THE GOD EATER

Apparently, Money Body was willing to say anything apart from admitting that he lied. This made Loki chuckle inwardly.

Loki was actually amused by Money Body’s actions. After all, he already knew that Money Body would need 1 million years of lifespan to complete the Supreme Metac. That was something he perceived on the same deep level as Money Body.

But he hadn’t said anything when Money Body lied to his face. He also didn’t say anything now. Instead, he shouted back and forth with Money Body, feigning anger at being deceived.

Eventually, the Supreme Metac was completed. The product was a golden crystal crown. It was within the core of Money Body’s Cave Heaven and it was shining with a golden mysterious light.

As soon as the golden crystal crown was completed, Money Body’s power soared. His rank rose from rank 8 to rank 9.

A golden crown also appeared above his head. It replaced the golden flame above his head, and golden robes appeared over his body. This made him look like a king.

He didn’t need to do this at all. He could have kept the golden crown a secret and looked like an ordinary person. But created the manifestations so that he would look the part of a rank 9 being.

He had waited for too long for this and wanted to relish it. He also wanted people to see him and be aware of his great power, so he decided to do something showy.

After changing how he appeared, he spread his arms wide and laughed. His laughter rang out through the second heaven with impunity and pride.

As he laughed, he said, ”Today has finally arrived. From now on, the sky is the limit. From today onwards, I will be a king, and I will rule them all.”

Clearly, he was very happy. But what he didn’t expect was that Loki would also be happy. In fact, Loki was so happy that he was smiling and clapping.

As he clapped, he said, ”Congratulations. Congratulations on your breakthrough.”

Loki was the last person he expected to be happy for him. After all, he had promised to punish Loki after his advancement. So he was first confused when Loki began to clap and congratulate him.

But then he realized what Loki was doing, so he chuckled and said, ”I know what you’re doing. You’re hoping that if you make me happy, I won’t punish you too much.”

In response, Loki also chuckled and said, ”You’ve done well. But playtime’s over. It is now time to collect my due.”

Money Body’s confusion returned when he heard this. He frowned slightly as he tried to understand what Loki could be talking about. But then, the frown on his face disappeared and was quickly replaced by a look of pain.

The pain was caused by his Life Fire dwindling and weakening. This made him scream hysterically, saying, ”What is going on? What is wrong with my Supreme Metac?”

When Loki heard this, he snorted and said, ”What do you mean, ’your Supreme Metac?’ Whose materials did you use to make it?”

Then he patted his chest as he said leisurely, ”I gave you the materials. All you did was help me build the Supreme Metac.”

Money Body’s fave fell when he heard this. But Loki chuckled and said, ”What a silly goose. The fact that you built something doesn’t mean it is yours.”

”You’re just a blacksmith. I am the one who commissioned the Supreme Metac. At most, I have to pay you for your services. But the Supreme Metac isn’t yours.”

At this point, Money Body realized that he had been played. Even now, he didn’t know how he had been played. But he knew without a doubt that he had been played.

He wanted to resist, but he had lost control of the Supreme Metac. The feeling was as if he had been borrowing the Supreme Metac all along, not that he created it. It was an absurd feeling. He would be laughing if his life weren’t in danger.

Unfortunately for him, his strength had left him, and he was weakening even more as his Life Fire dimmed. Even his divine body began to flicker like a candle in the wind.

So the best he could do was say, ”It seems it was too good to be true. At the end of the day, nothing is for free in this world. Everything has a price. This is the price I have to pay. Well played. You have my respect.”

Then he died.

His Life Fire went out. The golden crown on his head and the golden robes on his body were the first to go. They disappeared directly.

Then his divine body followed. His body was shattered and scattered into the wind. Thus, Money Body was no more.

Money Body’s last words made Loki nod in satisfaction and say, ”I am impressed. Not many people could look death in the face like that and accept it.”

”Money Body is truly an admirable player in this dog-eat-dog game of the world. No one can call him a sore loser.”

But he remembered something which made curl his lips and say, ”To be honest, there was rhay one time Money Body was a sore loser. He didn’t want to accept his loss, so he turned the tables upside down. So maybe he wasn’t a model player after all.”

He was talking about that time during his second mission to Oceania when he made a bet with Money Body. The bet was about the success of the crystal ant in planting the shield breaker in Oceania.

He had bet that the crystal ant would fail. Money Body bet that the crystal ant would succeed. The winner was to gain control of the loser.

Money Body had lost that bet. But instead of taking his loss like a good sportsman, he became bitter about it. Then he said words that angered the dragon king into killing everyone. This had caused the mission to fail spectacularly.
