The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Chapter 522: Chapter 297: Complicated Love Life

At this moment, Zhang Kun was drinking tea in his office.

He didn’t take the woman’s death case in his jurisdiction to heart.

After all, in his view, such incidents were not uncommon in the area, and he had seen it all before.

But just as he finished one cup of tea and was about to make a second, his phone suddenly rang.

He glanced at the screen and saw that the caller was Li Jian.

His mouth twitched slightly, thinking it might be time to notify the family to deal with the body and close the case.

For this death incident that happened during his shift, he wanted to resolve it quickly so that he could plan his upcoming holiday.

”Hello, Mr. Li, please advise.”

On the other end, Li Jian chuckled and said, ”Mr. Zhang, it’s not so much advice as a work discussion.”

”Regarding the abnormal death that occurred in your area today, our criminal police team is taking it very seriously. We have already conducted a thorough scene investigation and forensic autopsy on the body.”

”After the autopsy, it has been determined that the cause of death was mechanical asphyxia, specifically from smothering the nose and mouth.”

”What?”

”Mechanical asphyxia?”

In an instant, Zhang Kun stood up from the chair next to the desk.

Although he had worked at the grassroots level for many years, he knew enough about criminal investigation to understand that mechanical asphyxia was almost certainly a murder case.

After calming himself a bit, Zhang Kun asked, ”Mr. Li, is this conclusion reliable?”

He was just probing and did not express his true thoughts.

Because in Zhang Kun’s view, there were no suspicious circumstances at all.

”Reliable! Absolutely reliable!”

”Importantly, I was present during the body examination process.”

”The mucous membrane inside the deceased’s mouth was damaged, and there was petechial hemorrhage on multiple internal organs — these are undeniable facts.”

”Even as an outsider, I know these are characteristic signs of mechanical asphyxia!”

After a slight pause, Li Jian said solemnly, ”

I’m calling you today mainly to hope that you will pay more attention and actively cooperate with the work of the task force leader, Jiang An.”

”Leader? Jiang An is the leader of the task force?”

Once again, Zhang Kun was stunned.

At this moment, the image of Jiang An appeared in his mind.

Someone who looks so young and inexperienced — can he really be the leader of a task force?

Noticing the silence from the other side, Li Jian urged, ”Mr. Zhang, we’ve been through this.”

”As the saying goes, capability is not bound by age. Jiang An has unique insights into investigation and forensic examination.”

”This appointment as the task force leader is based on the consideration of solving the case, and we must support his work.”

”Of course, these are Mr. Ma’s exact words.”

”Yes, yes, absolutely.”

Zhang Kun on the other end quickly nodded, his palms sweaty.

More than who the task force leader is, he is actually more concerned about how this case could have become a homicide.

After a long pause, Zhang Kun asked, ”Mr. Li, the conclusion of this case is extremely crucial!”

”I’ve worked in the jurisdiction for a long time, and there have been more than one abnormal death incidents.”

”But from my personal perspective, we found her electric bike on the bridge, and initially, we understood that this woman was under a lot of life pressure.”

”On preliminary check, she had two or three million in debt outside her home, which could completely be a motive for her suicide.”

”If it was murder, who would ride the electric bike to that place?”

After listening, Li Jian chuckled and said, ”Mr. Zhang, I don’t want to comment on your viewpoint.”

”However, I want to stick to a principle, which is to leave professional matters to professional people.”

”In terms of grassroots governance and street control, you are definitely better than us.”

”But in investigating and solving crimes, we need to be a bit more professional.”

”Since I have told you over the phone that this is a homicide case, then there’s no need to discuss its nature further.”

”You just need to cooperate well with Team Leader Jiang An.”

Upon hearing this, Zhang Kun quickly nodded: ”Yes, yes, Mr. Li, you’re right.”

After hanging up the phone, his head buzzed, feeling like he was on a roller coaster, and now his mood had plummeted.

He had originally hoped to finish the case quickly and go on vacation.

The holiday was just a few days away, and now this case had delayed him.

In Zhang Kun’s view, homicide cases are not solved in one or two, or three days.

Sometimes, they even take months. Thinking of this, he shook his head helplessly.

He then turned his head and asked, ”Who’s on duty today?”

...

Meanwhile, on the bridge where the body was found, the camera clicked away.

Zhang Yean asked, ”Little brother, have you photographed the traces?”

”Do you need me to take the pictures myself?”

Jiang An shook his head and said, ”Senior sister, forget it, this place is quite dangerous; it’s more appropriate for me to do it.”

Wang smiled wryly and said, ”Big brother, hurry up; my arms are about to strain.”

”The key is, we are like grasshoppers tied to a rope right now.”

”If you fall, I can’t just watch you fall; I’d probably have to go down with you.”

Zhang Yean looked at the two of them and smiled.

”Then you two must work together in harmony; this is called sharing weal and woe.”
