Chapter 411: Chapter 411: The Cat Turned to Stone

”A comic book?” Professor Flitwick was stunned, his eyes wide. He didn’t quite understand what his most outstanding student was doing.

”It seems that our Professor Lockhart not only forgot the specific locations of his glorious adventures, but also isn’t very familiar with the geography of England.” Gerard smiled, hinting, ”But why did he describe it in such detail in his books?”

”That’s really strange,” Professor Flitwick said, touching his chin. ”The things he wrote in his books feel very real, as if he knows everything. But his actual performance is a bit disappointing.”

Saying ”disappointing” was Flitwick’s polite way of putting it. In his eyes, Lockhart was simply an ignorant idiot.

Not to mention anything else, just look at the way he casts spells, it’s a disaster!

”There’s something else very strange.”

Gerard reached out and gently tapped the table, saying, ”If you look closely at his books, you can see that his methods of driving away ghosts and werewolves are completely different. Driving away ghosts uses the traditional ideas of the Sayer school, while driving away werewolves uses the newer Rogue school. As far as I know, the followers of these two schools are like fire and water. How can Professor Lockhart combine them?”

”You mean...” Professor Flitwick was instantly stunned, finally realizing something was wrong.

He naturally knew that the magical world’s anti-dark arts alliance was divided into different schools. He also knew very well that some schools were indeed like fire and water.

Because of certain differences in ideas, they not only never interacted with each other, but sometimes even fought when they met.

And to learn the exorcism methods of a certain school, you must first make sure that you have not learned the techniques of other schools. This needs to be proven by a blood oath, and there is no possibility of faking it. 𝑓𝑟ℯℴ𝓂

If that’s the case, how could Lockhart use the methods of two different schools to perform exorcisms?

Professor Flitwick thought of many things and immediately couldn’t sit still. ”This is a big deal, I need to report it to Dumbledore!” Saying that, he was about to stand up from his chair.

”Don’t be so anxious, Professor Flitwick.” Gerard gently shook his head, stopping him. ”Do you think Professor Dumbledore, with his wisdom, really can’t see it?”

”If that’s the case, why would he still recruit Lockhart?”

”Instead of letting this kind of person run wild, it’s better to keep him under your own eyes and supervise him personally. I think that’s probably Dumbledore’s method.”

”That’s really not appropriate,” Flitwick said, stunned, shaking his head and sighing.

He could understand Dumbledore’s approach, but it didn’t mean he agreed with it. The head of Ravenclaw was a straightforward person and didn’t like those complicated things.

He felt it was wrong to keep this kind of troublemaker at Hogwarts. Although it could ensure that he wouldn’t continue to cause trouble in the magical world, the students were suffering.

As a professor, shouldn’t the interests of the students be the top priority?

”Let’s not talk about this, let’s continue talking about Wix Perks,” Gerard decisively changed the subject, saying, ”After two years of research, my silent spells can already be shortened to the fourth character. But extending it further, I’ve encountered a bottleneck. If I want to compress the spells further, it seems that I need to improve the silent spells.”

”You’ve done very well, Zickrein,” Flitwick said with admiration, saying, ”This is a groundbreaking advance in the idea of spells. If you publish this research paper, you’ll definitely get another Merlin Medal! I guarantee it!”

”I just did what I could, it’s not...”

Before Gerard could finish speaking, a young wizard stumbled into the hall. ”Professor, professors! I think you need to come out and see, something’s happened outside!”

”Don’t worry, child.” Dumbledore calmly wiped his mouth and put down his knife and fork. ”The professors and I will go now.” He stood up and walked down the steps.

The professors looked at each other and followed in unison.

The corridor of the stairwell, crossing the hallway. Led by the young wizard, the crowd came to an open space, where many people had already gathered.

Gerard first saw Hermione, Harry, and Ron standing on the side, and the tabby cat hanging opposite them on a torch stand.

That was the cat of the caretaker Filch, named Mrs. Norris.

She usually roamed the corridors, very lively and spirited. But now she was stiff all over, lying on the stand as if dead.

Next to the cat, on the wall not far away, were some crooked ancient English characters: The Chamber of Secrets has been opened. Enemies of the heir, beware!

”The Chamber of Secrets, is it that Chamber of Secrets?”

”The legendary Chamber of Secrets of Slytherin?”

”Oh my god, this is terrible!”

The students were talking about it, and Filch was looking at Harry Potter and the others with grief and anger. ”You, you did it! You killed her, you are murderers!”

”No, we didn’t!”

”We didn’t do it!”

Harry and Ron argued loudly, while Hermione pouted with a look of grievance.

”Alright, everyone disperse.” Dumbledore waved his hand, telling the young wizards to return to their respective house common rooms. ”Mr. Potter, Mr. Weasley, and Miss Granger, you stay.”

”If you ask me, this must be some kind of powerful dark magic!” Lockhart stepped forward to look at the cat and immediately gave his own speculation. ”Very strong, very very strong, instantly obliterating its soul!”

”No! My poor Mrs. Norris!” Filch let out a mournful cry, saying, ”You murderers, cruel murderers!” His eyes glared at Harry, Ron, and Hermione with anger.

”Calm down, Filch,” Dumbledore advised, turning his gaze to Gerard. ”Professor Zickrein, what do you think?”

”It’s petrification.” Gerard just glanced at it casually and said, ”The life force hasn’t been destroyed. The attacker cast the spell very quickly, almost silently. Even a senior Auror would find it difficult to achieve this speed and skill.”
