THE GOD EATER

He rubbed his chin as he thought to himself, saying ’I wonder how they make the Life Spark recover, though. I also want to know what else the Life Spark is used for.’

At this point, the battle had ended. So the cracks in the crystal shield were healing and closing up.

After the cracks in the crystal shield finished healing, he lost sight of what was going on in the medium world. Since he had seen new things that made him curious, he decided to ask his resident informant for information about Life Sparks.

He sent an avatar to ask Hammock about what he wanted to know. As usual, Hammock was very helpful.

Hammock told him that Life Sparks can be extracted with Life Fires, but the quality of the product will be dependent on the conversion efficiency of the Life Fire.

This information helped Loki to determine that the rank 7 divine being must have used an Energy Well with a size of 180 units to create his Life Fire. This is because 180/(1,000 + 180) × 100 = 15.25% conversion efficiency.

After making this calculation, he said in conclusion, “She must have doubled her Energy Well somehow. But even then, a conversion efficiency of 15.25% is the best she can do. This is just so poor compared to what Fenrir can achieve.”

He was feeling smug about what he could achieve compared to the best that other divine beings could achieve. But his pride took a hit when Hammock told him that the damage to the Life Spark could be repaired easily.

Hammock said, “The integrity of the Life Spark can be improved by adding spirit stones or world essence to the Life Spark. These two things contain lifespan, so they can easily repair the damage to the Life Spark.”

“Once the damage has been repaired, the Life Spark can be used to create new Divine Metacs. Life Sparks can be directly fused with mutated Life Abilities to create new Divine Metacs.”

This made Loki ask, saying, “What if the Life Sparks aren’t repaired at all? Can they still be used to create new Divine Metacs?”

In response to the question, Hammock nodded and said, “Yes, damaged Life Sparks can still be used to create Divine Metacs. But it is best to restore the Life Sparks back to 100% before using them to create new Divine Metacs. This is because a damaged Life Spark will reduce the chances of successfully refining the Divine Metac.”

“If a refining attempt fails, the Life Spark will be damaged again and will need more lifespan to restore. And even if the damaged Life Spark succeeds in creating a Divine Metac, the success of becoming a divine being by using that Divine Metac to light the Life Fire will be lowered.”

“This is because the damaged Life Spark in the Divine Metac will try to make up for its damage by absorbing lifespan from the host during the process of ascension. This won’t be a problem if the rank 5 cultivator has a lot of lifespan to spare.”

“But if that rank 5 cultivator doesn’t have enough lifespan to help the Life Spark heal, then they will die during the process of ascension. So it is always advised to heal a Life Spark completely before using it.”

Loki nodded in understanding and asked more questions about how the Earth god had two Divine Metacs while other world kings that he had encountered didn’t. Hammock said that this was all because the world was a medium world.

Apparently, even though world kings can’t cultivate, their worlds can grow stronger after meeting certain requirements. And when a world grows stronger, the world king will automatically become stronger too.

So, from a small world to a medium world and to a large world, the world king gets to use one Divine Metac, two Divine Metacs, and three Divine Metacs. This makes the world kings of small worlds, medium worlds, and large worlds the rough equivalent of rank 6, rank 7, and rank 8 divine beings.

Then Hammock said, “As for rank 9 beings, I guess the equivalent worlds are super worlds. But I don’t know how that will work because I don’t think super worlds like the Blessed Heaven World have world kings.”

This information enlightened him and made him say, “No wonder a rank 7 divine being was sent to subjugate that medium world.”

But then he realized something that made him frown and say, “But if world kings can grow stronger, what advantage do we divine beings have over them due to our ability to cultivate?”

Hammock was quick to say in reply, “Our advantage is that we are not restricted by anyone from growing stronger. As long as we have enough divine merit points, we can always grow stronger as divine beings, and as long as we have a divine position, we can always become divine beings.”

“In the other worlds, once there is a world king, no one else can become a divine being. And a world will have to grow before the world king becomes stronger. So it is the world that is growing stronger, not the world king.”

“Besides, the world can replace the world king at any point in time. In fact, a world can also divide the power of the world king to prioritize quantity over quality. This is not something that the Blessed Heaven World can do to us.”

But Loki still wasn’t satisfied. He grumbled inwardly, saying, ’The Blessed Heaven World might not take away our power, but the sects surely can.’

’And I’m sure that worlds don’t drain some lifespan from their world kings every few years. What the world does is to give its world kings some lifespan to use. At most, the world will stop providing the world king with more lifespan to use. They don’t employ tactics called life-leech to rip off their world kings.’

He was still unsatisfied with this explanation, but he didn’t press the issue any further. It wasn’t as if complaining was going to solve anything.
