THE GOD EATER

In fact, he felt proud and carefree for being a dragon. If not for the mark in his flesh burning him, everything would be perfect.

This mark was similar to the tracking mark that he used on others. It had always been a part of his body, but he was only becoming aware of it now.

The mark had transformed into a hook for some reason. Then something was pulling the hook from the sky.

Like a fish, he was pulled into the sky by the hook. And like a fish, he was powerless to resist. He could only flail around in futility.

This was because the mark had stripped him of his strength. The mark made it impossible for him to mobilize his strength. So when the large hand reached down to get him, he couldn’t resist it.

He didn’t hear what had gone on between the Dao Lord and the sect spirit. No one had heard their conversation. But even without this knowledge, he knew that what he was experiencing was very bad.

He thought that it was a bad idea to let things continue like this. But even though he could use the Devouring Ability to remove the mark, he decided that it was safer to leave.

He wanted to return to a time when a Dao Lord didn’t have their eyes on him. But even before the Rewind Metac was activated, the Dao Lord in the sky knew that it was going to be activated. So the Dao Lord stopped holding back.

The large hand in the sky turned into black chains that rushed down to bind his body. Then the black chains began crushing his body.

As soon as the black chains ensnared him, all of his power was sealed. He couldn’t even move his body to make futile resistance.

The black chains caused him to stiffen. His mind was also forced to slow down to a crawl, and every Metac became unable to be activated.

Despite all of these suppressions, Fenrir was still able to activate the Rewind Metac. So Fenrir could still escape.

In the bid to stop him, the black chains crushed his body and rushed into his Cave Heaven. Then they crashed into the core of his Cave Heaven to grab Fenrir.

Unfortunately, he was still able to enter the River of Time before the black chains could get to him. The black chains refused to give up and followed him into the River of Time.

His heart tightened when the black chains surged after him into the River of Time. They were like black tentacles trying to grab him.

The black chains were clearly very powerful. If they so much as touch him, he would be done for.

But the black chains couldn’t lock onto him as the sword light could. They could only search in his general direction. So even though his speed was slow, the black chains quickly became lost in the deluge of events in the River of Time.

After the black chains disappeared from sight, he sighed in relief. Then he said, ”Why am I slow anyway?”

For the first time since he acquired the Rewind Metac, the speed of the Rewind Metac was slow. It was easy to figure out why since he looked like an elephant riding a horse.

When he saw this, he became amused. So he chuckled and said, ”No wonder. I guess it is a bit too much to ask a rank 6 Divine Metac to carry a rank 9 behemoth like me.”

He was joking, but this situation was very serious. The Rewind Metac was actually at risk of breaking apart and leaving him stranded in the Rive of Time because of the strain.

The safe thing to do would be to deactivate the Rewind Metac as soon as possible. But he didn’t want to return to a time when the Divine Position of the Four Directions Sect was still in his Cave Heaven.

In fact, he didn’t want to return to any period of time when he was a member of the Four Directions Sect. So he had the Rewind Metac endure for a while longer.

As the Rewind Metac took upstream the River of Time, he thought back to what had just happened to him in the Blessed Heaven World.

When he remembered his new body and the outcome of his clash with the colossal black hand, he grinned and said, ”It seems it worked. I must have advanced to rank 9.”

”My power didn’t have anything to do with having a Supreme Metac, though. I wonder why that was the case.”

Then he shrugged and said, ”No matter. I will find out along the way. What I should do now is decide what to do next.”

”It goes without saying that my next step is advancing to rank 10 and becoming a Dao Lord. I might be able to do that by eating a Dao Lord, but I am nowhere strong enough for that. So I need to acquire strength.”

”I could also find a way to become a Dao Lord organically, as the previous Dao Lord did. Which means I need to acquire certain privileged information from people who know how to become Dao Lords.”

”Ideally, Slav will be the best source of information. But if I can’t get to him, I can target the weaker Dao Lords of the other sects. If I can acquire information from them, that will be good. If not, I can also work towards eating them.”

While he was planning, he finally reached the end of the road. So the Rewind Metac brought him down from the River of Time into the physical world.

This was the moment he awakened his Energy Well. He was standing in a formation with 99 other kids in the awakening room.

As soon as Fenrir from the future descended into his body, his body began to transform. A spark lit up within Fenrir that set his lifespan ablaze. So his lifespan became fuel that turned the spark into a flame.
