Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 895: Chapter 896: Maneuvering in Crisis

”My life is in your hands; worrying is useless.” An Hao had calmed down a lot compared to the initial panic she felt when she was first taken.

Clearly, whatever she did now was of no use. The only and most important thing she could do was to understand this person, analyze his psyche, to see how she could ensure her own safety in this dangerous situation.

Luo Gang was silent once again.

He didn’t speak, the more he said, the more he would reveal. The woman before him was quite cunning, trying to dig out useful information from his scarce words.

”From the way you look at me, I can draw the following conclusions. There’s no hatred in your eyes towards me, which proves we don’t know each other, and that I haven’t offended you. You’ve kidnapped me but have kept silent the entire time, without any intent to harm me. It looks like you’re waiting for someone or something to happen. This could also mean that you’re acting under someone else’s orders, and that you personally have no grudge against me,” An Hao analyzed as she spoke, watching his subtle movements closely.

Over the years, working with Qin Jian, she had learned a thing or two.

Luo Gang pushed his duckbill cap down even further, hiding his eyebrows and eyes, leaving only half of his face visible.

The eyes are the windows to the soul, the most likely place to betray one’s innermost secrets.

He was well aware of this.

He hated having his thoughts read by others!

”If I’m not wrong, lately, I’ve only had conflicts with two people!” An Hao paused deliberately after saying this, then slowly uttered the first name, ”Xin Ni!”

Luo Gang’s face remained expressionless, his hands still fiddling with the folding knife.

Clearly, Xin Ni could be ruled out.

”Cheng Yu!” An Hao said the second name. Luo Gang’s hand, spinning the folding knife, paused slightly—a detail that An Hao caught clearly. She could now be sure, ”It’s Cheng Yu. She’s the one who had you kidnap me.”

Cheng Yu’s goal was Qin Jian; if An Hao hadn’t guessed wrong, Cheng Yu must now be using this method to blackmail Qin Jian into meeting with her.

What could her motive be for wanting to see Qin Jian?

An Hao couldn’t guess at the moment but hoped that Qin Jian wouldn’t fall for Cheng Yu’s trick.

Having figured out it was Cheng Yu, An Hao hoped that the man would give her some sort of response.

But the man in front of her really had the patience of a saint, unwilling to utter an extra word.

”What’s your relationship with Cheng Yu?” An Hao pressed on with the question.

Luo Gang was finally annoyed by her questioning. The folding knife traced a circle around her fingertips, then whooshed out, narrowly grazing An Hao’s cheek, and landed on the door panel.

An Hao’s pupils contracted in fear, and her heart skipped a beat for three seconds.

Luo Gang caught the fear that flickered in her eyes and said slowly, ”You have so many questions! Since you’re so good at guessing, just keep guessing then.”

At the fall of his words, An Hao took a deep breath of cold air and really started guessing.

”Since you’re willing to obey Cheng Yu and kidnap me, you must be friends with Cheng Yu?” An Hao mumbled to herself, ”If you’re friends, then you should have stopped Cheng Yu from doing something so foolish... Or is it that you’re hired help, in a relationship of use and being used?”

Seeing Luo Gang’s increasingly calm expression, An Hao knew she hadn’t guessed correctly.

”Are you so obedient because you like Cheng Yu?” In fact, this answer was what An Hao had wanted to say all along.

It was not about deduction but intuition.

Luo Gang neither confirmed nor denied it.

He just kept his head down and started checking his watch more and more frequently.
