THE GOD EATER

When he reincarnated, his mother and father were strangers to him. He had already lived a life before his death and had lost the people he cared for that former life, so didn’t want to be emotionally attached to them and have any reason to do so.

Especially since his new family could be accidentally killed or intentionally beaten to death by one of their masters. The loss of his previous family was still fresh and he didn’t want to go through something like that so soon. Besides, it wasn’t as if he could easily replace what he lost for some strangers he just met.

Over time, he grew closer to them. But they only became acquaintances who lived with and suffered with him in their humble abode. He found commonality in their identities as slaves that made him sympathize and empathize with them.

However, he didn’t become closer to them beyond that. This was intentional, and he did it so that he wouldn’t have to experience what his father was currently experiencing in this memory.

At that time, he stayed away from everyone emotionally so that he wouldn’t have to be in pain whenever they were in pain. He had believed that his pain was enough for him, so he didn’t want to add extra sources of pain when he was too weak to stop the painful events from happening.

When he thought about this, he chuckled inwardly and said to himself, ’At the end of the day, it paid off. If I had been attached to them, they would have dragged me down when I ran away, and Skarg threatened to kill them if I didn’t return.’

He looked sideways as his father, who was in agony, as he thought, ’If he were the one who ran away and gained his freedom, but was threatened with his family, I’m sure that he would have returned. Even if he was sure that Skarg would still kill them to punish him for escaping, he would still return for the slim chance to save his family.’

’This is the shackle of familiar and emotional attachment. I am not sure which is worse, emotional attachments or the weakness of strength in preventing one from attaining freedom. What I do know is that I would rather tackle one than be held down by the two of them.’

Then he sighed and thought, ’I don’t dare to say it is smarter to let go of all emotional weights and attachments on the path of freedom. But I am sure that it is more efficient to cast off everything that can be used against you.’

’Besides, even in my limited capacity for power, I am still strong enough to cast off the weights of emotional attachments. If I can’t do that now that I’m weak, then I have no business seeking freedom. Without doing so, I won’t be sincere enough in trying to be free of every burden and shackles.’

So, unlike his father, he didn’t care that his mother was being raped. Back then, he also hadn’t cared that his mother became pregnant after this and gave birth to a girl.

He hadn’t cared that his second sister might have been a bastard. In fact, he hadn’t cared so much that he treated his second sister differently from his first sister. They were both the same to him. They were unfortunate slaves like him.

So even though this memory wasn’t pleasant to him, this part wasn’t the part he hated and tried to forget. The worst part of this memory didn’t come until later.

After a few minutes of grunts, moans, crying, and sobbing, the activity within the shack was done. Then the slave manager in question came out of the house.

The man was naked when he came out of the house, so Loki could see his genitals. At that time, Loki had looked away and tried not to look at the naked man. He had looked down in order to appear subservient and submissive.

But this time, Loki had decided not to do such a thing. He took in the view of everything the man had to offer. In particular, he looked at the blood smeared all over the man’s penis. He also didn’t squirm about the idea that this blood didn’t belong to the man.

Not that the man didn’t bleed because of the violent sexual engagement that just occurred within the shack. But his bleeding was limited to faint scratches on his face and his chest.

So it was the person whose blood on his penis came from who suffered the most in that engagement. What he had to endure was minimal and would be forgotten in a few days at most.

Compared to that, the damage that had been done to his mother was more severe and was unlikely to be forgotten for years. Even so, when the man came out, he was very angry as if he was the one who suffered the most.

He had an angry snarl on his face as he stomped over to them. Then he slapped Loki’s father in the face.

Loki’s father immediately fell to his knees, begging for mercy. The man sobbed as he said, ”Please, have mercy. Have mercy on us.”

Even though Loki didn’t want to, his body went along with his memories. He, too, fell to his knees and bowed his head as he begged for mercy.

The man seemed to calm down after they begged him for mercy, even though they had done nothing wrong. Unfortunately, this wouldn’t be enough to quench the anger in his heart.

Instead of letting them go, the man sneered and said, ”You have a fiery wife, huh? She doesn’t want to behave herself, so I will have to find a way to encourage her.”

As he spoke, he unfurled the whip in his hand and said, ”Let me show her what I will do to her precious daughter next time I come, and she misbehaves like she just did.”
