Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 478: Chapter 478: Are You Feeling Sorry for Me?

She couldn’t stomp An Hao to death, but she was thoroughly annoyed by An Hao!

Seeing her not speak, Qin Fen lowered his head and sniffed at the substance, then stretched out his hand and licked a bit of it: ”This isn’t poison, is it?”

”Don’t eat it!” Song Yueqin hurriedly grabbed his wrist, ”That... that’s croton seeds.”

Qin Fen looked at her in astonishment: ”Croton seeds?”

Song Yueqin nodded with a blush on her face: ”You don’t think I’m very bad, do you? I just... just...”

As she spoke, tears began to fall from Song Yueqin’s eyes. She bad-mouthed An Hao extensively and blamed everything—including her failure to get into university and being barred from taking exams for three years—on An Hao.

She placed herself in an extremely pitiful position, speaking through sobs, as if the wrongs An Hao did to her were too numerous to record.

Qin Fen watched Song Yueqin crying messily, feeling quite uneasy in his heart.

He couldn’t resist pulling out a handkerchief from his pocket to wipe Song Yueqin’s tears.

This move caught Song Yueqin by surprise, a man wiping a woman’s tears was such an intimate gesture!

How could he make such a move?

Song Yueqin looked up at Qin Fen, only to see his gaze was tender, with a bit of an indescribable nuance when he looked at her.

Her heart trembled, and she was already formulating complicated thoughts.

”Qin Fen, why are you wiping my tears?” Song Yueqin tried to probe him, ”Do you realize that this gesture might make me misunderstand...”

Indeed, once she finished her words, Qin Fen’s face reddened: ”Sorry... sorry! I just didn’t want to see you cry.”

”Are you feeling sorry for me?” Song Yueqin smiled.

Confronted by her suddenly bright gaze, Qin Fen was a bit flustered: ”Well... I feel like you are being treated unfairly, and I feel indignant on your behalf. Later I’ll ask my brother to see if he knows anything about what you said.”

”Are you dumb?” Song Yueqin, seeing his somewhat naive look, couldn’t help but laugh, ”Since your brother married your sister-in-law, he must think she’s good. What answer do you expect to get from him? Your sister-in-law is very smart; if she finds out that it was me who told you, who knows how she’ll deal with me.”

”Is my sister-in-law that formidable?”

”You don’t believe it?”

”It’s not that I don’t believe you, but I can’t imagine my sister-in-law, so gentle, being that kind of person.”

”You still don’t believe it.” Song Yueqin sighed deeply, her face filled with disappointment, ”You could ask around, and you would find out just how formidable your sister-in-law is. If I weren’t pushed to this extent, I wouldn’t have come here to lay down croton seed powder. I didn’t mean anything else; I just wanted to vent my anger. If you want to tell your brother and sister-in-law, go ahead. After all, my reputation is almost completely ruined; I don’t care anymore.”

Seeing Song Yueqin unhappy, Qin Fen quickly said, ”I won’t do that, rest assured! But you shouldn’t do this kind of thing in the future. After all, they are my brother and sister-in-law, and not telling them would trouble my conscience. But I also don’t want to see you upset.”

Song Yueqin, hearing Qin Fen say this, felt relieved.

She had reached her goal!

It seems her luck wasn’t all that bad after all; this time it was a close call!

Qin Fen let Song Yueqin go, and as she was leaving, she turned around and gave him a brilliant smile...

It set Qin Fen’s heart racing, as if there were a rabbit thumping inside.
