Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 241: Chapter 238 It’s My Business That I Like Him

”Liang Manman,” Jian Ying said.

When Qin Jian thought of Liang Manman, he remembered the wealthy and influential radio journalist from the family. He had an instinctive dislike for the girl the moment they met.

During their first meeting, An Hao was also present. He had rejected Liang Manman, making it clear to her that there was no possibility between them.

”Why is she here too?” Qin Jian asked, frowning, ”Why didn’t anyone mention it beforehand?”

”Section Chief Zhang sent a telegram. We didn’t know Liang Manman was coming until then. Upon finding out, he sent a telegram to give you a heads up,” presumably because he was worried about An Hao running into her in the village.

”Alright, I got it,” Qin Jian waved his hand. ”Old Jiang, you go ahead. Let me know when the Section Chief arrives.”

At the entrance of the station, Section Chief Zhang got out of the car. He walked around with his hands clasped behind his back to inspect the surroundings, while Liang Manman followed him, looking here and there, her curiosity clearly piqued.

The thought of seeing Qin Jian soon brought a smile to her face.

”Manman, hasn’t your father introduced any prospects to you lately?” Section Chief Zhang asked, sensing something amiss from Liang Manman’s excitement.

”He has,” Liang Manman casually plucked a flower and smelled it, ”Colonels and sons of army commanders, but I don’t fancy any of them.”

Group Leader Zhang laughed helplessly, ”Is Qin Jian really that good?”

”Mhm,” Liang Manman nodded, her face beaming with a smile. ”I’ve admired him for a long time. Seeing him in person, I just love him to death.”

”But Qin Jian has a partner already.”

”That’s his business. Him having a partner doesn’t change the fact that I like him!” Liang Manman said defiantly.

”...” Section Chief Zhang was at a loss for words from Liang Manman’s response, really unsure of what to say.

He had a good relationship with Liang Manman’s father, and half the reason for his visit was an inspection while the other was due to his private relations with Qin Jian.

They were superior and subordinate and also shared a friendship that transcended age.

Somehow, Liang Manman had gotten wind of the visit and insisted on coming along.

Her father had pleaded with him too, so he had no choice but to bring her.

He had only wanted to see how Qin Jian was doing. Little did he expect to bring along such a big trouble.

Section Chief Zhang was contemplating how to explain the situation to An Hao when he suddenly heard Liang Manman shout, ”Uncle Zhang, Qin Jian is coming.”

”Oh my! Let’s go and have a look,” Section Chief Zhang said as he walked forward with Liang Manman.

Qin Jian and Jian Ying came out to greet Section Chief Zhang. Upon seeing them, they greeted him: ”Welcome, Section Chief, to the inspection.”

Zhang Jianguo circled around Qin Jian and Jian Ying, pinched Qin Jian’s muscles, and nodded in approval, ”It seems that guiding the work this time has been very fruitful. Both you and Jian Ying have tanned quite a bit, and you’re looking much stronger.”

”Yes,” Jian Ying glanced at Qin Jian and added, ”Qin Jian goes up the mountains and into the waters every day with the operational staff, guiding the work and conducting field inspections.”

”Excellent, excellent!” Group Leader Zhang said with praise, ”I have no worries at all about Qin Jian in this regard.”

”Right! All my friends also say that Qin Engineer is both handsome and the manliest,” Liang Manman chimed in. Seeing that Qin Jian didn’t even glance her way, she pouted, her tone carrying a hint of coquetry, ”Qin Engineer, why are you so cold to me? I’ve gone through so much trouble asking Uncle Zhang to bring me here to see you~”
