Lingering Doting Marriage: Big Boss, Little Sweet Heart

Chapter 1276: Chapter 1276: This Newcomer is Kind of Interesting Chapter 1276: Chapter 1276: This Newcomer is Kind of Interesting She just didn’t want to listen to the outlandish love stories fabricated outside.

She never expected her actions would catch the eye of another man.

Kingston Howard had just greeted the President and was preparing for a meeting, spinning like a top from early morning, stealing a rare moment of leisure to brew a cup of coffee for a boost of energy.

This floor was entirely occupied by the Planning Department, where everyone was buzzing about the President’s visit earlier that morning; the break room was practically deserted.

Just as he relaxed and prepared to grab his coffee, he saw a petite woman in a white blouse and skirt sitting quietly in the corner, reading a book.

In front of her was a freshly brewed cup of coffee, the steam wafting over her face, inexplicably evoking images of idyllic landscape paintings and the tranquility of ‘an era of peace.’

It wasn’t that he hadn’t seen beautiful women before; in fact, with his age and income, he was never short of pretty women swirling around him. The young lady in front of him was indeed attractive, but not exceptionally so. Yet, for some reason, at that moment, his heartstrings felt as though they were plucked, stirring an indescribable sentiment within him.

Why had he never seen her before?

As a Director, he knew everyone in the Planning Department, or at least recognized them. Those he had not seen were only the newcomers—the ones who had been directly assigned here!

The Lawrence Corporation controlled countless subsidiaries, large and small, with wide-ranging interests in various industries. Anyone who worked at the Headquarters, even in the most inconspicuous of positions, usually got there through an extremely competitive interview process.

Another way was exemplary performance in a subsidiary that led to a promotion to the Headquarters.

In his recent years, Kingston hadn’t encountered a direct assignment like this, but yesterday the Human Resources Department did in fact call him, informing him that a newcomer would be joining their department and hinted that he should take good care of her.

At the time, he was worried about the newcomer’s background. If they sent some difficult woman, it would be troublesome for him.

Now, as he saw the petite woman in front of him who inexplicably brought a sense of peace to his mind, he was taken aback.

Could it be that she was the new employee assigned to their department?

She was nothing like what he had imagined…

Lost in his thoughts, Kingston didn’t notice that Enna Clark was unaware of being observed. She briefly flipped through the Lawrence Corporation’s history and closed the book, placing it back in its spot. Glancing at her watch, she guessed the discussions outside were probably winding down. Without turning her head towards the coffee machine, she picked up her mug and walked out…

Kingston watched her retreating figure disappear from his line of sight, nearly calling out to her but luckily swallowed his words the second before speaking.

He actually wanted to strike up a conversation with someone he had only seen once… Kingston himself was so incredulous that he widened his eyes in disbelief.

When he realized he truly wanted to approach her like a twenty-something-year-old lad, he pursed his lips and couldn’t help but chuckle, shaking his head.

Perhaps, he should get to know her first. If this parachuted-in girl wasn’t the type he assumed, he could actually try to make a move.

Kingston took his coffee and sat in the spot previously occupied by Enna Clark, picking up the book she had just put down. Upon seeing ‘Company Profile’ on the cover, the smile on his lips brightened further.

Sitting in the break room reading the Company Profile, this newcomer was quite interesting…
