The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Chapter 520: Chapter 296: Senior Sister, I’ve Made an Important Discovery!

After a brief silence, Captain Li Jian furrowed his brow, lost in thought about the case.

He slowly raised his head, his sharp gaze directed at the clothing placed on the forensic autopsy table.

He opened his mouth and asked, ”Didn’t I remember the victim’s clothes were relatively intact?”

Saying this, he reached out to pick up the evidence bag, carefully examining the clothing inside.

Jiang An quickly stepped up to the autopsy table, nodding in response, ”Yes.”

”When the body was discovered at the initial scene, we specifically examined the clothes of the deceased.”

He pointed to the tags on the clothes and continued, ”The victim’s clothes were worn very completely.”

”Whether it was the top or the bottom, even his shoes were worn properly.”

”What about the underwear?”

Captain Li Jian suddenly put down the evidence bag and directly asked, his eyes fixed on Jiang An.

Jiang An hesitated slightly, then calmly replied, ”The underwear was also in a relatively normal position.”

”That being said, there should not be a possibility of the victim being sexually assaulted.”

Jiang An further added, ”From our current examination of the clothes and lower body, no signs of external force were found.”

Upon hearing this, Li Jian nodded slightly, crossing his arms and pacing back and forth in the autopsy room, once again deep in thought.

At that moment, Zhang Yean put down her notebook, frowning as she pondered, ”The victim’s attire was intact, and the money was all there.”

”Moreover, there were no signs of sexual assault on the victim.”

”So, why was he killed?”

Captain Li Jian touched his chin, a face full of confusion.

Wan quickly stepped forward, flipping open his notebook, ”We did a preliminary scan of the victim’s interpersonal relationships on the scene.”

He pointed to the contents of the notebook, ”The victim’s husband works out of town all year round, leaving her to raise two kids alone; one is in fourth grade and the other in the first year of middle school, living a rather difficult life.”

”Was there any extramarital affair?”

Captain Li Jian abruptly stopped, turned, and looked directly at Wan.

Wan spread his hands somewhat helplessly and said, ”The time for investigation was a bit short, and we didn’t ask such details on the scene.”

Li Jian nodded, walked to the whiteboard, took up a marker, writing as he spoke, ”This is a point of focus.”

”In homicide cases within rural areas, we must pay close attention to such extramarital affairs.”

”Given her long-term long-distance marriage, emotional conflicts are highly possible.”

”I think investigating the status of her husband is also an essential aspect going forward.”

”Yes, Mr. Li.”

Zhang Yean also said, ”Also, today at the scene, the family was particularly opposed to our further examination of the body.”

”This kind of ’protesting too much’ feeling, I think, should also catch our attention.”

”That makes sense, it’s also an important point.”

Li Jian went over and patted Jiang An on the shoulder, ”This case, I suppose only you can take full charge.”

”As our new leader in the criminal investigation team, you must achieve a certain level of success, and this is a perfect opportunity.”

Jiang An raised his head, smiling as he replied, ”Captain, without you leading us ahead, I feel a lot of pressure, haha.”

”What pressure is there?”

Li Jian laughed heartily, vigorously patting Jiang An’s back.

”I think you’re already excellent.”

”Furthermore, our criminal investigation team is already a combat-ready team; having or not having an old-timer like me makes no difference.”

”You’re not old at all!”

Zhang Yean playfully winked, ”It’s said ’a man is at his prime at forty-one,’ you’re just a bud.”

Forty minutes later, the criminal investigation meeting was held, with Mr. Ma personally presiding over the meeting.

Before the meeting, he listened to Captain Li Jian’s report, getting a preliminary understanding of the situation.

Sitting in the conference room, Mr. Ma cleared his throat and glanced around, saying, ”I just heard that a female body was found today, and her identity is now relatively clear.”

”After the scene investigation by Deputy Captain Jiang An, some peculiarities were indeed discovered, which I believe is a good thing.”

Mr. Ma tapped his finger on the table, emphasizing, ”The truth of a case is guided by countless issues.”

”This highly responsible attitude towards the body and the case deserves our praise and recognition.”

He paused, his gaze sweeping over each person present.

”Of course, I also heard that at the scene, the family raised some resistance and questions about our comprehensive examination work by the police.”

”However, Deputy Captain Jiang An still insisted on his viewpoint on site, standing firm on his ground.”

”This point is also very good!”

Then Mr. Ma said, ”Since Captain Jiang An has been quite involved and is well-versed in this case from the start.”

”I think we should establish a special task force for this case, with Jiang An as the team leader.”

As soon as he finished speaking, Mr. Ma’s gaze turned to Jiang An.

”Comrade Jiang An, this time you must not let down the expectations of the municipal Party committee.”

Jiang An immediately stood up, raised his right hand in salute, his voice clear and loud, ”Understood! Mr. Ma, I will remember my mission and live up to the trust!”

”Good!”

Mr. Ma nodded with satisfaction, ”Even though the case currently has relatively few clues.”

”I think it’s still necessary to set a deadline for solving it.”

He touched his chin in thought, ”Comrade Jiang An, how long do you think would be appropriate for solving this case?”

”Would one week be sufficient?”

Jiang An’s mouth twitched as he took a deep breath, straightened his back, and said, ”Mr. Ma, this is my first independently handled case since becoming the deputy captain of the criminal investigation team.”
