personnel in all walks of life under the family’s collateral lines, influential figures in society…

They dared not think further.

“So... do we need to reduce our investment in the Expansion Realm?”

“No, we need to increase it, but our energy cannot be entangled by these matters. Let’s find some Proxies to help.”

“But this will also decrease our control over the Expansion Realm.”

“So we need to change our mindset and befriend that Teaching Assistant Yang Yuehan. She is indeed an unstable factor, but it depends on how we use her.”

Winnie explained, “I have already played the bad guy, but on the standing of this second Shelter, our Wan Shi Wu Club is the only one standing by her. Let’s find another person to play the good guy and flatter her, and by the way, test whether she responds better to kindness or force... Forget it, let’s stick to kindness; I’m afraid of accidents if we try force.”

“So... this is no longer a matter of profit, is it?”

“What do you think? This is already a matter of survival, isn’t it?”

...

At the Myriad Connection Main Network Tree.

After seeing those people off, I had some space to myself.

No one remained here; after all, only the Teaching Assistant from the Wan Shi Wu Club agreed to my proposal to construct a Shelter.

Before forming any residential scale here, this place was a danger zone for most people.

The pervasive space here, even when propped open by the Myriad Connection Main Network Tree, still had many risky areas.

Moreover, with the Dream State Overlap environment, most people avoided it if they could.

However, I had not expected the Teaching Assistant from the Wan Shi Wu Club to agree.

But... seeing how quickly they left, I started to suspect if they just agreed verbally to get away first or something.

But it was fine that they left.

After all, I had many things to do, and I didn’t want to be watched by so many people like a monkey.

However, the most important thing now was... completing the Myriad Connection Main Network Tree’s test.

The main function of the Myriad Connection Main Network Tree now was to produce fruit that allowed ordinary people to obtain the “Game Qualification.”

This was a very aggressive way for ordinary people to rapidly gain power.

And the threshold was also very low; the most basic Mental Power was enough.

As the Class Change System was perfected, the Mental Power threshold required for player class changes might even disappear, relying entirely on subconscious interface operation.

And the quickest way to test the effect of this new Myriad Connection Main Network Tree was... to catch some people to try it out, and incidentally, have them construct a Shelter here.

However, these procedures were still too cumbersome for me.

It seemed I needed to optimize a set of systematic operations to let those people quickly construct a set of Shelters.

Otherwise, at this rate, when would I be able to fill the entire Expansion Realm with Myriad Connection Main Network Trees?

However, I had an idea now.

That was... to establish a new class!

Then open up a new Skill Tree, where all the skills were Spells for quickly building houses, such as Earth Shaping, Earth Hardening, Plant Reinforcement, and so on.

But... would anyone actually choose such a class?

Or did such a class have development prospects?

This indeed seemed to be a problem that needed solving.

After thinking for a while, I also came up with a method: open the Sub-Class System!

It was not difficult to implement this idea; it was merely the merging of class systems, after all, I was the developer of these functions.

However, I now had another problem to face: there were no people around this Myriad Connection Main Network Tree.

The reason was simple: this was a Dream State Overlap area!

Ordinary people did not know Dream Magic Spells, and if their consciousness was trapped in the Dream State by those Dream State creatures, no one would dare to come, for sure.

In this chaotic world, everything naturally prioritized one’s own life.

Therefore... this Dream State Overlap area definitely had to be dealt with.

However, this was not about whether I should take action to smooth it over; rather, it was determined by the current state between reality and the Dream State in the Expansion Realm.

Most areas of the Expansion Realm were currently in a state where the Primal Dream State had not yet arrived.

It was merely the appearance of the Expansion Realm.

Only after the Dream State overlapped with reality could there be an intersection, and only after an intersection could I take action to smooth it over.

The Primal Dream State would eventually swallow the entire Expansion Realm, and the Dream State would return to a state of non-interference with reality again, and I was merely accelerating this process.

Thinking of this, I also quickly expanded my Mental Realm Domain.

Everything around me was encompassed and continued to spread outward.

The coverage of the Mental Realm Domain was very extensive, and only when I felt strained would I temporarily slow down the progress.

Currently, the coverage of my domain roughly encompassed the entire Dream State Overlap area spreading out from the Earth Vein Convergence Point.

Although I knew this Dream State Overlap area would continue to spread outward, for now, it was enough.

When my domain unfolded, I suddenly noticed many Dream State creatures appearing around me in fear, flying about restlessly.

“I almost forgot about you, but I’m sorry, your existence is an obstruction to me.”

I sighed softly, but unfortunately, they could not understand.

I would not form any special bond with these creatures, even though that large Dream State creature helped me complete the refinement of the Primordial Rune; it was merely a successful transaction.

As for them, they should go back and stay in the Dream State.

As the order within my domain flowed, countless Power of Knowledge derived a special Rune Ritual, forming a resonance of a specific frequency.

And this movement directly scared those Dream State creatures into scurrying around.

This was my first time attempting such a large-scale Dream State Resonance, and many techniques were still in the experimental stage.

Just like now, I was experimenting.

Experimenting with what?

Experimenting with smoothing the Dream State Overlap?

No, I was experimenting with what kind of result this frequency of resonance would bring, whether it would intensify the overlap between the Dream State and reality or diminish the convergence of the Dream State and reality.

Everything naturally needed to be handed over to practice to yield the most authentic answer.

At this moment, after experiencing the initial anomaly and finding that nothing happened, those Dream State creatures became active again, until they playfully slammed into the thick trunk of the Myriad Connection Main Network Tree.

“That doesn’t seem right; this seems to be intensifying the overlap between the Dream State and reality...”

I looked with slight embarrassment at the “Dream State Myriad Connection Main Network Tree” that had reappeared in the Dream State.

The information from this tree had already entered the Dream State, forming a concrete Dream State Construct!

“Sure enough, this frequency intensifies it... I should try changing the Resonance Frequency... Maybe I should do more comparative experiments to see the Highest Peak Value...”

I muttered to myself.

But maintaining such a large-scale Mental Realm Domain and still trying to conduct multiple comparative experiments was too strenuous.

Perhaps expanding the domain so widely all at once was truly a mistake.
