Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 870: Chapter 870 Infringement of the Right to Personal Liberty

”Alright then!”

”Fine, Chief of Staff, let’s leave it at that for now. See you tomorrow!” Gu Shuangshuang quickly hung up the phone.

An Hao, groggy, entered the living room and asked Qin Jian, ”Was that Shuangshuang’s call?”

”Yes, she said she wants us to pick her up at the station tomorrow!” After conveying the message on her behalf, Qin Jian added, ”I heard her speaking in hushed tones.”

”She must be under house arrest by her mother again!” An Hao laughed helplessly. ”Her mom is a bit too mercenary! And Gu Shuangshuang is set on being with Tian Niuniu. So, it’s a bit troublesome...”

”I don’t see anything wrong with Tian Niu!” In Qin Jian’s eyes, his own troops are always the best. ”I actually have a good feeling about them.”

”Hope Shuangshuang can get her wish!”

............

On the other side, just as Gu Shuangshuang had put down the phone, she was caught in the act by Duan Aihua.

”Thinking of running away again?”

”And you eavesdropping on someone else’s conversation, isn’t that unethical?” Gu Shuangshuang protested unhappily. ”You already agreed to let me date Tian Niu, but you won’t let me see him! Does this look like a relationship to you?”

”A young, unmarried girl running around outside all the time! Is that proper? Always wanting to see Tian Niu! If you get too far from me, I won’t be able to see what you’re up to, right?” Duan Aihua furrowed her brows and scolded Gu Shuangshuang.

”Mom! What are you saying? How can you trust me so little?”

”I don’t trust you, nor do I trust that boy!” Duan Aihua glared at Gu Shuangshuang. ”This vacation, don’t even think about going anywhere. Stay home like a good girl!”

”I protest! This is a violation of my personal freedom!”

”Protest denied! Even if I violate your personal freedom, what can you do about me?”

The mother and daughter were on the verge of arguing again!

Li Zhi couldn’t stand it anymore and quickly came out to mediate.

”Auntie Duan! Please calm down! Shuangshuang is in the throes of adolescence, a time of rebellion! In such a situation, you should guide her, not just block her every move!”

”Do you see how she is? Does she need guidance? Will she listen to anything I say? Stubborn as a mule!” Duan Aihua felt helpless with Gu Shuangshuang, a daughter with a strong personality, and could only adopt such a tough approach.

”Leave the task of guidance to me! Before my dad left, he told me to take good care of you both. The first thing he said was to make sure you two didn’t argue or fight! I promised my dad, and I must fulfill it! Auntie, don’t worry! I’ll definitely persuade Gu Shuangshuang!” Li Zhi, with a silver tongue, managed to defuse Duan Aihua’s anger in just a few words.

She looked at Gu Shuangshuang, said nothing, and turned back to her own room.

Seeing Duan Aihua leave, Gu Shuangshuang snorted coldly and headed back to her upstairs room.

”Shuangshuang, don’t go. Let’s talk!” Li Zhi quickly called out to Gu Shuangshuang when he saw her leaving.

”I have nothing to discuss with you.” Gu Shuangshuang left him with those words and headed upstairs without looking back.

Before Gu Shuangshuang could close the door, Li Zhi managed to slip into the room.

”Shuangshuang, can’t you stop fighting with your mom?”

”Is that any of your business?” Gu Shuangshuang crossed her arms over her chest, cocked an eyebrow, and stared at Li Zhi. ”The conflict between her and me is irreconcilable, your talk is futile!”

”Auntie also has it tough, don’t we, as her children, owe her some understanding?” Li Zhi dropped his usual joking demeanor and spoke earnestly to Gu Shuangshuang.
