The hope of life’s evolution.

It sounded strange, but in truth, it was quite simple to understand.

All life possessed the potential to evolve.

Just like the Humans of Earth, who evolved from Apes over hundreds of thousands of years.

And just like the Dark King under his command. He used to be a Chimpanzee, but after stepping into Tier-4, he transformed into a new kind of Human, born solely for battle.

This was evolution.

One could say, cultivation itself was a form of life’s transformation, a grand evolution.

As for Yu Zi Yu’s Evolution Points… they were, in essence, the hope of evolution.

To harvest Evolution Points was to plunder the very hope other lives held for their own evolution.

That was precisely why Evolution Points granted Yu Zi Yu the power of endless upgrades, because it was the potential of other beings’ evolution, transferred unto himself.

Of course, this was merely Yu Zi Yu’s speculation.

The truth… remained uncertain.

Or rather, with Yu Zi Yu’s current level, it was still beyond his reach.

Perhaps, when he steps into the Realm of Hegemony, or even the Eternal Realm… only then might he truly comprehend the essence of Evolution Points.

All things in existence possess an essence.

The deeper he delved into cultivation, the more Yu Zi Yu believed this to be true.

And the Evolution Points he relied upon, surely had a far more profound truth hidden beneath.

But for now, Yu Zi Yu could not yet touch that truth.

Whether Evolution Points truly represent the hope of life’s evolution… it remained to be seen.

After all, even this theory had its inconsistencies.

If they truly embodied the evolutionary hope of other beings, then why did they allow Yu Zi Yu to attain enlightenment?

Unless, they contained an essence even more enigmatic than Yu Zi Yu could understand.

“This isn’t something I should be pondering right now,” muttering softly, Yu Zi Yu dismissed these thoughts.

There was still a battle to be fought, dwelling on Evolution Points now would be far too dismissive of his opponent.

Even if the current Netherborns did not even deserve to be called his opponent, they were a major race, after all!

Moreover, Yu Zi Yu could vaguely sense a terrifying presence stirring deep within the Netherworld.

*Hehe…* A smile tugged at the corner of Yu Zi Yu’s lips. He showed little concern.

“Even if you forcefully awaken now… you still won’t be able to do a thing to me,” as if leaving a reminder, Yu Zi Yu’s voice echoed through the entire Netherworld.

“We… will remember you…” A faint voice suddenly echoed in Yu Zi Yu’s ear.

Following the source of the voice, Yu Zi Yu caught a glimpse of a strangely shaped blade, flickering with an eerie glow, flashing away in the depths of the Netherworld…

It had chosen to leave, in the end.

That was the Netherborns’ Imperial Artifact, the Nether God Armor, a defensive-type Artifact.

After much hesitation, it finally chose to leave, taking with it the last embers of the Netherborns.

Yu Zi Yu didn’t stop it either.

He didn’t want to.

An Imperial Artifact choosing to retreat on its own accord was already the greatest defeat of a race.

If nothing unexpected transpired, the Nether God Armor would not appear in the cosmos again for a long time.

According to Anzuiel, Imperial Artifacts, entities of their level, placed great importance on their reputation.

Once they suffer a defeat, they would choose to slumber for the rest of an era, preserving only the legacy and the final embers of their race.

Until a new era dawned.

Unless the situation grew utterly desperate, they would never awaken again.

Apart from the pride, there was another reason. The Imperial Artifact had also lost their greatest leverage in the struggle for the universe.

Imperial Artifacts were intrinsically tied to their race or faction.

When the races or Forces competed for the universe, they were also competing for destiny.

And that destiny was what Imperial Artifacts valued most.

With destiny, they could recover faster.

With destiny, they had a chance to ascend further…

However, without their race or faction, they had lost the greatest capital they held in this era.

Thus, slumber was the wisest choice.

…

When the races in the universe clashed with each other, what they fought over was not merely territory or resources…

More often than not, it was for something far more elusive, destiny.

Destiny, in this context, was the intertwining of fortune and fate…

It’s an abstract and intricate concept, yet absolutely indispensable for those seeking Dao.

Not all who possessed great destiny were guaranteed to grow strong, but those who have stepped into the Realm of Hegemon, or even Eternal Realm, undoubtedly carry great destiny.

As for the specifics of this concept, Yu Zi Yu himself didn’t fully grasp it yet.

He only remembered something Anzuiel had once said, ‘That at present, his destiny and Yu Zi Yu’s had already begun to show signs of convergence.’

If the two destinies were to completely merge, that would be the moment the Holy Sixteen Wings truly acknowledged Yu Zi Yu.

And what did that acknowledgment mean? It was nothing less than the Holy Sixteen Wings accepting him as the Master.

From this, it wasn’t hard to imagine how much importance the Holy Sixteen Wings placed on destiny.

Just because of alignment of their destinies, he was willing to go as far as accept Yu Zi Yu as his Master!

And because of this, Yu Zi Yu had come to faintly realize the weight of destiny.

“What the myriad races are truly fighting for… must be destiny itself.”

A faint, knowing smile presented itself on Yu Zi Yu’s lips, as realization dawned upon him.

However, just then, as if sensing something, he exhaled deeply.

[It seems… it’s time to reap the true harvest.]

He took a step forward, and as if the chasm between space and distance had completely collapsed for him, he instantly crossed countless mountains and rivers, heading straight for the deepest part of the Netherworld.

There, the Netherborns’ deepest foundations lay hidden.

And if he could reap those… Yu Zi Yu would truly strike it rich.

After all, just one-third of the Heavenly Court’s legacy had been enough to elevate the Demon Court into a peak-tier power in the Western Sector.

And before this, Yu Zi Yu had already absorbed the majority of the Elemental Race’s heritage.

Now, if he could seize the bulk of the Netherborns’ hidden reserves as well…

“Hahahaha…” At the thought of it, Yu Zi Yu couldn’t help but break into a hearty laugh, feeling a surge of anticipation.

[If we can fully digest these inheritances… whether it’s the Demon Court or me, we might take another great leap forward.]

…

Half a day later

In the deepest reaches of the Netherworld, upon a colossal obsidian throne, Yu Zi Yu now sat in silent meditation.

Not far from him, several figures stood stiffly.

These figures were all pale as death, trembling uncontrollably.

And beyond them, countless vibrant silhouettes could be seen faintly in the distance—moving about, carrying and organizing various treasures…

These were the surviving core members of the Netherborns… and denizens of the Nine Realms.

The remnants of the Netherborns, sensing the changing tides, had chosen to surrender.

And as for the denizens of the Nine Realms—they were the ones Yu Zi Yu had dispatched to sort through the Netherborns’ heritage.

Unlike the hasty suppression of the Elemental Clan, the Netherborns, who had long since hunkered down into the depths of the Dark Expanse, had given Yu Zi Yu ample time to comb through their treasures.

Not to mention, the entire Dark Expanse was enshrouded in a Grand Formation—very few even knew what had transpired within.

Even now, hardly anyone was aware of the earth-shaking changes that had unfolded in its deepest reaches.

Thus, Yu Zi Yu could take his time subduing the remnants of the Netherborns, and thoroughly claim their legacy.
