THE GOD EATER

Because of how unjust the whole experience was instead of being cowed into submission, his determination to gain his freedom has only intensified. On the surface, he appeared to be calm and docile. But inwardly, he was ready to burn the sect down at the earliest chance he got.

He was thinking about how he would destroy the sect and torture the founder of the sect for all of eternity on his way to the sect elder’s meeting.

The meeting had been going on for a while now, so he was definitely late to it. But he didn’t care about being late to a meeting that could affect the future of the sect.

At this point, he couldn’t care about the fate of the sect when all that he wanted was to destroy the sect with his bare hands. Not even the fact that he held four Divine Positions and would have a lot of voting power made him care about the meeting.

The only thing he considered doing in the meeting was to use his voting power to sabotage the sect. If not for the fact that he didn’t want to appear rebellious so soon to the sect spirit, he would have been eager to vote for detrimental policies.

He was on his way to the sect elder’s meeting when he received a message that struck him out of the blue. The message was from the sect, but unlike other messages that he had received from the sect for most of his life, this one made him happy.

The message said, ”From now on, the sect is to prepare for war. The Myriad Phenomenon Sect, the Martial Body Sect, and the Sword Way Sect have all decided to go to war against us. Our only ally in the Blessed Heaven World is the Four Directions Sect.”

When he saw this message, his eyes widened in surprise. Then his lips wanted to spread in delight.

He was very happy, and he wanted to show it. But then his back stung from where a hot metal whip had been used to tear his flesh open. So his lips stiffened, and the growing smile died there before it could manifest.

Instead of smiling and laughing, he had to put on a grave expression on his face. For fear of punishment, he had to appear as if this was devastating news that he wished he hadn’t heard.

But deep down, his joy couldn’t be subdued. In his heart, he cheered as he thought, ’Truly, the heavens have eyes. It seems I might yet be able to watch the sect pay for all the crimes it has committed against me.’

The news he just heard had established the possibility that the sect might be destroyed. The destruction of the sect is likely to mean his death, but he didn’t care at this point.

In fact, he was looking forward to the destruction of the sect so that when he dies and reincarnates, he wouldn’t have to be a member of the Nexus of Truth Sect anymore. Even if he has to give up his Divine Positions, this is a price he is willing to pay for his freedom.

With his knowledge and experience, he is sure that without the shackles placed on him by the sect, he will be able to return to his rank 8 cultivation and even advance to rank 9 or beyond. So he is very much looking forward to the destruction of the sect.

But after the initial joy, he became a little confused when he thought about the matter for a few seconds.

He thought to himself, saying, ’Why would they go to war now? Could it be because we lost most of the divine beings of one pathway, and now there is only one rank 8 cultivator?`

Then he shook his head as he thought, ’That shouldn’t be the case, right? All of these losses are only in the Blessed Heaven World. There are other worlds in the Sea of Worlds with the Nexus of Truth Sect. So the loss of the Shadow Alliance shouldn’t affect us too much.’

’However, let’s say I’m wrong. Let’s say the Nexus of Truth Sect is weaker than I estimate. Or let’s say there is a compelling reason to go to war with us or a powerful benefit to be gained from the war that I don’t know about, how large will this war be?’

’Will this war be limited to the Blessed Heaven World or the entire Sea of Worlds? Will the other sects be involved? And does the reason why Shadow Clone died have something to do with the war? Is that why I’ve been ordered not to talk about it?’

’What are they fighting for anyway? Is it to destroy the Nexus of Truth Sect here in the Blessed Heaven World or throughout the Sea of World? Will our Dao Lord be killed?’

After asking himself this series of questions, he thought that was all the questions he had to ask. But then he remembered one more thing that left him absolutely confused.

So he said inwardly, ’Forget the war. Let’s talk about why our only ally is the Four Directions Sect.’

’Why would the Four Directions Sect help us in any way? Aren’t they everyone’s enemy? We’ve been at loggerheads with them for so long, so why would they take our side in this?’

He ran his hand through his long, flowing white hair as he thought, ’I mean, it is already weird that the Myriad Phenomenon Sect, which has always been our ally in the Blessed Heaven World, turned against us to fight us. But then, the Four Directions Sect, the rabid dog that’s always attacking everyone, decided not to go along with everyone and decided to join us in attacking the others.’

Then his eyes narrowed in remembrance as he thought, ’Come to think of it, wasn’t that thief supposed to be a giant of the Martial Body Sect?’
