Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 889: Chapter 890 Blocked at the Main Entrance

She didn’t want to think too much anymore, she just needed to arrange everything for the next few days.

After succeeding, she would leave.

............

Not long after Tian Niu sent the telegram, he received a response from home.

Tian Niu’s parents asked him to take good care of Gu Shuangshuang; they would help think of a way to handle the money issue.

They told Tian Niu to put his heart at ease, as they were determined to have this daughter-in-law.

Receiving the reply made Tian Niu happy for half a day.

He had been in a very good mood these days, always speaking to the warriors with a smile on his face.

The warriors all speculated. Either the company commander had indulged in some pleasure, or some good news was on the horizon.

But this good mood didn’t last long, and soon the second telegram arrived at the unit.

Tian Niu opened the telegram and was stunned.

The telegram said that Tian Niu’s father went hunting in the mountains, hoping to get some good pelts to sell at a high price, but he accidentally fell off a cliff.

He was now in a coma and had been admitted to the hospital.

Tian Niu felt an icy chill all over, as if his blood had frozen, just like the recent ice holes.

He hurriedly asked for leave from his superiors, preparing to go back and visit his father.

Gu Shuangshuang wanted to go with him, but Tian Niu refused her, ”Shuangshuang, why don’t you go back first? Taking you back to my hometown is quite far, and the back-and-forth journey will be too exhausting for you. Moreover, I’m not sure how many days it will take for me to return. With my father being ill, I definitely won’t be able to take care of you.”

”I feel terrible about your father’s accident; after all, he’s of such an age and still has to go hunting. Your father is also my future father-in-law. Now that such a big incident has happened at home, I should also go and see. Don’t worry, I won’t distract you from taking care of me,” Gu Shuangshuang insisted on going with Tian Niu.

Tian Niu had no choice but to take her with him.

Before leaving, An Hao found out about the situation and took some money from home to give to Gu Shuangshuang, for her to use in case of an emergency.

After seeing off Gu Shuangshuang and An Hao, she didn’t go to the health clinic anymore.

During this free time at home, she cleaned up a bit and then prepared a good lunch for Qin Jian.

While she was busy, Cheng Yu was not idle either. He came alone to the entrance of the military base.

She planned to leave tomorrow, so this matter must be dealt with today.

As soon as she entered the gate, she was stopped by the sentry: ”Please stop. This is a military area; you can’t enter at will.”

”Hello, I’m here to find someone,” Cheng Yu smiled. If you won’t let me in, can you please make a call and have him come out?

”Who are you looking for?” asked the soldier on guard.

”Can you please help me find Qin Jian, the staff officer? I have an urgent matter to discuss with him.”

”All right, please wait a moment,” the soldier turned and went back to the sentry box, bending over to speak a few words to the person in the communication room.

The person nodded and picked up the phone to dial Qin Jian.

Ring-ring-ring-ring.

Qin Jian’s phone on the desk rang, and he picked it up nonchalantly.

The voice of a sentry came through the handset: ”Staff Officer, hello, there is a lady outside the gate who says she has an urgent matter to discuss with you.”

”What’s her name?” Qin Jian asked casually.

The soldier quickly asked and then replied to Qin Jian: ”She says her name is Cheng Yu.”

As soon as he heard it was Cheng Yu, Qin Jian’s guard went up: ”Tell her I’m busy right now! I can’t leave, let her go back.”

With that, Qin Jian hung up the phone.

”I’m sorry. Our staff officer is very busy and doesn’t have time to see you. He said for you to go back first,” the soldier conveyed Qin Jian’s words.
