The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Chapter 521: Chapter 296: Senior Sister, I’ve Made an Important Discovery!

”I’ve set a higher standard for myself, and that is to solve the case within three days!”

”Three days?”

Immediately, everyone attending turned their gaze to Jiang An.

Some people opened their mouths in surprise.

Some unconsciously sat up straight.

...

One day is 24 hours, so three days are only 72 hours.

Solving a murder case within 72 hours??

This is almost unimaginable.

Even the most elite investigative agencies wouldn’t dare to set a goal of solving an unsolved murder within 72 hours.

Moreover!

The victim’s social relationships are unclear!

The motive for the murder is unclear!

The suspect is unclear!

Even the primary crime scene is unclear!

How can this case be solved?

As soon as the words were spoken, Wang, sitting next to him, gently tugged Jiang An’s sleeve, signaling him to tone it down.

But Jiang An paid no attention; he placed his hands on the table and said, ”I’m giving myself three days to catch the murderer within 72 hours!”

His voice echoed in the conference room.

Upon hearing this, Mr. Ma and Li Jian both looked serious.

Mr. Ma unconsciously touched his forehead, while Li Jian furrowed his brows deeply.

This made them momentarily unsure of how to respond.

If they agreed, the pressure would be immense;

If they disagreed, would it demotivate the other party?

After weighing it in his mind for a moment, Mr. Ma declared, ”Alright!”

Our investigative team is indeed full of talent.”

He forced a smile: ”Comrade Jiang An, as the youngest officer in our investigative team, and also our youngest leader, has courage, drive, goals, and confidence.”

”Let’s hope he can solve the case soon and let the truth come to light sooner.”

”Come on, let’s all give him a round of applause!”

”Wishing Captain Jiang An an early resolution of this case.”

Instantly, the room was filled with enthusiastic applause.

However, aside from amazement, worry was the predominant expression in everyone’s eyes.

Some people even whispered to each other, ”Truly, the newborn calf is unafraid of the tiger.”

”In this case, with the primary scene unclear, it’s impossible to find crime traces.”

”Hoping to solve the case in such a short time is purely a fantasy.”

...

After the meeting ended, Captain Li Jian intentionally slowed down and walked beside Jiang An, lowering his voice, ”Brother, you spoke pretty boldly in there.”

However, Jiang An grinned, ”Captain, it’s nothing.”

”I believe investigation and case-solving require a bit of impetus and pressure.”

He lifted his head, his eyes glimmering with confidence: ”Though this case is currently uncertain, I already have a complete method for solving it in my mind.”

”A complete method for solving the crime?”

Li Jian leaned forward, curious, ”Do tell.”

Jiang An smiled, ”I won’t say now; otherwise, you’ll accuse me of bragging.”

He cheekily blinked, ”Just like how successful people only talk about experiences while failures are always lessons.”

”If I haven’t succeeded, then all I would say is just empty talk.”

”Once the case is solved, I’ll share.”

With that, Jiang An walked off briskly, the sound of his shoes on the floor crisp and clear.

Li Jian stood in place, watching Jiang An’s retreating figure and smiled.

Suddenly, he realized this young man in front of him bore a shadow of his younger self.

Back then, he too was driven by this fearless youthful energy, achieving great feats in criminal investigation.

After a little thought, Li Jian smiled again and suddenly found himself looking forward to this young man’s future.

After leaving the conference room, Jiang An gathered all the team members of the special task force for a brief meeting.

Jiang An stood at the whiteboard, tapping it with a pen to signal everyone to settle down: ”Thank you all for supporting my work.”

He bowed deeply, then straightened his back: ”This case demands swift resolution; time is tight, and the task is heavy.”

”I’ve already made a commitment in the meeting to solve the case within 72 hours.”

Then, sweeping his gaze over everyone: ”We must revitalize our spirits and dive into work with utmost enthusiasm.”

”I would like to make the following arrangements for the upcoming work.”

”Firstly, group one will retrieve surveillance recordings within a two-kilometer radius around where the body was found, to potentially identify suspicious individuals during the crime timeframe.”

”I believe that the bridge location where we found the body might be the dumping ground. Hence, if it’s a dumping ground, how did the killer transport the body there? And how was the e-bike placed near the body? We need to ponder over this point.”

”The second group will investigate the victim’s social circle, particularly her romantic relationships, emphasizing both marital and extramarital affairs.”

Jiang An emphasized: ”Simultaneously, do not overlook her maternal family, as their reaction at the scene was slightly agitated. We should explore if there’s more to this.”

Finally, he said solemnly: ”The third group should strengthen the crime scene examination, focusing on finding any suspicious traces in the surrounding area.”

”We must seize every moment to find the primary crime scene, as any physical evidence will predominantly exist at the primary scene.”

He straightened up, his voice loud and clear: ”Do you understand?”

Everyone responded in unison: ”Understood!”

Thereafter, everyone quickly exited the conference room, their footsteps hurried and determined.

Thirty minutes later, Jiang An returned to the bridge with the investigative team.

Despite being a leader, he firmly believed that scene investigation was the source of all evidence traces and was a critical path to accurate evidence collection.

Standing on the bridge, he looked around and found that the surrounding two kilometers were expansive plains.

At this moment, standing beside him were Wan and Zhang Yean.

”Senior Brother, Senior Sister!”

Jiang An suddenly spoke, pointing to the distant fields, ”Why do you think the killer chose to dump the body here?”

Zhang Yean and Wan exchanged glances and replied in unison: ”Because he knows this place well.”

”Precisely.”

Jiang An nodded, ”The killer is very familiar with this place because, on the other side of the bridge, there is deep water.”

”If someone is thrown over the other side, they wouldn’t die under normal circumstances.”

Within a minute, Jiang An was directly above where the body was found on the bridge and leaned over to carefully observe the outer edge of the bridge.

He nearly had half his body hanging out over the railing.

”Senior Sister, has this place been examined?”

Zhang Yean quickly walked over, worryingly tugging at Jiang An’s sleeve.

”It’s been examined, and there are some scraping marks.”

She pointed to several marks on the railing, ”However, you know this is a public place. Even if there are scraping marks, they don’t necessarily indicate that they were left by the murderer.”

As soon as the words fell, Jiang An suddenly reached out: ”Senior Brother, pull me back!”

”Pull you back?”

”What do you mean?”

Seeing Jiang An leaning outward, Wan said nervously: ”Brother, don’t be impulsive.”

”You’re still young, having just become a leader, your future is very promising!”

”Haha, how could I possibly jump off the bridge?”

”I’m just checking if there are any traces on the inner edge.”

”Earlier, Senior Sister mentioned many people lean on the outside edge, but the outer edge nearer to the water might have traces since it’s usually inaccessible.”

”Oh, I see.”

Zhang Yean smiled and nodded, ”I find your logical thinking very strong, able to deduce from one instance, haha!”

”I learned it all from Senior Sister.”

”Without Senior Sister’s enlightenment, it wouldn’t have crossed my mind.”

Suddenly, as Jiang An leaned in to inspect the inner edge, he spotted some suspicious markings on the exterior eyepiece.

Jiang An said, ”Senior Sister, could you loan me the camera? I’ve found an important trace.”
