The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Chapter 514: Chapter 293: Why Is There So Little Bleeding From This Corpse?

After hanging up the phone, Li Jian’s expression was very grave.

He turned his head and looked, and everyone was clapping enthusiastically.

After hesitating for a minute, he still shook his head and walked over.

This is how the work of a detective is; often many events occur unexpectedly.

What seems like a quiet afternoon actually harbors the occurrence of a case.

However, he briefly thought through the case in his mind.

At present, this case doesn’t seem complicated; it’s likely just a suicide.

Chief Zhang Kun had been very clear on the phone, indicating it’s probably not a big issue.

The pressures of modern life are significant, and this kind of incident isn’t uncommon. The key is the person’s electric scooter is still on the bridge.

With this in mind, Captain Li Jian suddenly felt relieved.

As long as it’s not a criminal case, the follow-up won’t be too troublesome.

Then, he walked over to Mr. Ma, smiling, and said, ”Mr. Ma! Thanks for the encouragement earlier.”

”Look, the applause hasn’t even stopped yet, and our detective team already has a new case.”

Upon hearing this, Mr. Ma’s face darkened, and he promptly asked, ”What? Another case?”

Li Jian nodded: ”Just now, Zhang Kun, the chief of Dongjiang Police Station, called to say a rural woman in their jurisdiction had jumped into the river and committed suicide, and we should go take a look.”

Mr. Ma nodded after hearing this: ”Is the nature of the suicide clear?”

”For now, it’s quite likely so; the person’s motorcycle is still on the bridge.”

Mr. Ma nodded: ”No matter what, we must approach this matter with caution.”

”If it’s a suicide, we have to clarify the whole process of it, and especially ensure we console the family.”

”In rural areas, such situations of ’white-haired people sending off the black-haired people’ require our utmost attention to avoid causing any public outrage.

”Moreover, if there are any doubts, we must investigate thoroughly without leniency.”

”Yes, Mr. Ma.”

After speaking, Mr. Ma glanced over at Jiang An.

He too came from the criminal investigation team, so he naturally knows that a leader of the detective team must be bold and authoritative.

And this boldness and authority are not merely spoken about or built through drinking with teammates.

It must come from genuine skills.

As for this case, having heard Captain Li Jian earlier, it shouldn’t be too complex.

Then, Mr. Ma said, ”Mr. Li, I suggest that this case of unusual death be handled by Deputy Captain Jiang An.”

With just one sentence, Captain Li Jian immediately understood.

He nodded and said, ”Mr. Ma, I think that’s also very appropriate.”

”As the youngest leadership cadre of the detective team, Jiang An should go out and meet more of the police chiefs around Jiangcheng for better cooperation in the future.”

”Indeed, that’s what I think too.”

Upon hearing this, Jiang An immediately stood at attention with feet together.

He saluted: ”Thank you, Mr. Ma, for the recommendation and Captain for the nurturing.”

Subsequently, Captain Li Jian took two steps forward and gently patted Jiang An’s shoulder.

”From the current point of view, it’s not complicated; it’s highly likely suicide.”

”In such rural areas, the probability of homicide is low; the local customs are generally quite simple.”

”Yes, if there’s new information, I’ll definitely report it to you promptly.”

Then, Captain Li Jian said: ”Zhang Yean, Wan, and Li Biao, you three will go with Mr. Jiang to the scene.

”Wan and Zhang Yean are responsible for scene investigation, and Li Biao and Wan will conduct inquiries around.”

In an instant, the four of them set off in the car.

minutes later, the black business vehicle slowly entered Dongjiang’s jurisdiction.

A prominent yellow caution tape tightly encircled the middle of the bridge.

Inside the caution tape stood a solitary black electric scooter.

Five uniformed officers were maintaining order, and many early-rising villagers had gathered around, craning their necks to look.

As soon as the vehicle stopped, Jiang An and the other three quickly got out.

Chief Zhang Kun, who had been waiting for some time, immediately came up, his eyes eagerly fixed on Li Biao.

As old schoolmates, Zhang Kun seemed especially warm upon seeing his old friend.

He quickly walked over and held Li Biao’s hand: ”Biao! I never thought you would personally come this time to guide our work.

”This matter is actually quite simple, let’s handle it quickly, and later back at the station, we can have a proper cup of tea.”

”Tonight, I’m the host, and I’ll make sure everything is arranged perfectly!”

Upon hearing this, Li Biao immediately felt on edge, beads of sweat forming on his forehead.

Glancing sideways at Jiang An, he let out an awkward laugh: ”There’s plenty of time for us old friends; next time I’ll properly taste the fresh fish from your Dongjiang River and have a good drink.”

”But today...” he paused, lowering his voice unconsciously, ”mainly we’re here to assist the team in investigating the case.”

”No problem! Leave it to me!”

Zhang Kun assured, pounding his chest, ”Later, you can report to Captain Li Jian directly; this case is most likely a suicide.”

”In a bit, we’ll find the deceased’s family to understand the situation, to see if there’s a suicide note, then the evidence chain will be complete.”

Hearing this, Li Biao’s face changed suddenly, and he promptly clapped his hands to interrupt: ”This is actually our team leader for this mission — Jiang An, the newly appointed deputy captain of the detective team.”

Before the words were even finished, Zhang Kun’s expression instantly froze.

Instantly, his face flushed bright red, as if he had been publicly slapped.

Zhang Kun stood awkwardly on the spot, his throat tightened: ”This...this...”

Jiang An, however, remained calm and extended his hand: ”Hello, Chief Zhang, I’m Jiang An from the criminal investigation team.”
